    Bryan Smith is from Eagleville

  2. Don't be so sure about that, Debian is good but so is Cyree it will be a good match. Another upset is Legrand Sommers, beat Austin Oliver in the quarter finals and is one match away from being in the Finals What a Stripling Warrior :) . Trenton Bell from Hunters lane is making Quite a showing for himself, and last but not least what happened to Caleb Little.

  3. Seems like Bradley had a couple of Ivy league wrestlers. Didn't Josh Patton get back into it at Navy. Cornell doesn't have any tn wtestlers? No more at West Point? Bundy?

We wrestled Dickson County on their Senior Night and i think that they said that Fletcher Valentine was going to West Point don't know if its to wrestle though, either way it a great acomplishment.

  4. 152 is going to be the weight class to watch, like they said earlier, (even though they aren't the wrestlers they mentioned), it will still be one heck of a weight class. Any one of them could take home the Gold.

  5. havent heard about tullahoma 106, just know he is tough. I heard dodson was going to try for 106 so i wasnt sure there either. we wont know for sure until the seeding meeting wednesday.

thanks for the nice words- our 220 has been working hard.

Any results from the meeting last night?

  6. No problem, there were some big upsets. Kramer is the best Freshman upper weight out of Region V since Scottie Boykin a couple of years ago.

I am positive Cody won though, because the temper tantrum that the "C" 195 threw after he lost cost his team a point, and made it 18-18 instead of 19-18 Central.

I was surprised that pigeon forge even made it into the finals i bet that semi-final match with Hixson was one of the biggest matches of the weekend.

  7. Some of those are incorrect. Cody Davis won the central match with a pin. I was standing about 30 ft away at the time so of this I am sure. The Blackman kid was getting beat by Taylor and caught him making a freshman mistake and pinned him. Taylor wins that match 9out of 10 times IMHO. Hayden Jordan did not look 100 percent to me this weekend with his knee brace and he ended up with his arm in a sling after the SH match.

Kramer did convincingly win over Swanson, no doubt on that one. I did not see the others you mentioned.

Thanks raider i was not able to attend this weekend and i just saw those results on the website, guess i should have tried and cleared those before i posted them.

  8. According to TSSAA website;

126 Edward Davila (Blackman) pinned; Ezra Taylor (Cleveland) 4:26 (Ranked 3rd)

138 Dedrick Mays (Cordova) majored; Caleb Little (Independence)15-5 (Ranked 5th)

160 Derrick Tucker (Germantown) Dec.; Hayden Jordan (Clarksville) 8-2 (Previous rank 5th @ 152)

160 Jose Rosas (Knoxville West) Pinned; Kegan Matlock (Heritage) 3:00 (Ranked 1st @ 152)

195 Truman Martin (Chattanooga Central) Pinned; Cody Davis (Pigeon Forge) 2:49 (Ranked 1st)

220 John Kramer (Wilson Central) Dec; Billy Swanson (Soddy Daisy) 12-6 (Ranked 2nd)

What are your guys opions on how this will effect the state rankings?

(and if you have any more upsets please post)

  9. I'm gonna guess it will be collierville in region 8 have killing Houston last time..however I believe germantown dropped some.weights so.should be interesting

If I'm not mistaking Germantown, Collierville, and Houston are in AAA (Big Schools), and not A-AA (Small Schools).

  10. ScottyMike...News flash, just like yesterday and the day before, nobody cares what you have to say. From what I heard it was a pretty close match the last time the Mules and the Purple Pansies wrestled. Nothing to gain or not, you man up and wrestle. No excuse for that but I wouldn't expect someone like you to understand that. I just talked to one of my good friends at Hixson and they haven't backed out of a match this year. I also asked a good friend at Notre Dame, they haven't backed out of a match either. Nor has Soddy, Baylor, or Bradley. All these teams have made a habit out of winning but even when they aren't winning they conduct themselves with dignity and character. Little C could learn from them. Enjoy last years title while it lasts because you don't become a champion by cutting corners and avoiding competition.

    Very well said my friend

  11. I never attended the tournament when held at UTC, but I've heard it was a great experience for the athletes.

That said the opportunity to run a complete double elimination tournament is better for all athletes involved.

As for supporting the only Div 1 program in the state, isn't it time to grow wrestling at other venues, MTSU has a club team which given the support and opportunity could eventually become an NCAA team. I have limited experience with Tennessee wrestling, but it is obvious that the Chattanooga area has a rich tradition of TSSAA wrestling with the titles to show for it, the last champion from outside Chattanooga was Clarksville in 2000. Instead of living in the past, make the most of the new location, suggest improvements if you have any ("If you aren't part of the solution, you are part of the problem.").

This is my son's last year of wrestling, but I would like to see wrestling grow in every part of the state so that maybe the state tournament would be more competitive and the eventual team champion not come down to Bradley or Soddy every year.

    Franklin won in 2005 also.

  12. OK ladies I am finally back after being decarcerated! I did not get a chance to brag about THE C's 2011 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP that I predicted back before the season started, so my credentials here are above reproach. Nobody else saw that one coming, did ya?? THE ALMOST UNDEFEATED C may get a some competition this season from hickson and that fat ASSt coach they have, any body else? no der dam got anything or they gonna get stomped by THE C again? Don't bring up Eagleville (or Easyville as we call them over at THE C), or those crap magnet schools in Trashville. Piglet Forge and those lard butts? Sorry no chance you guys got lucky to get to the finals last year. hickson and THE C for all the marbles in February. Look for me in my purple and gold girls!

Remember - ITS ALL ABOUT THE C © IN CHOO CHOO TOWN HAMMER "EM POUNDERS!

Whoa somebody is riding pretty high on their horse, what makes you so confident they will make it to the finals again Mr. Wise one.

  13. This was my first tournament to see in Tennessee as my family has moved here from California. I was really impressed with the wrestling my sons and I saw. Christian Brothers certainly had some talented wrestlers as expected from a private school but I was impressed with some of the public schools and their wrestlers. The 126 champ from some school I guess near Nashville was very tough. Didnt get his name but he and the 106 pounder from Christian Brothers had some intense matches where they really seperated themselves from what looked to be good competition. Thanks for the great 1st impression of your states and some of the south's wrestling.

The 126 champion was Legrand Sommers from Blackman high school in Murfreesboro, and yes he is very tough, hard nosed kid. I have been very impressed with him over the years. I think that this might just be his year to shine.

  14. Gordonsville wins going away. Eagleville might keep it close for a quarter but no more than that. Gordonsville wins by 35. Is the Smith kid for Eagleville not playing this year?

He decided to quit and focus on his main sport of baseball. The kid is a beastly pitcher and the eagles are looking to win a state title in more than just football.

  15. This was an 8-6 match at state. I believe Woods has been on the wrong side of the state bracket for the last 2 years.

Well said, he has been placed on the wrong side for two years, in 2010 he was placed against Marvin Lopez and then last year he had that match against campbell (which was a great match by the way). This should be his year to shine good luck to him

  16. No doubt in my mind that Forrest wins. Eagleville slipped by a very down C'wood team that Forrest handled fairly easily. Both were home games against C'wood so no excuse there. Forrest 22 Eagleville 6

Yeah but Eagleville had a shut out their d-fence is on fire, all im saying is this should be a really good game im looking forward to.
