  1. I agree all the blame can't be put on the coaches but there is something fundamentally wrong when the center has block responsiblility on a backer when he has a nose guard on him.... I would of thought it was player error until I kept seeing it play after play.. If your telling your kid to let a nose guard go and just go after a backer, sometimes even a outside backer there is something wrong with your blocking stragegy, the play is blown up even before your running back gets to the hole espically when playing a D line like oak ridge.

They changed his assignment because against powell he admitted to being scared of being hit by the nose. Thats also the beloved Pike you talk about previous. He might of played in an All American game as a Middle schooler but he has yet to work hard. The kid has tons of potential, but has yet to show any work ethic. At the practices I have been to he is always the last one on the field having to run for being late.

There has definitely been some coaching struggles, but not all of that can be blamed on coaches. When you get beat deep twice last night in a Cover 3, then you have kids not doing what they are supposed to. Just one of many examples that can be given of kids not doing what they are supposed to.

Also, Clinton called timeouts at the end of the game to get their Senior Tailback a touchdown against a huge rival. That kid gives it his all everyday despite the fact alot of his teammates have packed it in for the year. He was much deserving of that touchdown.

  2. A few questions about Clinton Dragon football 92: How many Sr.s on this squad and what kind of nucleus returning? How much difference would Camion Patrick have made, i.e., would his presence have been enough to help win some games and how many? You host D-B next year. Do you see Clinton playing a competitive game against them at home next year?

Thanks , I'll hang up and listen for your answers. :) Good luck Dragons.

Coaches knew it would be a major rebuilding project at CHS. This year has been a struggle. They lose their starting QB for the first 4 games, but were told each week by doctors that he would probably be able to go the next week. Finally Clinton moved on in week 4 and put in a wing-t to get one of their best athletes more involved. His first run results in a torn MCL and out for the year. The next week Williard comes back at QB, which they found out on game day so he hadn't practiced in 6 weeks. Clinton looked better, but rusty. The next week Williard gets a week of practice and looks very sharp. Clinton then loses their 2 leading tacklers for the year in the first half. That was game set match for the year.

The kids who are still playing are getting much better each week, but there is still a long way to go. Clinton had their best offensive half of the season against Powell in the first half. The coaches are now going with younger players, and skipping some seniors that have been refusing to work to get better. 3 of their 4 leading tacklers last friday were freshmen. Their best offensive linemen is a freshmen. They have a sophomore lineman that could be all-state once he starts working and quits relying on only his natural ability. Clinton will be fine in the future. They have very good classes coming up.

  3. I cant believe no one has not mentioned Powell.

Player Att Yrds Avg TDs 2ptC

    Mobley 64 901 14.1 16 4

    McPhetridge 25 337 13.5 4

    H. Owenby 17 202 11.9

    Logan 19 123 6.5 2

Combined for Over 1500 Yards in 5 games, plus Mobley hasn't played much in the second half of some of the games.

  4. Actually Mav, your my buddy, but if you wanna get technical a maverick is a stray calf :)

Also a stray cow or steer. If you want to be technical. It also means they have strayed from their momma, which means their not on the T%$ anymore unlike Oak Ridge people.

  5. Players have been transferring from Campbell Co since Lake City had its own High School and Anderson Co was non-existent. No one had a problem with all of the CC transfers until Big Kerr got there. There were not anymore transfers to AC during Kerr's error then before. It is just more people had a problem with it when AC started winning. The Price twins will have a tough task, but if there were 2 guys to turn it around it is them.

  6. LC had stability in Coach Lee, but he wasn't good enough for some certain parents. Now they have to live with that. Anyone who knew Coach Wright knew he wouldn't last long at LC. He doesn't stick with anything for very long. LC hasn't made a good coaching decision in boys or girls basketball since Mitchell left and they didn't give Scott Dorsett the job, now the boys have gone through 4 coaches in 8 years. The girls program will probably follow that trend.

  7. Seems to me that you need to start complaining about the Public Magnet schools that have open enrollment (East Literature, Liberty, Alcoa). They are the ones winning all the championships and have no multipliers. CPA and the private schools have to live with the harshest multiplier in the nation. No other state comes close to TN.

Alcoa is a regular school not a magnet. Sorry to disappoint you, but you will have to find another excuse to why they beat up on everyone in football. The accept out of zone kids only after city kids enroll, and the open slots go through an application process just like the majority of all regular schools out there.

  8. I say if Anderson County is anything like they were last year, Powell sends them and their soccer mom fans back home Friday night. I saw them play in Columbia last year and they weren't very impressive. They got by on bad calls, otherwise it would have been a blow out.

Soccer Moms??? I'm not sure Anderson Co even has soccer. You might want to worry about your own upcoming playoff game. You will get a dose from Catholic on Friday. They don't play cupcakes like you do in middle tn.

Anyways, this should be a good one. I feel Powell will win this game if they can keep AC under 20 points. If you give them too much of a taste of the end zone it could be over for the Panthers. Powell 26 AC 13

  9. Should be very athletic and up tempo. I expect they will press for 4 quarters, their question will be if they can handle a team that forces them into a half court game. They should be the front-runner in their district, and will be the 3rd best team in the region.

  10. 1 Melrose

    2 Memphis Central

    3 White Station

    4 Ridgeway

    5 Bearden

    6 Dyer Co.

    7 Southwind

    8 Northeast

    9 MBA

    10 Overton (Nashville)

That is what i got but i'm sure their is different opinions.

This is a very good list. I feel any 10 of these teams could be playing for a state title. :thumb:

  11. The brackets are drawn up based on several criteria with wins and the strength of opponents that you have played as the overriding factor. It's a very simple process. If you win your games then your seeding will take care of itself. There is absolutely no subjectivity to the seeding process. It is merely a matter of numbers. If you take time to look at the TSSAA weekly playoff standings you will find that is the case. I'm certainly not here to defend the TSSAA but the current playoff criteria is without bias. If you end up having to play someone in your district, area, quadrant, etc., that you feel is unfair, then go back and look at who you beat and who you lost to versus your playoff competitor.

Best of luck to all the teams and here's hoping that no one has any serious injuries!

If this is true then why is Anderson County rated ahead of the 2 and 3 seeds from quad 2 on the latest TSSAA rankings. That is the whole problem, they are ranked ahead of those 2 other teams. So you want to say there is no subjectivity then this wouldn't be the case. If you say it is on travel, then again you are incorrect because catholic is in the top of that 2nd quad bracket, and they are only 20 minutes apart, and travel time is basically the same to these other schools based on their proximity to interstates traveled.

  12. White Co vs Cumberland Co winner should get in because they would be .500, and that would make them an automatic bid since they are the only 2 5A schools in their district. That would knock Clinton out if they lose, and may knock them out anyway if all of the other 4 win teams ranked ahead of them win also.

  13. I haven't studied it that closely but I'm pretty sure all district wins are weighted equally. Last year the system made a distinction at the end in that the top team from each classification within the district made it to the playoffs. This resulted in the crazy situation where White County in a district with only two 5A teams made it to the playoffs with a 1 - 9 record, just because it beat the only other 5A team in the district.

I believe they changed it to now you have to be .500 to get an automatic bid from your district. There will be wild cards given out for the teams that have the best record over .500, and if there is any teams left over, then they will give wild cards from their records down. I believe this is correct, but when you talking about this ridiculous system, who really knows anymore.

  14. I just wanted to be the only person to vote for CC. There is no way the cougars win this one though. It will be good that Oak Ridge can win one more game before the end of their season. Time to start working on those jump shots. Basketball practice will start in 2 weeks for the football boys.

  15. Wow, how bad has it gotten at Halls. The school needs to clean house. They need to get rid of everybody and start over. They need to hire outside the community, that way there is none of the good ole boy networking going. The Knox area needs Halls to return to the team they used to be.

  16. how can you not name GALEN CAMPBELL.. to me he is the best player in ktown.. he showed what he could do in the last two rocky tops.. averaging 32.5 only player that you can maybe say is better is Wilson

Galen would be top 5 for sure. Galen is quite impressive, and he seems to of gotten a little taller. He will have a great year leading his team to a 3rd place finish in their district.

For scoring in the glorified pick-up games in the Rocky Top League, he shot about 35-40 times a game, and played quite selfish the 4 games I saw him play. His coach also kept him in the entire game even when the game was in hand, other teams let all of their players get a share of the spotlight. Other players in the league actually played team ball.

  17. I know one thing they better not be doing it except when practice allowed, and even then it might not be legal. For the assistant principal that is the AD and a coach is legal as long as their school system allows it. I know school systems that the AD has to be an administrator and they also coach. In this system they have won state championships in the past 5 years and TSSAA has not said anything.
