  1. Everybody but yellowjacket1 will agree that TT is the best player in the region. TT was the best player in the region as a freshman and she still is the best player.

Sometimes the Bradford homeboy comes out in yellowjacket1, he was raised in Bradford and has had a hard time crossing over.

What did you edit out of this post? I am just curious. I have not had a hard time crossing over, but I am beginning to think that you are having a hard time accepting me.

  2. Yellowjackets1, I would have to disagree with you on the best player in the district. TT is the best player in the district, on the best team in the district and #21 Carnation Hart is not bad either. Have seen all the teams play and this is my opinion just like you have yours but for this best coach in the district talk, and this or that player to be the best in the district then they would be doing better overall than they are. Honestly, if Bradford had the best player in the district they would not be losing all the games they have b/c Eddings IS a good coach. I have known Coach Johnson for a long time and he does at great job at LC. Has taken less talented teams and knocked off some very good Gleason teams in the district and region tournaments, Has taken a LC Boys team to the state as well as a LC girls team. I will rank him up there with anyone in the district. To the game big win for Greenfield as I said in the LC/Greenfield thread the jackets can be a very dangerous team if they play every night like they do when they face LC.

You are entitled to your opinion and I knew you would disagree. However, I don't agree with your argument about how good the team would be doing. Meredith Richardson was a 2 time Ms. Basketball from Bradford and the teams she played on were not very good. As far as Lake Co. goes, I think Carnation Hart might be better than T.T. She was the dominant player against Greenfield anyway.

Again these are just opinions, and like I said, my opinion is that Street is hands down the best player in the district.

  3. Well, I was a bit off on the score. lol Bradford looked very good last night. My opinion is that Street is the best player in the district and I don't think it is that close.

On another note, could we please stop with the arguing back and forth. I am sure there are kids on every team that have bad attitudes from time to time or just have personalities that some people do not like. I for one have never seen a player on Greenfield or Bradford show an attitude on the floor. That being said, these kids are 15-18 years old, and this public forum is no place for this kind of talk. These kids read this stuff. If you want to talk about things they need to improve on, that is one thing, but let's leave the topix type talk for topix

  4. I try to realistic when I guess the score of a ballgame and your 20 point win prediction is crazy. This is Bradford, a district game who is better than Gleason.

Wow!!! I am crazy? How realistic was your projection against Lake Co? I did not call you crazy my man. Even after the game I still did not call you crazy. And being as Gleason beat Bradford twice this year, I would have to disagree about Bradford being better than Gleason. I thought so before the season, but the games have been played. The scores tell us different.

  5. yellowjackets1,

If Greenfield plays like they did against Lake County Saturday night you may be right, it shouldnt be close and Greenfield wins....................................................... but if Greenfield plays like they did against Gleason the game before it wont be close and Bradford wins.

It will be a hard fought game and I'm just hoping Greenfield just wins by 1.

Come on over and be optimistic for a change man. We started the season a bit rougher than we wanted, but we went on a 7 game win streak including a 22 point win a Humboldt. We had a hick up against Gleason that I am sure many of us are still sick over. We rebounded and beat Halls the very next night, and then took the #1 team in the state to double O.T.

  6. I will agree with you on that..These are the best two teams in the district.Just like the win over Liberty..Greenfield can beat any single a team in the stste if they play hard like last night. Both teams missed shots and had opportunities but every point was hard to come by.Randolf and Mullins and Carnation were really battling down low. Can't fault the effort from any of the players. As for your comment, about every time a loss or a close game..followed by no disrepect..I tell things like it is..Everyone knows me..I talked about our coaching..and I know everyone from Lake Co knows me,including the coach. Not hiding behind my name.Didn't change my name and maybe try to type something as someone else.At least you finally did say T.T. could be a good player.A lot of people are againstor look down on Lake Co as a whole including fans from other towns and the officials..That's just the perception of Lake Co.Naturally you think it was a charge because you have been against T.T. for the past 2 years yourself.I remember a lot of negative posts about Lake Co and T.T.when you were Huffstedler, saying she wasn't that good while others were saying T.T. was the best..Even some of your own Greenfield fans disagred with you.So..I can see that you thought the charge was a good call with you keeping the stats and announcing for Greenfield and considering some of your old posts. But again..like you said..naturally we are going to always say No disrespect to Greenfield..That's right. No disrespect. They have a fine team. Can beat anyone. But with T.T. on the floor, not sure if the game stays in Single digits. But who knows..Maybe next time Jordan Gailey will pick up 4 fouls early in the 3rd quarter.Like to see how Greenfield responds and what you write after the game..Good luck the rest of the way.I really hpe Greenfield and Lake Co are the two teams that make it to State.A tough road ahead though.

I am not going to get into a spat with you over this. I just find it very funny is all. I have never seen Lake Co. get beat or even when a close game and not complain about the refs. That is all. Take it for what it is worth. Also, my comments about T.T. were never that she was bad. I just thought she had a ways to go to become what Lake Co. was billing her as. The potential has always been there.

  7. Sometimes those refs smile because the crazy things the fans say are just down right funny.

Every fan thinks they can ref these games. I say go get a uniform and run up and down the court. I am not saying that there are not bad calls. Of course there are, but every time we see a Lake Co. loss or close win we hear about some bad calls by the refs. Of course it is always followed or preceded by the phrase "no disrespect" to whatever team the opponent happens to be.

99 out of 100 times that a player goes into the lane out of control they will get called for a charge. Mark it down. It is the way it is. When T.T. realizes this and proves that she can alter her game, she will really be a good player.

Great win Lake Co, and I loved the effort out of the Jackets. I believe these are the 2 best teams in the district.

  8. Bigster,

T.T.'s 4th foul was most definitely a charge. The coach even jumped her over her poor decision. His words were "when you are out of control, they will call a charge." I was sitting right next to your coach. That is what he said and it is true. Our player had position, and T.T. went in out of control and definitely made contact. I mean she did not tackle her, but it was definitely the right call. We have been saying it for 3 years. T.T. is an amazing athlete, but until she learns to play in control, she will continue to get those fouls. A reason why her fouls seem to come in bunches is probably because she gets frustrated.

  9. PC had y'all beat last year and you won with a full court luck shot. Its a win but on you'd be lucky to make that shot one out of twenty times.

You might be right, but the point is that we fought you hard and we can't get out of our district most years. The level of competition is a bit different. Any objective person would agree.

  10. 10 free throws is excessive. Eject the player, eject the coach if he gets out of hand. Don't punish the other 4 guys on the floor who are competing within the rules. I don't know this team from Adam's. I think perspective is lacking alot of the time when these sort of penalties are imposed and it's usually about ego and power trips. It is about high school kids. The adults need to get over themselves. If the kid is acting like a punk, treat him like a punk and send him packing. Don't punish everybody else with one fell swoop.

According to the article, the reason why so many free throws were taken was because of the attitude of the entire team. The kid in question mouthed off. The coach mouthed off. Then the bench went off. If there is no one on the team that is going to get the players under control then it is left up to the officials.

  11. Last night at the Greenfield/McKenzie game, a McKenzie player fouled out and immediately untucked his jersey. His coach did not hesitate to make his player tuck his jersey back in. The coach was very animated telling his player to get that jersey tucked back in. Wonder why? People need to stop complaining every time something happens against a player of a team they root for. Most of the time the refs are right guys.

  12. The point is not about players being disrespectful, the point is the officials gave an 8 point advantage to a team over an untucked jersey.(the kid made 8 out of 10). You can watch a game and watch kids say every word imaginable and very rarely are technical fouls called for foul language unless directed at the official. Officials do not like to be "shown up". Neither do coaches or players. Players and parents should respect officials because parents have the same opportunity to ref basketball if you so wish. If you think the officials are so bad then File the paperwork and get the 50 dollars a game to have everyone in the gym hate you. The officials are there to keep high school games from turning into a riot because half the people there would fist fight if there were no consequences. Should the kid have shot 10 free throws? No, I do not think so, but the officials did what they felt was right and the T$$AA will review the sequence of events I'm sure and if the referee's were out of line then correct actions will be made.

Actually, I think it is about disrespect. According to the article, the kid untucked his jersey. That was one technical foul. The coach got another one, and then some on the bench if I remember right. I can somewhat understand the coach, but the bench has to move on.

  13. ok...well i think most of us were taught along time ago that respect is given not earned...just b/c you wear a stripe shirt doesnt mean you automatically worhty of such respect....like any other profession with a uniform or position of authority some respect is given but once you show you are not worhty of it you lose it...in most other situations a few bad apples can ruin a bunch, but with this case alot of the young ones are losing the respect a few of the older refs worked for years to get..

I agree with you theoretically, but if you don't give respect to a bad official it will cost you. You have to be respectful of the position at times.

  14. Like it or not, the refs are the authority in the game. I get so frustrated at the disrespect that many kids today show to authority figures. What is worse, is that many kids get this from their parents. Many parents think their kids do no wrong and it is always someone else that is to blame. If he would have obeyed the authority, no technical fouls would have been called and then there would not have been 10 free throws shot on one play. You can blame who you want, but the blame truly rests on the player and his coach/father.

  15. I mean this district could go anyway as far as i see it. if i had to decide on a ranking it wuld be like this..

    1. Lake County

    2. Union City

    3. Bradford

    4. South Fulton

    5. Humboldt

    6. Greenfield

    7. Peabody

    8. Halls

We all have our thougts. This is the way i expect it to go.. Anything can change (:

You really think Greenfield is that low? Not a chance. Greenfield is 2nd or 3rd at worst in this district.

  16. I hate to tell you but the best player is not always the leader. This year its bratton. Guess you thought it was street. Anyone who has played sports knows this. A leader is someone the girls want to follow. But you are right. You scream loud enough someone will hear you.

Wow!!! Anyone that disagrees with you, gets zinged apparently. I may not know who the leader in the locker room is on a team, but I know who the leader on the court is. Molly Wallsmith was the leader on the court. Everyone on the team looked to her. It is apparently very obvious to everyone except you. I watched her even try to get other players involved and they still looked to her. She made Bradford click. Also, I never said that the best player is the leader. If you want my opinion, it does not look like Bradford has a leader this year. That might be part of the problem they are having. Just sayin'

And one more thing, if Molly was not the leader of last year's team, who was?

  17. IF YOU HAVE READ ALL STATEMENTS I HAVE MADE YOU WOULD KNOW I THINK SHE WAS A GREAT PLAYER. ALL I HAVE EVER SAID IS SHE HAD NO HELP LAST YEAR BECAUSE THE TEAM WATCHED HER PLAY. SHE WAS A GREAT PLAYER, BUT TUBBS AND OLIVER OR WHO EVER HAS BEEN THE LEADERS OF THE TEAM. ALL I AM IS A 12 YEAR BRADFORD FAN, WHO CALLS IT LIKE I SEE IT. SO CALM DOWN TAKE A DEEP BREATH.

Tubbs and Oliver were not on the Bradford team last year. It was Wallsmith, Combs, Bratton, Street, and Renfroe. Molly was most definitely the leader on that team. I would even argue that she was the leader when Tubbs and Oliver were on the team.
