Alcoa home Refs are always horrendous thought they have fixed it this year but seems not.

Just like how the refs were calling 15-yard penalties on Alcoa for chirping on Bearden's last drive.  Even though both players were talking, they threw the flag on Alcoa

You do quite a bit of insulting people's intelligence when someone doesn't agree.  Go ahead and go back to your Fantasy world and Imagine they won it all.  heck, Imagane they beat LA too, and Dilfur quit to become the new Alcoa coach.  Golesh wants to be the OC...  Imagine whatever you want since you ain't living in reality.

My apologies.  I wasn't trying to insult anyone.  LA would've beaten Alcoa this year for sure

A team can only move up or down 1 classification.  Why would they not play 4A?  They don't wanna have to compete with Carter, Greeneville, Elizabethton, Anderson County?  I don't get it.  If they play Murvil and Blackmon etc. why would they not move up to 4A and challenge themselves a little bit?  Nobody even cares about Alcoa football except the players and their parents.  It's just blow out after blow out of sorry 3A teams, even in the state championship.  Boring.

I mean, Alcoa has a hard time finding team to play them. They had to travel to 6A Cookeville and 5A Rhea County.  In addition. To playing 6A Maryville and 5A Knox West.  They also beat a really good 2A Tyner team that won state.  Elizabethton used to be 3A but moved up to 4A.  Alcoa shouldn't have to move up, but they're willing to play anyone.  Blackman, great out of state KY teams, etc.  Week in and week out in 4A would lead to the same number of blowouts they already have on their schedule

I mean, you can say it, but no one ever stopped them from moving up.  And I've always defended them for staying where they can within the rules.  But that means you can't say stuff like this.  I disagree.  They're in 3a where they belong.

Why would a 3A school move up to 5A?  Has any school ever done that?  But most people realize that Alcoa would be in contention for winning state in every public classification every year.  West beat Alcoa by 3 points this year, and then had a running clock on almost everyone else in the playoffs.  Ask the West fans if Alcoa would've won state this year in West's place.

that may be the dumbest statement i have read on coach t ever. Just about every team gets better as the season goes barring any injuries

So you're saying the poster that I quoted is dumb, correct?  Because I said the exact same thing you said

Beech is in the title game and Maryville is not. There’s your facts, imbecile.

Nice "math".  So because Beech wins a silver ball, they're suddenly a better program than Maryville?  You're an absolute moron, and no one agrees with you.  And I think you should learn the difference between a team and a program.  Dictionary.com should help you with your reading comprehension

Show me where I wrote that, my point is this, Beech had a huge turnover from the season before, new starting QB as well as other key positions, so yes they benefitted much more from the experience of the season than teams with most of their team intact from the previous season, as they had things to figure out...

"especially with it being the 1st game of the season, I would say Beech is much better right now."

That is implying that Beech would play better against or beat Farragut later this season.  As if Farragut would not improve over the season

Simple math should tell you that’s an idiotic statement. Beech earned that respect.

Pretty sure you're the idiot.  Only you and Beech fans would argue that Beech is a better program than Maryville.  That's laughable.  But please enlighten me......what is this simple math you speak of that determines Beech is a better program than Maryville.  I'll wait....

    WARNING:  Long Post

I said this the other night before JSamson decided to come after me for being some other dude.  I mean this as nicely as I can say it.  The “championship” ride is over at Maryville.

George Quarles knew that this was inevitable and that’s why he bounced when he did.  The moment Oakland hired 2A Kevin Creasy to come to Murfreesboro and run his 2A offense it was officially the beginning of the end of Maryville’s championship runs.  It’s grown so lopsided that Oakland has gotten to where they have to play Division II teams and out of state teams in order to test themselves because they flat out own Maryville right now.

Gary Rankin did the same thing when he left Riverdale after 2005.  Even when Riverdale had countless college prospects and brought in Ron Aydelott to continue the machine.  When adversity hit the Warrior Nation made Aydelott the scapegoat and since then Riverdale hasn’t been the same.  If Rankin had stayed at Riverdale he would have been part of the downfall of Warriors football.  If Quarles had stayed at Maryville he too would have been part of the downfall of Rebels football.  Oh sure they would have beaten the Science Hill’s of the state and they would beat Alcoa, although it wouldn’t be as lopsided as in years past, but in those nut cutting games against better teams from Alcoa, Knoxville West, and Oakland he would have taken an L just like Hunt is doing nowadays.

Maryville today is experiencing what Riverdale went through 15 years ago.  Eventually it will become the new norm and people will learn to accept it.  It’s not a knock.  Maryville is still great.  They are still going to win 10 or so games every year and be a Top 5 team.  If you think it’s 2000-2007 Maryville though you desperately need a reality check.

In the meantime Alcoa’s going to need to build more trophy cases because they are going to really start to put a gap on Maryville as it relates to number of state championships won.  The part that is going to sting the most about it is that their head Coach leading the charge will be a Maryville grad.  Eventually this will take its toll and the players that Maryville “currently get” will become the players that Maryville “used to get” because they’ll all be going to Alcoa to win championships.

Ask Oakland & Riverdale if that isn’t how it works.  Again I’m not trying to be a “Debbie Downer” and I’m not dogging on Maryville football.  What Quarles did at Maryville was one of the most amazing feats of its time.  It’s what Creasy is doing today at Oakland.  Nix will only continue to build and expand on what Reid & Rankin started and established at Alcoa.

I will be at the state championships next weekend if anyone wants to stop by and have a conversation.  Great year Maryville.  Good Luck in the title games Oakland & Alcoa.

All that to say that Maryville is the 2nd best 6A program in the entire state.  Oh, the misery

I honestly do not believe that matters at all at this point, especially with it being the 1st game of the season, I would say Beech is much better right now. I am not saying they would beat West, but I do think it would be a good competitive game...

I would say Farragut was a much better team when they played West than they were the first game of the season as well

Congrats to the Knox West Rebels. They clobbered a really good football team tonight. They were easily the class of 5A this year and I honestly wish I could see them face Oakland or Beech.

Farragut beat Beech, and West dominated Farragut.  I know it doesn't always translate, but I think West would've handled Beech this year

  12. 11 hours ago, BoosterClubPlayersSuck said:

Agree. They did it without all the cheating Alcoa has done as well. They also did it in. 5A, rather than 2A or 3A. They did it without being a private school beating on small public schools like it used to be before DII.

If West and Alcoa swapped places, Alcoa would've won 5A this year.  Just saying

Naw you’re speaking for yourself lol it’s odd to support mid tn when it comes playoff time? I can’t fix when people come at me with stupid mentalities, people are just born with that.

When it comes playoff time??  Your Oakland pajama-wearing self has been talking trash in Maryville threads all season long.  Keep pretending you didn't though

Crazy obsessions? Lol I could feel your blood boiling in this weak sauce post. How about you come with some better content

You're a fan of another school, yet you give us all the play by play of Oakland.  And feel the need to stick your nose in all things Maryville.  You're just an odd dude

Facts!  GQ got out when the writing was on the wall.  This isn't on DH or the coaches at all.  It's a talent gap and it's not even close.  Oakland will call off the dogs when it hits 38-7 or 45-7.

The talent gap is there anytime Oakland plays another 6A team.  Maryville is the 2nd best 6A team in the state every year.  Still a great team and program.
