  1. Hard to say. The Raiders Defense shutout Lebanon in the Jamboree. But I would say Shelbyville is better than Lebanon. Last year the issue was poor defense and offensive turnovers. If that has been addressed this off season, which from everything Ive heard both areas are much improved, this could be a competitive game. Morton and Rozier may both put on a show Friday night. Lets see who has the better Defense and who makes fewer mistakes. Also, hopefully Special Teams is addressed. Blocked punts, Returns allowed for touchdowns, and poor kicking and punting killed us last year a lot more than people realize.

  2. I didnt say Coffee County would win the game but anything other than a big win from Independence would be embarrassing. Ive seen Indy's schedule and its brutal especially with Hillsboro and Franklin coming up. I know CC isnt in their league. What Im saying is this is a much more important game to CC then Independence. I hope the players and staff here show up with an attitude that we want respect instead of laying down and getting beat by 40 points. Independence has alot more to lose, one being respect. Something CC doesnt have but wants. Indy still has to care of business. Go ahead and laugh all you want to. Probably will lose but Im hoping Coffee County plays hard and raises some eyebrows. Even a close loss would be huge for us. Not every team in the state has former NFL players as coaches or blessed with a plethora of athletes. Independence should count their blessings instead of laugh at other schools. Just saying.

  3. I've given this a lot of thought and prognostication. I've decided that the answer to your question, Is Indy for Real? is :

    no............

No offense - o.k. defense - so so coaching - enjoy the winning streak. I know you guys are concerned about that juggernaut of Tennessee football: Coffee County.

Independence definitely has the better athletes but if you sleep on Coffee County it could hurt you. You still have to play the game there are no automatic wins, especially in high school football. Coffee County WILL show up to play. Independence better too or the question this thread asks will be answered.

  4. Warren County had an opportunity last year by actually having some talent on the field but it didnt work out. I think its a rebuilding year for them but they will surprise some teams. The fact they didnt really play any Freshmen or JV games last year will hurt their depth this year. With Coffee County returning so many starters, White County getting better every year under Malone, and Cookeville always being able to reload, the goals should be improvement based. Warren County's scrappy though so who knows.

  5. The teams are Coffee County, White County, Cumberland County, Cookeville, and Warren County. Coffee County is the defending champions and have only lost about 5 starters from last season. Cookeville is always tough and White County is well coached and has improved every year under Malone. Warren County lost a lot of talent from last year and Cumberland County lost an excellent QB. It should be pretty competitive but Im going with Coffee County. They should be much improved under Coach Davis.

  6. #2 is Chris Murray. He's been a receiver for 2 games. How does that make him a lock for all district receiver? Also, do you really think Cumberland Co. should have more players than Cookeville? Give me a break Captain Bias.

Here are the players that I think are locks for the all district team:

Cumberland Co.: Terryl Bowen 26tds 2000 allpurpose yards 1 interception on defense, Tyler Howard has 10+ Tds and 1000yds rushing 1 kick return td, Dakota "Moose" Rucker.

    Warren Co.: Northcutt, Robinson

Coffee Co.: Receiver (#2 I think)

    Cookeville: Bush, Martin for sure

I am sure there are others that I have left off here, but these are the ones that should be unanimous. Sorry White and Coffee Co, I havent seen either of you play enough to add much.

  7. Northcutt has talent, but is more of an overachiever. Not even close to the best back in the state. He does run hard though.

Caleb Northcutt - Warren County. Caleb is a hard nose runner with great speed, great cutback ability (a natural). He is 2nd place in school history to the great Jeff Womack in rushing and touchdowns and is averaging more yards per carry than Womack did. Womack held the state rushing record with 6,450 yards. A great feat for a three year career, compared to runningbacks today who have 4 years to pad their stats. Congratulations, Caleb on another great season. In the eyes, of Warren County fans, you are the best running back in the state. And, hopefully another region MVP award awaits you.

  8. Wow 5 posts and no one from Tullahoma saying how much better they are then people from Manchester. Could it be possible we can go the entire week without Tullahoma saying how amazing they are and without Manchester crying about it? Looks like we might actually have a sportsmanlike and mature Coffee Pot week that is actually about the football game and not who lives in the better part of the county. Of course it is only Tuesday.

  9. Well, it's football time again here in Coffee Co. How do we know it's that time again? Here are a few indicators to help us out:

    -Radio centers around FOOTBALL!

-Heaven forbid you have something break at a school, it won't get fixed, because maintence workers are at the field getting ready for Friday night FOOTBALL!

-Disgusted looks on all atheletes faces that play other school sports because they wish they had 1/2 the money spent on their sport as we do on FOOTBALL!

It would be different if we could have a winning season, much less win a conference game. I would even settle for a loss that didn't make us tuck our heads when we leave the $1,000,000 stadium. Lets face it, we haven't had many football players in the past. Yes their have been several standouts, but it takes more that one or two to make a good team. I feel, like alot of people I talked to Friday night, that it's time we get our priorities straight. There are many other CHS sports teams that do win games and even go far in district and region play. When is the last time football can say that? Anyway, hopefully the Red Raiders can pull it together and win a few, but I wouldn't bet on it, sorry.

Just shut up and be glad their are sports for cry babies like you. Loser.

  10. As satisfying as it would be for blackman to annihilate tullahoma in the same fashion, what I know is that usually when one team blows out another, the next year could be bad news. ex. in 06 tullahoma beat CC 42-7, next year CC wins. in 05 brentwood annihilates CC, in 06 brentwood has to kick a 40 yarder with time running out to win. Tullahoma is good, hope blackman can handle them.

  11. Choose a school based on where you and your family are comfortable. Both schools have good coaching staffs and both schools have good teachers. Speak to the coaches at both schools and check out the facilities. Check out the community and find where you and your son are most comfortable. He will have to earn a spot wherever he goes. there are positives and negatives to both schools even though tullahoma will not admit any of their negatives. The raiders still run the wing t so I feel that it would be an easier transition but like I said, your son has to earn the right to play wherever he goes. Send him to where it feels right. Maybe pray about it and see if God leads you one way or the other.
