Still work to do but this team still appears to be ahead of last year at this time ... But then last year at this time we had only played 1 game and we're just about to find out that our coach was leaving.

I hope this team gels like they did last year. I think they can, but will they?

I've never been a Stone fan but after last year no one deserves a chance like he did. I'll root for him to mold these young men because you definitely have to have their belief or it will never happen. He has it so I'll go to war with him. Let's go Pirates

KARMA is ######. How would things be if Pruitt hadn’t been back stabbed? Be careful what you ask for. BTW, Well help my time, what in tarnation is a long Warrior assistant doing at the game? The Numb Nuts directing traffic round the Jailhouse prove, Again incompetency. Proof in the pudding!

One player don't make a team for sure and maybe it is karma but not for Pruitt. He definitely not even worth talking about. He's no better than the one who left us last year. I'll never root for Jasper but want root for them either. But if you're going to say karma blame it on the locals who blew it by letting Pruitt do some of the things he's done

  3. As always great to be a Pirate. The effort last night was there. Young me played hard but our defense really need some work. But still early in the season and will only get better as year goes on. I'm very impressed with our QB but I think we've fallen in love with the pass too much. I know you play with what you have or your strengths but still need a better mix in my opinion.

Thanks Pride.  We overcame a lot and most folks across the state counted us out through the playoffs and definitely this game.  Our defense came alive when it mattered the most.  And even more than that our Senior Mr Football Finalist ended with the MVP of the game with 19 carries 170 yards I can’t remember for sure.  Great job.  Once again, Once a Pirate Always a Pirate.

Win or lose those young men deserve everyone's respect. Not a Wes or Heath fan but those two men stepped up and brought some young boys in to manhood. Paige said that at halftime. Pride doesn't even describe what this old time Pirate feels. It is great day to be a Pirate.

If memory serves correct I believe you are right. Funny how quick people's mind can change. @PP68 Glad to hear that MC is willing to play the wait and see game. The adults have ruined the rivalry and I hate it for the kids, that's all I've got to say about that. As for SP's current situation, it's a tough pill to swallow. SP faithful say they were expecting him to leave but not this soon. Not sure there is much truth to that. If it were to be in fact TRUE, then why would the powers that be even consider hiring him if there was even a hint that he would move on in 3 to 5 years? Also, if Vic was leaning towards a certain candidate, an outsider looking in would be under the impression that his opinion would carry a lot of weight towards hiring the next coach. Maybe there was some feathers ruffled on the way out the door. It's still early but I think this next coaching hire is crucial for the next 8 years for SP.

As for Wes and Heath taking overfhink SP should be thanking their lucky stars. Family names that are synonymous with Pirate athletics and only want the best for the school. Just my personal opinion but I think Wes should have got the job the first time Vic stepped down due to the fact that Heath has no desire to be the head guy (I don't blame him, it's a lose/lose situation). Maybe Wes feels the same way but I always thought his short stint at BB had something to do with that. With that being said, they will both get their spot in the limelight and have a good chance to navigate a talented team to another shot at the gold.

We live in a different time now where loyalty is a rare trait to find. If the right hire isn't put into place, things could go downhill very quick and the talent will start going elsewhere to a stable competitive program. Nothing lasts forever and all good things come to an end eventually. I've posted this a couple of times but I don't think you guys fully appreciated Vic like you should have. He may not have always been able to win the big one, but he provided stability and consistency.

To the SP players, you've got a lot of talent and a chip on your shoulder from last year. There is a very good chance that the team that sent you home with the silver last year will be waiting for you again. You are in the foxhole now and the bullets are flying. Look to your left and to your right, those guys are all you have and they are all you NEED. Band together and show CJ that he missed his opportunity to be a part of special season.

Don't say this often but good luck from a Warrior up the road.

Pirates will be just fine. I said this before Chris was hired that we didn't need this. No one is disputing Chris is a good coach and he's proven this everywhere he's been but if you really really know Chris Jones you know he's in it for Chris Jones and no one else. As always great day to be a real Pirate. All about the team, School and community not about yourself.

I don't know when ive seen so many People write South Pittsburg off in a Game... Yes we had trouble at Center! We have all Summer... But with that being said we moved the Ball pretty well on a very BIG Team that had good hopes for the season. Did anyone else notice WE DIDNT LOOK TIRED AT ANYTIME!   same thing the Redbank Coach said about South Pittsburg. " those Boys can run and never get tired" ! Maybe its possible Mccallie put a smack down on a Team that's underachieving... I'm not gonna put this Team out of any Game this year 6 Days before the Game. I habeve more faith in Chris Jones than that! I can tell you this much! The Days, Years of being out Coached in big Games is over!!!  Spitt will find a way to Win by 3..... Never quit!!

Good post, I know we are spoiled but it will take time. Not only new face in different place but different coach and different coaching style. The only thing we all have in common is getting that W is the most important.

If we play mistake free and get the center position fixed this week I say we can stay within 14 points of them. If this is a repeat of the comedy hour at Dunlap, well,  Mercy rule in first half.  I think we were pass first and run second last night for the first half and then we basically went into a run situation with our talented backs and they showed what there capable of. I'd say Coach Jones will have a Revival with the whole team and he will get it fixed. We were basically playing some CFL rules last night on our end. After the center we basically had two downs to get a first down, because out of three snaps one was going to roll back there for sure and get us killed. Just hope our kicker can shake it off because I could tell he just wasn't in the game like he should have been. But, I did see some bright spots, not many, but a few. Effort was there and we have to get some player's back on the field and there just plain going to have to get tougher. My grade for last nights game, C-.

First game lots of mistakes and a lot of opportunities to get better. We will be just fine but need to let our backs establish a rhythm. The center situation I just don't understand. If we can establish the run. Let's run it till we need to throw it. Need to get players back on the field. If a c- gets us a win over SC I can't wait to see what a B looks like
