  1. Heading into the finals...

The old guard leads the pack. It will come down to total goals. So far the tally stands at 18. Italicized scores are final.

Champ is the only one mathematically eliminated from winning, so don't give up yet. (Even you Booger.)

Maybe mine and DCurtis's familiarity with BDP gave us a slight advantage...icon_e_wink.gif

  3. So here's who picked who for the tournament:

    (Out of 10 entries)

    Quarterfinal Winners

    CCS - 10

    CAK - 10

    CPA - 8

    Notre Dame - 7

    White House - 3

    Sacred Heart - 2

    Elizabethton - 0

    Liberty - 0

    Semifinal Winners

    CPA - 6

    Finals

    Notre Dame - 5

    CAK - 4

    White House - 1

Good luck to all the girls. Our pride and egos depend on your performance.

  4. Why don't the public schools try fielding a bunch of football players like we did when we won state 2 years ago. I don't think we had any club players. popcorneater.gif

Works for our boys team. We don't win state but we sure do win a lot more games just by adding athletes and teaching them the game. Doesn't hurt to have a nice physical presence on D either.

  5.

    Get you some of that!

mchsgoal21, Are coming to Nooga to show some d10 love. White House travels well, but I am sure we will be outnumbered. We can round you up some BDP stuff to put on if you want...

Won't be making the trip this year. Can't get off work and probably travelling to watch the OVC tourney in Martin instead. Best of luck to your girls. I know they deserve it and I know that, regardless of the outcome, they've done our little backwoods district proud.

I'll be switching my Central red for some White House blue for this week only. Although, in this election season, that may not be the wisest choice around these parts.

  6.

    Certainly seems odd...

    It's a simple explanation...

From the TSSAA soccer bylaws, Section III Article D: "The eight winners of the sectional games shall advance to the central tournament site. The Board of Control shall make the draw for play at the central tournament site. The draw will be made such that if two teams from the same region qualify for the state, they will be drawn to opposite brackets."

Apparently, someone was unaware that CPA and White House are in the same region. So, just like CCS/Notre Dame and Liberty/Sacred Heart, they have to be on opposite sides of the bracket. Someone caught the mistake and they redrew. No conspiracy here.

  7. The best A/AA public school in the state for 3 years running finally gets their shot. I believe we just put a beat down on the only other team that could make that claim tonight.

Personally, we will play whoever the TSSAA gods put in front of us...

This is how I rank it right now:

    1. Notre Dame (seems to be playing their best right now)

2a. CAK (close scores in normally blowout games seem to indicate uncharacteristic vulnerability)

2b. CPA (always well coached and prepared)

    4. White House (newcomers with a chip on their shoulder and only public with talent to un seat the private chokehold on A/AA.)

    5. CCS

    6. Elizabethton

    7. Sacred Heart (tempting matchup w/ White House.... aka Sacred Heart of Jesus VERSUS the Devils)

    8. Liberty (somebody has to be #8)

    Thoughts??

Agree with the rankings. If only they would use this system when setting the bracket. It seems every year we end up with a potential championship match in the first or second round.

    Regardless...District 10 FTW!!!

BDP (until the tournament is over)

  8. My predictions for the "blind" draw...and the logic that TSSAA isn't (LOL) using for the picks.

    CAK

    Notre Dame

(They've got to trim down the good East TN teams)

    Sacred Heart

    CPA

(First time in the tournament? Prove yourself.)

    White House

    CCS

(Typical rural public school vs. Private)

    Elizabethton

    Liberty

    (The leftovers)

  9. Your scores headed into State...District 10 staking their claim at the top. cool.png

    ChampDDS 44

    AAASoccer 44

    ballbasher30 38

Remember to make your picks for the tournament after the bracket is posted. Also, post your tiebreaker of "total goals scored in the tournament." Your scores carry over, but you get a clean slate with the teams.

  10. you may want to recount that.....I had myself at 46 pointshuh.png

Going by the rules from the first post...

1 point for each Region Semi for a possible total of 16.

2 points for each Region Final for a possible total of 16.

Highest possible score after Regions would be 32.

4 points for each sectional game for a possible total of 32.

Highest possible after Sectionals would be 64.

Dem Kathliks sure kan play sum soccer. But dat math is krazy hard.

    (Sorry. Couldn't resist.)

  11. It's a log jam in the middle. Only one person picked Elizabethton over Greeneville. Cannon takes the lead after just about everyone else whiffed on the Westview/Dyersburg game.

    After Region Finals...

    Cannon 29

    RebelSoccer 28

    ChampDDS 28

    DCurtis 28

    mchsgoal21 28

    akula21 28

    Booger 27

    AAASoccer 24

    ballbasher30 22

  12. DCurtis would have to fill in the blanks...

    West

    MVP: Alex Gibbs (Harpeth)

Offensive MVP: Cierra Adams (Montgomery Central)

Defensive MVP: Mikayla Flake (Montgomery Central)

Best Goalkeeper: Shelby Chapman (Clarksville Academy)

Coach: Mary Beth Burchett (Clarksville Academy)

    East

    MVP: ??? (White House)

    Offensive MVP: ???

    Defensive MVP: ???

    Best Goalkeeper: ??? (Macon County)

    Coach: Jason Bentley (Merrol Hyde)

  13. Okay...as of last night, the Liberty v Chester County game , and other Region 7/8 Semi-final games have already been played, and we have picks coming in after that, do we give any allowances for those games? (Mainly because I picked Liberty to win, dang it)...

    D

Pretty sure everyone has just gotten free points for those games in the past. It's always been a Tuesday deadline for the Semi's.

  14. I am a little geographically challenged, can you all fill me in in what the separation of your district is?

We have 13 teams in our district. (14 during boys season) Coaches made the decision that instead of using 12 of their allotted 16 games for district competitions, we would split into two divisions, East and West, essentially split by Interstate 24. When tournament time comes around, we cross-bracket. Best team in the east plays the worst team in the west and so on.

East: East Robertson, Greenbrier, Macon County, Merrol Hyde, White House, White House-Heritage, Westmoreland (Boys only)

West: Cheatham County, Clarksville Academy, Creek Wood, Harpeth, Montgomery Central, Sycamore, Waverly

Unless they remap the district lines, don't foresee any changes coming in November. But have heard thru the rumor mill that Stewart County, Jo Byrns, and McEwen all have interest in teams. This could potentially give us 17 teams. Heaven forbid.

  15. WH 5

    Clarksville Academy 0

WH hosts Hume Fogg Tuesday.and CA travels to CPA..

Can I just say something right here? Well I am anyway...

I think it is a crying shame that the voters for district awards (I assume coaches) use that platform to try to get a measure of revenge on a successful program.

Let's set the table here for a second. In district play over the last 4 years WH is 35-1-1 in district 10 A/AA matches with a combined score of 213 to 15. They have won 25 consecutive district matches and have allowed 2 goals in 2 years and none this year. I do understand that WH cannot win every district award, but seriously, no defensive player of the year, and only 1 GK of the year in four years.... Come on man....

It is a travesty to take out your frustrations on teenage girls. I hope you can sleep well at night.

Please understand, I am taking nothing away from the girls who won awards tonight. I am sure they have put a lot of effort into getting where they are and I commend them for it.

Okay I am done let me have it if you think I am wrong.

Stepping down from my position this year so as a (former) voting member the past seven years, let me see if I can tackle this issue. Being in two divisions, I have never been involved in the discussions for the East. We base the awards simply on the divisional games, and I think that is a factor as explained below.

First, I have faith in my fellow coaches that they aren't basing their decisions on spite and jealousy. I think White House has an interesting dilemma being in District 10. As your stats confirm, they are heads and shoulders above the rest of the teams in regards to overall talent. Because they are so balanced and skilled as a team, I don't believe their individual players stand out. There's no doubt that they could pose an argument for every individual award, but I believe it's even more respectable that they don't have one outstanding overall offensive or defensive talent. Thus, when it comes to the awards, I believe we choose to recognize an outstanding season performance for one individual. I would think that Coach Felzien and the girls recognize this as well and are more than happy to lift that Championship plaque together in the end.

In regards to your goalie, we ran into the same dilemma 6 years ago. 13 shutouts and 2 goals against the entire season. Senior goalie who had already previously won Best Keeper. She didn't get worse, just had a really good team in front of her. Didn't get a lot of shots or chances to show how good she was. That year we recognized a girl who was really essential in keeping her team competitive, maybe not the best keeper but she deserved it.

Your arguments are valid, however there is a lot more that goes into the decisions we make. White House is a tremendous team and I don't see them being challenged any time soon. I'm proud to have them in our district because they represent us so well on a state level.
