Indeed - with exception of MHS I think so...
Boro , CHS , Hendersonville and Indy could easily be facing MHS this Saturday
Case in point Indy - CHS beats Ravenwood and Indy beats CHS in 2 games combined score
107-21
Oakland and Blackman not on par with seasons past
Hillsboro lost to a 6-6 6A team, as well as to 6A Oakland. But please continue claiming 5A's superiority over 6A.....it's quite comical
-
And I will tell you that 5a was tougher than 6a this year
Your still spinning it -
We all know GQ won't play a private school
Chicken Little of the East
So you don't have the title of best team in state until you step up and play a private
End of discussion
We all know the truth
Earn it
Did you really just say that 5A was tougher than 6A this year??
-
Maybe so. But year in and year out, Maryville would win their fair share of them. Most years, BA only wins 8-9 games
So what you are agreeing to is this years game would have to go to BA?
WHEW......let me help you out for a minute:
may·beˈmÄbÄ“/adverb- 1.perhaps; possibly

I'm confused, is this the Maryville vs Ravenwood board or another IFL Discussion?
My apologies. A couple of "privates" hijacked the thread. I just had to defend Maryville and the public schools for a bit ; )
-
and scrimmages are good gauges for the season? If I recall both of those teams won state that season. This year maryville thumped ensworth and from there everyone knew ensworth would be down and maryville would be good. Oh yeah btw ensworth in its WORST SEASON EVER, still managed to beat the team playing in the 3A championship showing that teams that play weak competion will be hard pressed to beat a D2 squad
It's not rare for Maryville to "lose" a scrimmage, and then go undefeated (while beating the team in a real game that "beat" them in practice) and win another gold ball. Oh and congrats on Ensworth beating CPA. Ensworth also lost to a 2A team this year
-
Speed, Size, Talent, is too much for Maryville this year. The kids wouldn't know what to do
Maybe so. But year in and year out, Maryville would win their fair share of them. Most years, BA only wins 8-9 games
-
We are talking about this year? And there O line and Qb are all a year older. Maryville can't match the speed and physicality BA brings to the table. Coaching can't give players that
You are beyond naive if you think that Maryville only has good coaching
-
one of them did though and badly, the 2013 ensworth team
In a SCRIMMAGE......just like Maryville did to Ensworth this year
-
who in your opinion would then?
Other than Maryville, no one would be top 5 every year. I'm not saying Maryville would be #1 every year, but they'd be top 5. Think about this for a second: If GQ doesn't win 15 games every year, his career winning percentage drops. He has a 94.4% winning percentage, and if he goes 14-1, his percentage for that year is only 93.3%.
-
I'm saying if they played Marvyilles scedule every year y'all would be talking about BA and MBA like y'all talk about Maryville. Because D2 is a powerhouse league it's common for teams to have off years bc of the talent. Maryville would have several off years in D2.
You could combine all teams in TN into 1 classification, and Maryville would be a top 5 team EVERY YEAR. The same could not be said for MBA, BA, Ensworth, Baylor, etc
-
maryville would beat mccallie I'm not disputing that but they wouldn't beat the top 3 teams in D2
Oh ok. So you're conceding that Maryville would beat a top 5 D2 team, but not a top 3 team. Do tell.......who exactly are the top 3 teams?
-
2013 is what I'm referring to.. This year yeah maryville did win big but ensworth had a major down year due to basically their entire team graduating from the previous year and ensworth playing mostly sophomores
Because Maryville doesn't play the competition that D2 has.... BA or MBA could play in that league and not have an " off year" . If you wanna see who has the best you gotta either scedule the best or play in the best league.
Y'all need to get on the same page. I thought the mighty D2 schools only had "off years" due to their grueling region. Now you're telling me that graduation actually factors in to off years??
-
BA,MBA,BAYLOR,MCCALLIE,CHRISTAIN BROTHERS
Blackman beat McCallie this year, and Maryville humiliated Blackman. So there's that
-
I don't think they need to switch leagues but just play an instate D2 team that's good or an out of state power house. I'll just say this for you guys, the ensworth team that that MURDERED MARYVILLE at tech in a scrimmage was blown out by BA 36-10 in regular season then beat BA in playoffs 21-12. This shows how the talent and coaching is better throughout that league
Wait......which year are you talking about? Last I heard Maryville recently murdered Ensworth
-
by league he means the region maryville plays in which is a complete joke
Their region may not be tough, but every year they play Alcoa (would beat most teams in the state most years), and various other state championship-caliber teams.....Knox West, Knox Webb, Fulton, Sevier Co, etc. And they still have to go through the 6A playoffs. It's about as tough of a schedule as you'll find for a PUBLIC school. This year so far, they've played Alcoa, Fulton, Blackman, Oakland, Science Hill, etc
-
By "league" I mean D2 AA which year in and year out produces the most D1 athletes and has the best competition.
So how do you propose that Maryville switch leagues? You know, to prove that they are an elite team. Cause after all, everyone knows that year in and year out, 6A is weak. Maryville, Oakland, Blackman, Whitehaven, etc would not stand a chance against all of those D2 powerhouses
-
Because Maryville doesn't play the competition that D2 has.... BA or MBA could play in that league and not have an " off year" . If you wanna see who has the best you gotta either scedule the best or play in the best league.
So by "league", do you mean 6A?
-
haha your funny! Have you ever seen any D2 team play recently? Or have you been watching your Dobyns Bennett go 1 and done or 2 and through in November every year the D2 coaching is at a whole other level with many of those coaches playing in either the NFL or major college ball. Now yes it does help having athletes but to say that someone is a fool to pick against Maryville is probably the most ignorant thing I've ever seen.. This years BA and MBA's teams would beat them by 14+.. The coaching they have is amazing hence the reason D2 is the toughest region in the state because the teams are discipline and don't make mistakes
Heard the same thing last year. BA beat 6A Science Hill 45-42 last season. Maryville met Science Hill in the 6A quarterfinals last season and won 45-0. To assume that Maryville would cruise through the D2 region and go undefeated without breaking a sweat is foolish. But to believe that Maryville would lose to multiple D2 teams by multiple scores is even more foolish
-
Ok first of all for u sevier fans that think this is going to be easy, trust me it's not the most points Indy has gave up all year have been 20 I'm not even shure ur "stud" offense over there at SC has even put up more that 20 in some games, Indy has constantly put up 40 points or more 38 to Hendersonville 42 to cane ridge 56 to centineal I'm telling you right now Indy is not going to lose just cause of yalls quarterback and receivers Indy don't have just a few players they are stacked sevier better have the bus heaters ready by half
Hey champ. I have no dog in this fight, but please show an example where Sevier County fans were saying this was going to be easy, or saying anything at all for that matter. I'm pretty sure you're the only one talking trash.
If someone were to look at your team's situation objectively, they would realize that after Bunch/Johnson graduate, Independence will quickly fade back to dwelling amidst mediocrity.

Fulton has no chance, maryville is too deep, to well coached and too experienced. Fulton has been trying to get this game for 4 years. Gq is a great head coach and great ad as well. Any of the last 3 Fulton teams would havepossibly stole a game or 2 if played. This years team is in rebuilding mode and doesn't have the horses to hang with maryville for 4 quarters. Their only qb is a freshman and is hurt. It's great these two teams will finally play but when the Fulton ad/basketball coach is open about how hard he's tried to schedule this game the last 3-4 years while maryville was in the paper complaining about how hard it is to find opponents to schedule it makes you think.. Gq wins on the field and in the ad office. He knew Fulton would be rebuilding the next couple years with a really young team and that's when he agrees to play the home and home and they'll probably drum Fulton back to back years. Not saying gq was scared to play Fulton the last 3 years but it would've been a dog fight the last 3 years. This years game will be a boring blowout and it doesn't do this game justice. 3 years too late.
I agree. I would have loved to see this game played when Fulton had Hawkins, Rollins, Smith, etc. Fulton would have given Maryville all they wanted for sure. But now, Maryville is arguably better than they were, and Fulton is definitely worse than they were. Maryville should win convincingly.
-
Fulton went 5-0 in the postseason, including the championship game. They've won 3 gold balls in a row. They would throttle Ooltewah. If Fulton is garbage as you imply, what does that make the mighty owls?5 OF 7 TEAMS IN 5AAA WENT TO THE PLAYOFFS....
PLEEZE GO AND CHECK THE FULTON SCHEDULE AND SEE IS IT ANYBODY ON THAT SCHEDULE WORTH MENTIONING??AND THOSE 60+ POINTS YOU SCORED...HOW MANY GAMES DID THOSE TEAMS WIN?? COME AGAIN SIR... UNION COUNTY AND AUSTIN EAST 2-8??? NOT IMPRESSED...
-
you right...we compete and crack codes every week...we don't fret over your championship run and those teams in knox are as weak as water...who in your district went to the playoffs?? see we like a challenge here and you play the same weaklins to keep your record in tact...and marivul putting you on the schedule because they know you losing alot ...and they put a 4a on the schedule?really?? yal cupcake loverz kill me#smh
You lost to Rhea County by 5 touchdowns.... FIVE!! Your team, my friend, is a cupcake team
-
I'm not trying to offend you or anyone else. No, I was not impressed. I've seen the box scores all year:scoring 80 points just absolutely killing teams. I was expecting this offensive juggernaut. I heard the knoxville fans boasting on here too. I really don't care what they did in the past. I'm talking about this year. Sure, they have plenty of athletes, great coaches, size, but I was expecting the greatest show on turf.
Everyone's (even non-Trezevant fans) been saying how Trezevant had one of the best defenses in the state. Did you really expect Fulton to hang 80 on them in the championship game? Besides, Fulton scored a TON of points on defense and special teams this year.
-
This is 2014 so I can only talk about what happened THIS year. Discredit the kids in 1A and 2A because Yall lost those 2 games? Never. Give it up. The east did a good job this year. I always give respect to whoever wins. You mentioned Alcoa playing up. Did u know that Trezevant has been playing up? They have lowest enrollment of any school playing in 4A in the state. That's why they will be in 2A next year. Thus, did you watch the nationally ranked Fulton vs Trezevant? Did you see who outplayed who? Who controlled the game and have it away? Enough said. Also, you are probably unaware that most Memphis schools have been playing up. If they were in the correct classes then no way the east beats the west each year. You will see next year as a lot of Memphis schools have decided to go ahead and play in their correct classes instead of continuing to play up. Example, 5A big dawgs Ridgeway and Mem East will be in 4A next year. 5A Melrose will be playing in 3A. Mitchell will be in 1A. 6A Mem Central will be in 5A. Hmmmmm Lee's see if 4A and 3A are so easy to win in the future for the east. Once again congrats to EVERYONE who won a gold ball. 1A-6A
Once again, I don't consider a central time zone team like Marion County to be an East TN team. But congrats on beating the 1A team from Coalfield. Really impressive showing.
And yes, I watched Fulton out-perform Trezevant. I have never in my life witnessed a team fumble 10 times in one game.....until now. That was pitiful. They deserved to lose to the nationally-ranked Falcons (by the way, east TN fans aren't responsible for their national ranking.....national experts ranked them).
Hmmmm, do you honestly think that Memphis teams are the only ones that choose to play up??
Lastly, I keep hearing about all these powerhouse Memphis teams. But I never see them lift a gold ball. The only thing that you have to brag about over the east is a team that's 2 hours away from Memphis winning a gold ball for you in 1A football. Congrats
Congratulations to the 2015 Mr. football winner-- Tee Higgins
in Class 5A & Class 6A

You're comparing Nate's Senior highlights to Tee's Sophomore highlights. What exactly are we supposed to take from this?
