  1. Is Watertown that far down this year? We picked them up for a home/home this year. Our understanding was they're a solid team but I have absolutely no info on them. The only thing any of us know is what the '08 film shows us. Don't know anything before or since that game really.

The '08 class was arguable one of the best teams in H2O history. Sad to say that since we lost first round but overall talent wise and leadership one of the better teams. There is a lot of potential on this years team with a lot of younger guys that should be able to compete but this is not the same level of guys Watertown has had in the past.

  2. Its funny looking back in time and seeing all the talk about which players are good and what not. Comparing all the kids to one another and seeing who goes on to the next level. Looking back now tho it goes to show that Lennox was better than Ford, Lennox playing at D-2 powerhouse Carson-Newman. I believe he started on game his Freshman year and then 2 or 3 his sophomore year. Not putting Ford down in anyway cause i know injury plagued him his senior year but he never was a deciding factor in any of the H2O-TC games. Tacola was always the impact player, kind of disappointed that neither one of them took their talents to the next level. Just goes to show that you have to have the heart and determination, to keep moving on but just want to congraulate Nick Lennox at Carson-Newman, Dalton Phillips at Murray State, and T.J. Hall at Cumberland University for taking their talents to the next level and giving Watertown a good name. And wish the same for all the other players from our region that have made the step to the next level.

  3. I'd been wondering who bigjazzy was and if i knew them but now that i know i can say that every since you coach jobe and coach gaines came to the jr high ya'll have done good things and got to know you well. I got to play with Antonio for two years and he played safety behind me my senior year and everytime we did a drill i made sure he had to guard me and i'd give him a hard time cause i knew he could be good. I told him after my last game that i did all that cause i knew that he had a chance to play at the next level and be a heck of a ball player. Every time i helped coach him up he'd never get mad or anything he always listened and got better. Wish him the best of luck in his recruiting process and even if he doesn't get a scholarship, i hope he decides to walk-on and continue to play.

  4. Say what you might that I left for the other games but this will most likely be my only post this week too due to many of my teachers wanting to have test so i've been trying to get that degree and play ball at the same time but tonight i'm gonna be a slacker...

Needless to say, Watertown wasn't as good as their 6-0 and i wasn't going to go against them until proven otherwise. Finally got to make it home for a game tho and i will say that i thought that we played two good quaters of football except for finishing a few drives. TC has always been strong and persistant in the 2nd half and really gave us no shot of staying in the game. Now to JC, haven't heard much about them but from the above post it seems that it should be a close one. If Watertown comes out to play with good intensity and cleans up some mistakes and tackles on defense and Ty is better in his decision making then we should be okay. I did get a chance to talk to Coach Webster and he said that if we won then we'd mostly get a home playoff game and could potentially be against Jackson again. Kinda crazy to play the same team twice in a row, this playoff system is all messed up but that wouldn't be bad for either team if it happened.

  5. I have seen h20 a couple of times this year, still think they have some it's all about me players. They have talent but can they put it all together. I haven't seen fcs play, but i have watched gordonsville and they are tough, they play as a team. I hope h20 can come together as a team, and play for each other. we will see

I haven't got to see us play live but did get to watch some of the Cannon game on the internet but hopefully they can pull together on this one. I did see FCS and gville play tho and i just thought fc looked sloppy, don't know if it was cause of gville but just wasn't the fc that i ever played.

  6. I think h2o will lose this game, but it will be closer than some people think. Watertown has the talent to be in this ballgame in the 4th but as i have said in other post i question their toughness. If they show some heart fri night it will be a game,if not then it will be ugly. FCS is the weakest out of the next three for watertown so this will be a good measuring stick. Swanson71 love yal's coach, going to be fun to watch in the future.

I think Watertown has always played with heart and toughness in the past. I can't honestly speak about this years team because i haven't made it to a game but i know in the offseason they put the work in to be great. And from playing under Coach Webster i know he always stressing playing with great heart. In the past Watertown has a lot of selfish players and its killed us but i think this team finally understands it. I think it will be a close one also but i have Watertown on top. Hoping i get to come home and watch this match up.

  7. If this was the 80 or early 90s, it may mean something but the 10 or 15 years there have been a lot of 4-6 and 3-7 teams making the playoffs.

I wouldn't know anything about the 80's or early 90's and honestly can't give you a ton of stats before i started high school but i'm not sure that we ever made the playoffs as one of those teams, could be wrong but not that i know of. I do know that my freshman year, which was the 06 season, was the first time we missed the playoffs in 7 or 8 years. In our region you had to be on top of your game, week in and week out. My sophomore year in week 9 we were 7-1 and if we beat g-ville that game we would have clinched the region but we lost and the next week we had to win in 2OT to even get in the playoffs.

  8. Like I said you can keep your average football team because football is as good as it gets in Watertown. We aren't very good at football, but like Croz said we are above or have been above average in every other sport. Multiple district championships in 5 different sports. But this is football and you are right, we just aren't very good at football. However, RBS has a good coach and the players are caring and the big thing in RBS that hasn't happened in the past is our athletes are starting to play. Still have a long way to go but we're on our way up

    Any score on this game?

28-14 is the correct score to the game. I wouldn't say that Watertown is an average football program, are they on the same level as a TC or FC certaintly not but they've missed the playoffs twice in the last 9 or 10 years i believe so i would put them above a slighty average football team. I can't argue with you on that the fact that none of our other sports are worth any mentioning although the past few years after Coach Hewitt took over the boys basketball, they have been making strides and i look for them to continue to get better with Coach Bradshaw. I'll agree that they are on the way up and i hope they do continue to get better so that the region will be even stronger.

  9. OK, next season, start your season out like Gordonsville does theirs ( SC FC, TC ), then

come back with your new perspective. Just saying....

We used to start the season with those teams, not including SC. If it were up to me i wouldn't have changed the schedule like that but does it really matter when you play somebody you still have to be ready to play.

  10. NCAA and NFL are all about the QB. They throw it regularly,so they end up with 60-70 plays a game. Makes everything seem faster. TC plays ball control and clock management(very effectively), as do most good smaller HS teams. Na..scratch that. TC plays physical and punishing style of football. Na...scratch that....TC will change things up depending on what the coaches think they need to do win the game...Na scratch that......

    TC JUST WINS!!!!!!!!!

Its not all about the QB, they just end up getting the most credit for it. Look at all the amazing catches that were made in last weeks game, WR's are a big factor in that.

Nontheless nobody can argue that TC wins.

  11. Unrealistic explanation: go back & read Crozs post on being unrealistic.

Betting the farm on a scrimmage game is like being your own attorney. Foolish.

Your stock will take a nose dive starting in Oct. But, then, Clay doesn't

    come with a guarantee either.

Never did i say that because Watertown tied SC in a spring scrimmage that it meant that they were going to beat anybody.

It was simply noted to put a little prespective in the equation that Watertown is capable of playing with a stronger opponent.

If any game came with a guarantee then there would be no need to play because we'd already know who would win.

  12. I was at that scrimmage and the only way Watertown would have tied SC iswhen the JV or freshmen started playing. What I saw is when the first team defense was in for Smith County, Watertown did not have but maybe 1 or 2 plays for positive yards offensively.

The scrimmage was 1-1 while the starters were and then SC scored again while the twos were playing. Neither team did anything offensively but both defensives played well the whole game. But as you said its a spring scrimmage and doesn't matter.

  13. You can hang your hat on a spring scrimmage all you want, but you will end up disappointed. BTW, Gville lost by 1, not that it matters.

If you want to look at common opponents, look at when both H2O and Gville played Monterey. That should be apples to apples.

Stand by your team, but sometimes you need to be realistic.

Not hanging anything on a spring scrimmage as i clearly stated that it doesn't matter but since everyone likes to compare teams who played teams, i just thought i would bring that up. I don't care about common opponets cause thats not the type of guy i am, as an athlete myself i know that on any night a lesser team can play and even beat the bigger opponent. Respect in the region for Watertown has never been there so i don't expect it now but i never said anything about that they were gonna beat FC, G-ville, or TC. Do i think that they are capable of beating all three of them, yes. So Mr. Croz please explain to me how in any way am i being unrealistic?

  14. Yeah Watertown only beat Monterey by 10 but both of those teams have always played each other close regardless of how good or bad either team was. Same thing with Watertown and G-ville, for the most part you can always expect a good game. You can't judge how good or bad a team is by one team playing them close. Maybe Clay isn't as bad as their record show or Watertown isn't as good as theirs shows but until they get beat i'm gonna stick by that Watertown is a good and can compete with the better teams in the region. And I may point out that Watertown tied Smith County in a scrimage, a team that G-ville lost to by 2. Not that spring matters but since were pointing out teams that played the same teams.

  15. Watertown is 5-0. That can't be taken away from them, but I must draw attention to the teams that they have beaten.

    1) Cannon County 0-6

    2) Huntland 2-3

    3) Red Boilng Springs 2-3

    4) Pickett County 0-6

    5) Monterey 2-4

These aren't quality teams, and they are 6-22 overall. Once again 5-0 is a great mark. I wish Clay County had that record. Let's take a look at who Clay has played.

    1) Taft 1-3

    2) Dekalb County 5-1

    3) Monterey 2-4

    4) Friendship 4-2

    5) Red Boiling 2-3

    6) Trousdale 4-1

Three of these teams are quality teams, and they are 18-15 overall. Clay is 2-4 playing this schedule. If Watertown played this schedule they woulld be 3-3. Monterey was a bad game for Clay. I will make no excuses for that game though, Monterey out-played and out-coached them.

The thing is Watertown has beat everybody that should of beat and beat them bad like they should have with the exception of Monterey. Clay has beat two teams that aren't very good and haven't played close to the teams that were any count. Its hard to say who is gonna win just by going by who beat who, especially when they haven't played the same teams.
