Sounds to me like whoever is in charge at Henry County has dropped the ball this year. Didnt yall get approved for a turf field back in February? The athletic director I had seen where he said back after yalls season last year that the field was unplayable even back then. Other teams in the state got turf fields this year so makes you wonder. They chose to do nothing this summer? Poor management is all that can be said.
Bad Management? Do badly managed Football Programs get named "Program of the Decade" by State media outlets? To answer GR8TN08's question, yes, turf was approved by both the School Board and the funding approved by the County Commission. However, both are on record for requesting a newly surfaced track around the playing surface. The Turf field cost is actually a hair under what was proposed....however, given the terrain the stadium is built on, the track, civil engineering, the drainage, etc. is somewhat over budget. These projects are not small ones. They must be handled with extreme due diligence given the cost and the life expectancy of the facility. I would argue the opposite to "TheGuru" and say that management has exercised extreme wisdom and due diligence given the circumstances. Construction on the field project is still on go. Speaking of go...….GO BIG RED!!

An announcement regarding Friday night’s game between Henry Co. High and Beech High School.....
“Due to the forecasted weather of Hurricane Laura and anticipated saturation of the field, adjustments to Henry County High School Patriot Football for this week's game against the Beech Buccaneers have been made. "At this point, we are projected to get a large amount of rain between now and game time Friday night. Other area high schools are also making adjustments to their game schedules for this week." said Coach James Counce, Jr. Weather pending, the game will be played on Friday evening at 7:00 pm at Johnnie Hale Stadium in Milan or an Saturday at 2:00 pm at Johnnie Hale Stadium in Milan. A decision will be made by Thursday afternoon and communicated to the public. Admission to this game will be treated as a home game. There will be no ticket sales at the gate. Season passes will be honored.”

It's not about being a discount or not lol. Let's just say somebody knows exactly what their doing and the chances of playing a full season or ANY game for that matter is still pretty unlikely in my opinion. With it being non refundable that tells you all you need to know. That's the part I dont agree with.
This is without question the most ridiculous post ever on a Henry Co. thread! Where did you dream this? I just purchased 3 passes for $120.00 earlier this week. “Non-refundable” refers to if a person purchases a season pass and chooses not to attend for whatever reason. Their money or a portion of their pass is “non-refundable.” If the season is cancelled, do you really think the school would keep a person’s money? The school WILL refund all monies for these passes if there are no football games this Fall. For that matter, if the season is cancelled, I firmly intend for them to keep my $120.00 and add it to the General Athletic Fund. Further, I would then purchase these same passes/tickets next season. But whatever your position, please quit spreading fake and false information.....it’s bad for the football business!

There are three people vying for the lead in BGIM. Myself, dannyq, and olddevil. There are others nipping on our heels. Some folks have some ground to make up. (cough*BHS*cough) ... What better way then to have another week of BGIM with 19 games to select. Remember ... there is a Thursday game. We are starting to see district games being played, especially in 6A. These games matter, even at the third game of the season.

KIPPI've selected 18 games for the inaugural 2016 Big Games in Memphis activity. Those of you who participate know how we do this. Be careful because there are Thursday night games, as well as, Friday and Saturday night games. Don't miss out and start your season off on a wrong note. The first half of the season is critical in being a top performer. If you get behind in the beginning, it is hard to catch up. As is our custom, these games involve schools that are in the Memphis area, be it private or public school. With that being said the following are the games that have been selected to be in the first week of BGIM for 2016:
Games being played on Thursday, August 18, 2016:
Game 1: KIPP vs Memphis Overton @ Melrose
Games being played on Friday, August 19, 2016:
Game 2: Kirby @ Arlington
Game 3: White Station @ CBHS
Game 4: Millington @ Bolton
Game 5: Briarcrest @ ECS
Game 6: MAHS @ Brighton
Game 7: St. Benedict @ Collierville
Game 8: East @ Cordova
Game 9: Humbolt vs Fairley @ J.P. Freeman
Game 10: Lausanne @ Germantown
Game 11: Ridgeway @ Houston
Game 12: Manassas @ Center Hill (MS)
Game 13: Pope John Paul II @ Melrose
Game 14: MUS @ Central (Crump Stadium)
Game 15: Munford @ Covington
Game 16: Raleigh Egypt @ Lewisburg (MS)
Games played on Saturday, August 20, 2016:
Game 17: Mitchell @ Whitehaven ... @ 8:00 PM (Whitehaven Classic)
Game 18: KIPP vs Trezevant @ Crump ... @ 7:30 PM (North Memphis Classic)
Yes ... again, KIPP plays back to back games in one week end just like they did last year. So, this Saturday night we will have the Kansas State dual-threat QB commit, Dwayne Betts with 1A - KIPP (coached by Tim Thompson) playing against the Clemson RB commit, Cordarian Richardson with 2A - Trezevant (coached by Telli White). Man ... that's going to be a good one.
Ah ... so many choices ...
Just for your edification ... Saturday, August 20, 2016
Whitehaven Classic games @ Whitehaven Memorial Stadium
Game 1: Hamilton vs Hillcrest @ 3:00 PM
Game 2: Southwind vs Westwood @ 5:00 PM
Game 3: Mitchell vs Whitehaven @ 8:00 PM

It's simply a difference of opinion clubprez. Everyone has different thoughts on how situations are handled. As I stated earlier, we have a great program and great coaches. Sometimes it's okay to disagree with the choices that are made, but I'm not the coach. I respect them and their decisions, just don't agree with all of them. I will not respond to any other posts on this topic because it's just a distraction. GO PATRIOTS!!!!
Redblooded....I totally agree with you. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
No two or three people will ever agree on personnel matters, defensive alignment, offensive play calls, or overall scheme. However, what is never okay is to distort facts and assume one kid is playing over another due to their parents' status within the community. When a person does this (without strong evidence or justification) I promise to call that person to the carpet regardless if we are acquaintances, friends, or even kin. It's extreme nonsense and brings to light a loser, a fraud, and a short cut taker who thinks their kid should be playing in front of another!
Fortunately, as long as I've been involved with the program, we've not had much of this chatter to have to deal with. Ironically, it usually begins following a loss....makes me wonder and scratch my head every time!

In response to qbclubprez.... I think that hcredgoldball2 was just saying that students need to be held accountable for their actions. Most anyone that is close to this program knows what he is referring to, but the poster doesn't want to go into great detail on social media. We have a great program and coaching staff. The actions of a very small percentage of players can bring down moral and also cause bad publicity. These actions need to be addressed in a stern mannor. We don't want out programs name tarnished. With that being said GO PATRIOTS!!!!!
Apparently that is NOT what the poster is referring to given his loose use of the term "politics". He/she obviously has something else that's got him/her worked up.
Further, what player/players have NOT been held accountable for their actions? The only instance of a major violation of a team policy I'm aware of has been handled harshly. One specific young man has been held out of practice for several weeks, (fulfilling disciplinary actions while others were practicing) and the once he returned, he nearly rotted on the sideline while serving an additional sentence -which by the way was the coach's decision and no one else's! So I would ask this person, or anyone else with an accountability question....Exactly what is accountablity and who is NOT being held accountable within the Henry Co. Football program?
Lastly, here's something EVERY person needs to understand...."Losers assemble in small groups and complain about the coaches and other players. Winners assemble as a team and find ways to win."
Every one who talks this nonsense is described in the first phrase of this quote!....It's that simple! If there are further questions regarding this matter, call me and I'll arrange a meeting as to generate some clarity and transparency to the matter. My guess however, is that this person isn't interested in a truthful answer rather than is more interested in division and distraction. Regardless, I'll still handle setting up that meeting....if you do not know who I am or how to reach me....ask somebody!
