  1. totally your opinion, and i believe i am allowed to have mine.  He totally lost my respect when he gave up on his girls during district tournament and put JV players in.  What was that suppose to prove.  There was a varstiy player sitting on the bench who never went in.  why play a JV player over a varsity.  besides the point that he sat on his butt and poutted like a baby.  Not all the girls like him or his coaching abilities.  Looking forward to seeing siegel play Thursday night.  Good luck ladies.  Also, I would like to say a special "great effort" on behalf of the Riverdale team.  they worked hard.  I noticed some worked harder than others, but it was a great effort.

  2. Interesting because he is highly thought of in Club. So much so that his entire 15 team followed him from one club to the other to be a satellite 16 team.

there was an alterior motive for that situation.  he wanted all his reiverdale girls to stay together to become stronger for the school year.  has nothing to do with him being a good coach.  right now, the girls seem off balance, and Jerry can't seem to get their act together.  what does that tell you?  i can not wait to see them play my team (blackman) next week.  should be interesting.

  3. Blackman and siegel are the more dominant teams, riverdale, even though, strong, will not be able to sustain a good level of playing.  especially by the helm of Jerry.  His leadership is weak, and has a really bad rotation with these girls.  heard that he was leaving this year.  that will be a good thing in the future fo those lady warriors.

  4. Sam Hoadwonic, a Sophomore at the time, was the Riverdale pitcher in '09. They had to beat Beech twice in the championship round (4-2 in Game 1, 9-1 in Game 2), as Beech had put them in the Losers' Bracket with a 6-0 win earlier in the tournament.

Siegel also made that tournament, and Riverdale knocked them out. Oddly enough, it was Siegel who beat Riverdale in the 4-AAA final, sending the Lady Warriors to Soddy.

During the offseason, Albritton worked hard enough to gain the starter's spot from Hoadwonic, who left the team after the 2010 season.

Predictions? I can't see it being anyone other than Beech and Soddy. Having seen most of these teams, I'd say Coffee and Mt. Juliet are probably their biggest threats.

a sophmore, wow. has any other sophmore won state? seems impressive to me. It seems to me that this year is going to be impressive by all the teams. can't wait to see how this plays out.

  5. Riverdale beat Soddy at Soddy in '09 to reach state, which they subsequently won.

wow, seriously? Cat graduated in '08, so who was the pitcher? if i do the math right, rachel allbritton would have been a freshman. they must have had a good team. who did they beat in state? thanks for info. been out of the loop for a while.

congrats to all teams making it to state.

anyone have any predictions. heard coffee county is a team to look out for

  6. There are several freshman in District 7 AAA that may make an impact on their teams this year.

Riverdale- Mattie Woodruff, Brooklyn Pendergrast, Caroline Faulkner and Emily Thompson

    Blackman- Kirstyn Cuccia

    Oakland- Shelby Sargeant

    Smyrna- Kristen Husicker

    Lavergne- Destiny Ginn, Crimson Reynolds

I completely disagree with the riverdale freshman, mattie, yes, but the others, no way, they are good, not great. brooklyn will never be her sister. emily, really? not!!! she can't move.

cuccia and sargeant, now those are some girls to watch. they have a lot of potential, good luck girls.

  7. I have been to several tournaments and games this year and watched several umpires make it harder for teams like Riverdale, Beech, Goodpasture and a few other usually dominant teams. It seems the strike zone for these schools are smaller they have to pitch it right down the middle for a strike, forget about working corners, and when they are up to bat the strike zone expands. It is very biased. This is why you see the pitchers who should be dominating giving up hits to batters that should still be in rec league ball. Anyone can hit a ball down the middle. Its only hurting the teams who are getting the calls because when it gets closer to tournament time these biased umpires change the way of thinking. These teams still win because of thier dedication to excellence and will to win. You only make it more difficult for the teams who need to learn to hit against a good pitcher in the long run.

i think it's a good idea to have a tighter strike zone. a couple of years ago, they changed the pitching distance so that these girls could get ready for college. (hitters and pitchers). why not have the strike zone tighter. my daughter plays in college and the strike zone is extremely tight. i wish she would have had a tighter zone in high school. it was hard for her to pitch and make those adjustments. makes the pitcher work harder, which they should. have you ever seen the olympic girls, their strike zone is insane

  8. was not earthquake related, it was a couple big guys hitting the ground after getting knocked out.

Not that anybody asked me... but I believe they would have been fresher had they played 10-12 fewer games, especially Rachael.

guess coaches never learn from their mistakes.

  9. Finally i got somebody to agree with me... Coffee has to much right now for just about anybody in the State... THE ROAD TO THE FLING IS THROUGH MANCHESTER!!!!!!!

IF OTHERS, don't agree with us, they haven't watched coffee county lately.

  10. Going to be a good game/ Coffee peaking at the right time and Riverdale's peak has come and gone. Coffee going to rock the house... Coffee by 4.... Spring Fling Baby........

Totally AGREE coffee is on a mission.

  11. walk off grand slam by Eldridge in the 8th, LC 5 Riverdale 1

absolutely amazing game, and great turn out. congrats LC Eldridge rocks. must be hard for the pitcher from riverdale to swollow. a grand slam to end the game. that hurts. riverdale goes to coffee co. good luck coffee county and soddy goes to LC, go LC want to see you in the State tournament. great game girls. everyone worked hard, the better team won, that's all. have a good evening everyone

  12. It's 43 feet, it makes a big different. I don't care what any one says.

Fixed bats also contribute to the homers. i know some teams who have those bats. not quite fair, don't ya think?

  13. Totally uncalled for, maybe you should keep your big mouth shut.

of course, i meant that in a respectful way. Don't get your panties in a wad. Sometimes parents are the reason their kids struggle or don't do good, that is all I am saying. Shelby is the topic here, she will be amazing. wait and see

  14. I think Shelby Heath will turn some heads this year at Blackman. She's got the smoke! I heard she was working with Connell. Also heard she had a good showing at Oakland last week pitching and hitting (1st homerun of the season).

She is one to watch out for. But, her Father has to keep his BIG mouth Shut, if her can do that, Shelby will be a force to wreckin with. Good Luck Shelby and Good Luck Blackman, you have a big fan here

  15. heard that is all that riverdale has. they have no back up. She'll get burned out fast, that's what happened last year anyways. she got tired, hope the coach can learn from his mistakes. looking forward to watching soddy again this year. licoln county may be one of my favorites this year. who are your favorites?

Rachel Albritton is the pitcher from Riverdale. She is very impressive and works hard.
