  1. As expected...SHHS is several notches above all the competion in this half of the state this year-and presumably again next year barring an unfortunate injury or two

Im not sure I would go as far as to say several notches above the competition... Seymour got within 10 of Science Hill more than once and that was WITHOUT their leading scorer AND considering the very uneven fouls. I dont usually use the whole bad call thing but when the fouls are Seymour with 8 and SH with ONE with over THREE minutes left in the FIRST quarter, Seymour didnt stand a chance! The girls get to where they cant or are afraid to play defense!

Also, you need to consider the fact that Science Hill enrolls an average of 2700 students verses a 1200 average at Seymour, 1300 at Morristown East & West, 1800 at Sevier County High, 1100 at Cherokee, 2200 at Jefferson, Dobyns-Bennett with 1800, 1200 at Volunteer, Daniel Boone with 1400, Tennessee High with approx 1100, and Sullivan South with a whopping 1000. All of these are averages found at this neat little sight...http://public-schools.findthebest.com/l/81856/Science-Hill-High-School

So saying they are several notches above all of east Tennessee is not exactly a fair statement!

  2. HAHAHA! This thread has gotten good!!

Congrats to all the Coaches and Players. Everyone seemed to have good seasons despite injuries. Definitely looking forward to next year already!!

GO MORRISTOWN EAST! Represent the IMAC well!! :)

  3. Tonight will mark the last game for many young women in the IMAC. They have represented themselves and their schools so very well. They have made life long friends with their teammates and have shown their willingness to work hard and discipline themselves during their high school careers. Statistics show that students involved in positive extra-curricular activities are much more likely to lead successful lives. I want to thank them all for allowing me and my wife to enjoy watching them give their all this season and wish them the very best in their future endeavors. While we also enjoy watching the guys play ball, we especially appreciate the 100% effort given by these young women game in and game out. These young women have shown what real dedication and teamwork are all about. Good luck to you all.

I was just playing catch up on this thread and I want to thank you for the positive, non-bias thoughts. I always enjoy reading your comments and they are usually dead on! I am a Seymour parent and not sure what team you represent but seems you have watched us all and had nothing but positive things to say. Thank you for continuing to be supportive to all the hardworking players and coaches.

  4. Also. Ive never said anything bad about anyones daughter. Maybe youre thinking of someone else. I HAVE stated that i thought a freshman post should start over a sophomore post, but thats just the general consensus in Seymour and im the only one that will say it. But i have never ever said one bad thing about anyone on here. Read everything ive posted. Its all there.

No, its not all there because coach t removed it. You called my daughter out BY NAME and said horrible things about her playing ability, turnovers, not having the concept of catching the ball etc. If you have an opinion about the starting lineup, you could have just said I think seymour needs to look at their stats and evaluate their starting line up. No need to list names! You wanna piss people off, keep saying ugly things about their kids. Next time you might get the dad instead of the mom.

  5. I am not "dogging" a player, I am stating the facts...and I could put a list of other people who feel the same way about the way the girl plays. I could also put a list of other people who knew there was a foul on the last shot of the game...I didn't say anything about the girl personally...just how she plays. I will always have my opinions and I will more than likely always post them on here. Guess you will just have to deal with it. I do coach BASEBALL, so I am entitled to my opinions on basketball...and I'm sure I will have some not so nice things to say about some umpires during my season, but thats just sports. You guys get on here and post things when you sit during a game and don't yell out or say anything after a game about a player or ref. Then ill applaud you. Ill never take a personal shot at a player, but I can have my say in things, just as everyone else on here. You'll survive. Bring on regionals!

FYI to everyone reading this thread. You DO NOT have to "deal with" anyone cutting down a child, whether it be about their character or the way they play ball. If something ugly is said about a player, just report it to coach t and they will remove the comment. I know because he has done this to MY daughter and they removed it after I complained. Kids are going to have bad games! Its no reason to get on a public website and make them out to be a horrible ball player. These girls ALL work hard and do not deserve negative publicity from someone who doesnt matter.

  6. Injuries have been unreal this season and have certainly played a key part in many of the games. We just counted 5 out of the 8 teams have dealt with ACL injuries. That's a scary percentage! Cherokee doesnt seem as solid as some of the others but playing with the home court advantage will be huge for them. Sevier County has the power to topple anyone. West and East have been strong all season but how will they fair with the sudden loss of key players? Seymour has been without their leading scorer due to ACL and they still manage to keep pulling out the wins. Its any given teams night, depending on who shows up and wants it the most! Cant wait to see how it unfolds!

    :popcorneater:

  7. East still has a lot of quality players, but a senior leader and scorer will surely be missed. With Cherokee and WEst seeming to peak and Sevier and Seymour coming on , it should be an interesting tournament. I understand that Cherokee had a substantial lead before Miss Berquist was injured and that their other big girl , Taylor, is healthy again. Cherokee could very well be the team to beat especially if they finish the district regular season with a win over West Friday night in Rogersville.

And lets not forget Cherokee will have home court advantage in the tournament. The way this season has went, its anybody's game!

  8. WOW! I cant believe you guys are actually upset about the name of a team. Hello.. lets not miss the big picture here and that is an amazing group of young athletes and coaches. You have to give credit where credit is due and this team of spunky girls sure deserves alot of it! Not only are they great athletes but they are also a GREAT bunch of girls with outstanding values. CONGRATS TO ALL THE PLAYERS, COACHES AND FAMILIES!!! We will ALWAYS be KGC, Knoxville Girls Club, Lady Pride fans!!! :thumb:

  9. Only lost one at Fulton and it was the very last game. They were exhausted!

At Tennessee Tech this week they went 5 and 2. One of the losses was to Clarkrange, a school I am told goes to state every year. They only lost by 8. Not terrible. So far, all are liking Brandi from what I have heard. Seems to be a good fit. Keep an eye on Seymour this year, I look for them to do well!

  10. Update from the players point of view..... My daughter is not able to practice with the team until next week due to the fact she is a rising freshman and had to wait until school was out. She has however, heard from most all of the players who have practiced with her and all are saying she has no personality or sense of humor. Two VERY important things. Also heard from the parent of another that their daughter likes the challenge she has put forth for them but her complaint was she mumbles alot. I am very nervous for this team. I think the girls need to have respect for her but also need to like her. A good relationship between players and coaches only increases the positive results on the court. Perhaps those of you who know her well will mention this.

  11. Heres my take. A good coach is going to play the players it takes to win. All the girls have off games. My daughter knows when she's having an off game as do we. If she's not helping her team, she needs to be sitting. That's her opinion and ours. She doesnt like it but knows she cannot help her team playing like that. Heres a little footnote to parents: If your kid is sitting the bench more than not, take the hint. Maybe this isnt her sport.

  12. Well, with that kind of attitude, she'll probably be pushed out just like the rest... Notes need to be taken on the power Seymour parents apparently have over the school system. This first year will be very critical for Brandi. She will need to be careful. There are still alot of unsettled parents. Hope it turns out well for all involved... especially the girls!!!

  13. It was no secret in Seymour that there were two or three parents that complained on him. The rumors were he was given an ultimatum that he could either step down from the coaching position or lose both the coaching and his teaching position. I can also tell you that one of the parents went as far as to slash his tires. Whats concerning to me is the school system chose to listen to parents that would slash someone's tires. I am a parent of one of the rising freshman. I dont know Andy personally but what I do know is he showed up to watch numerous games of the girls he would be getting in the fall. He was very supportive, had a great interest and looking very forward to the rising freshman. I have also seen him in numerous practices on the court being a very active participant in scrimmages. I was quite impressed and have heard nothing but good from other people in the basketball community. Most all liked him.

  14. had there bball banquet last night. he told the team he was not coming back. heard that 2 or 3 parents had it in 4 him all year and got there wish. we all know who they are!

Sounds just like the Seymour Situation... a few parents running the show.

  15. First of all I would like to start by thanking all the whining parents who created all this drama by insisting Andy be let go. I understand some were not happy with his performance but no one seemed to stop and consider the big picture... the "then what?". So while other teams have been working out, planning summer camps, practices etc., we have been left hanging. The saddest part to all this is there is an amazing group of rising freshman who have played together for over 5 years and have a proven track record that are now having to suffer due to the selfish motives of others. Whats even sadder for Seymour is some of these girls are not beyond moving schools at this point which would serve Seymour right. Let them lose some of their better players to Pigeon Forge, Sevierville or Knox. This new group has worked way too hard to get to this point in their game to be thrown into an unknown situation. It makes me sick to see the political control that certain parents in the community have. Seymour has always been all about the politics.

I am not taking anything away from Brandi, dont know her personally but I can tell you there will be people that wont like her too. You'll never find a coach that makes everyone happy. Welcome to the world of competitive basketball people.... you're gonna have to get thicker skin about your kids and be happy they are even part of a team where they can work out and get better. There are alot of girls who would love to have the chance to sit on that bench!

Its all just a sad thing... the drama in basketball never ceases to amaze me.
