  1. Heard again last night - I'm really gonna like the hire. I can't wait. Pete Rose is gonna be the new coach at Murvil high!

If I heard correctly, the deal is done... I can only guess that they are waiting for the candidate to inform his school and players before making the announcement...or for GQ to get back in town.  Maybe Monday?  If what I heard is true, sounds like we're getting a good one!

  2.

One of the greatest games I ever seen. The Rebels never gave up. Plenty of fight in those Rebels. On offense the man was Joel Hopkins. Hopkins ran like a wild man. He was offensive MVP in my book.

TD Blackman was great on defense but the man of the game was Ritchie Koons. By Ritchie being in the game he clogged up the middle. Wasn't much running up the middle. Ritchie was playing on guts and determination.

I just continue to be amazed with this run Maryville is on. At the end of the 1st quarter I was just hoping to see Maryville keep it close. Most amazing comeback ever. This will be a game talked about 30 years from now.

Ravenwood was by far the best team Maryville played this year. Their skill position talent was second to none. BaylorBigDog and Notre Dame66 hit the nail on the head with their analysis on Ravenwood.

Another thing is my nephew was telling his dad that Coach Hester put in a lot of new plays for the Maryville game. He said Coach Hester has a great offensive mind. I look for Ravenwood to be really good for awhile.

Couldn't have said it better RR.  I thought TD (living legend!) and Richie (wounded warrior!) stood out the most, as well as Joel "feed the dawg / Crazy Legs" Hopkins!  I love watching him fight for extra yards, he just has to hold on to that ball a little tighter when he does so.  I thought we were pretty effective on offense when we had Tyler, Dylan and Joel in the backfield pounding the rock.  Ravenwood should keep their heads held high, they played outstanding and were a class act.  Same for their fans, loud and proud!  Congrats to the Rebels, this was one for the ages!

I really enjoyed sitting amongst the Mafia as well.  Although, I was a little disappointed that I didn't hear too much out of Stars, at least I couldn't hear him from where I was perched.  Usually you can hear him from two blocks away.  B)STARZ WAS TOO BUSY SWEATING BRICKS AND PRAYING THAT HIS CODE DIDN'T GET CRACKED SO HE WON'T HAVE TO HEAR FROM PA..

Yeah...I'm SURE that was it!!

i appreciated gettin the "Wholeheartedly" bracelets from the cheerleaders with Joshua 14:6-15 on it!!! bracelets are half red half black!! glad got enuff for my crew!

Thanks RW for saving me a seat and letting me use a blanket!!! The bars were good too!!!

hope u all have a Blessed holiday season!!

Hey Spanky - I just realized that I sat next to you last night!  I had not met you previously, so I didn't make the connection.  I am not originally from Maryville and just moved here 4 1/2 years ago, so I'm still figuring out who everyone is.  Good to sit with you and a big contingent of the Mafia - Stars, Red Rebels, StrongX, RW, MHS82, Rebels5Star, Mr. 200, others.  Guess GQ finally listened to what you were saying...Tyler went around the left side for that final score in OT!
  5. Mountain, that could be huge for Maryville! They keep the passes short and love to run the read option. Ravenwood should be fondant formidable opponent but if the wind plays a factor it could really hurt them.

No doubt...wind can play as big a factor as rain. Could definitely be a positive for MHS. The Rebels are starting to arrive in CookeVegas!

  6. Congrats to CPA on a well-deserved victory. Hockaday and company were not to be denied again. Congrats to Alcoa on bringing home the silver...I know it's not what you wanted, but you should still be proud. Was a little disappointed to see Rankin throw some kids under the bus in the post-game interview...especially hard on one of the players who got the holding penalty (kid was sitting right behind coach while he was making those comments). I know coach was not happy and was frustrated, but he just needs to take the blame and not publicly fault the kids. Just my take... Again, congratulations to CPA, very impressed.

  7. Slow down alittle rw. It's a long time til game time, don't want you to run out of energy. Well the ol weather map looks bad for the travel down. Guess I will swing by rebulldawg's house later and watch the game with him on the tube. My hair gets frizzy in this kind of weather. Safe travels and good luck to the rebels not that they will need it. I'll stick with my usual prediction and say running clock in third quarter.

CReb - Looks like I may leave you hanging...me and the crew already have our tickets and will be making the trip down I-40 for the big game. I'll leave the light on and you guys can make yourselves at home! Was sure glad to be in the dry last night while watching West roll over Hillsboro. The dynamic duo for West were exciting to watch. Fast and Tough! Hate that Alcoa couldn't bring home the gold yesterday, but CPA earned it. Hockaday and crew were not going to be denied. I'd like to see some of the Fulton game this afternoon, but I may be picking Food (Crawdaddy's) over the Falcons! As for our Rebels, we'll have our hands full tonight. However, I like our chances...especially with the defense we have and an offense that has found it's rhythm after a bumpy first half of the season. With so many kids stepping up, you never know who will shine tonight. TD, Vaught and Tillery shined last week...along with the usual suspects...Jackson, Miller, Burgess, Brock, Young, Shinsky, Orren...too many to name without leaving someone out. Can we stop Ravenwood's WR stud - Jefferson? ...sounds like he is due for a big game after being bottled up the last 2 games. Looks like their "second option" at WR has almost as many yards as Brock for us. We were able to do it against Hendersonville's stud last year, but this year we'll have 2 good ones to stop. Our secondary will be tested. Looks like their QB is a dual-threat...can we keep him contained? Also looks like they have good RB in Rowland. Sounds like a balanced team to me...something we haven't seen a tremendous amount of this year (of course, some of that is US making teams one-dimensional). IF the forecast holds, doesn't look like the weather should be a significant factor. I'm hoping that if our defense steps it up one more time and we win the turnover game, the offense and special teams will do what it takes to bring home the gold. Looking forward to an exciting night in Cookevegas!!

  8. Reality check Barn...not all folks are on your level!  I'm especially prone to absences if RW87 is not bringing touchdown cookies or brownies that night, MHS82 has run out of BlowPops, Mr. 200 has gone fishin and is not there to help lead the "woo", Rebels5Star and the PaintMan want to go out to eat, my daughter is hanging out with Red Rebels' daughter...etc., etc.  Yes, I'll admit that this year has been different for me.  My son has given up the pigskin after too many broken bones and a body obviously built for academics, not athletics (well, maybe a little baseball).  However, I did get to spend a week at the beach with him that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to do.  And yes, I did miss 2 games because of it.  Yes, another game was missed because I was out of town on business.  And, I'm sure there was one in there where my wife wanted to go eat or shop, or I simply didn't feel like going.  Will it happen again next year?  Probably.  Will I still buy my 4 season tickets next year?  Definitely.  Will I be the only one who sits in them while my kids are in the student section and my wife gets the house ready for 20+ teenagers to come over after almost every home game?  No doubt.  Do I love the Rebels (and fans like you)?  Absolutely!!

  9. My Brother in law from Maryville just got in and told me there are a lot of rumblings of how they are going to embarrass us Friday night, now I am getting scared, think we might need to sit this one out!!!!

Ha, ha...I don't think so. These boys are focused and know Blackman is as well. Ain't no trash-talking coming from the Maryville camp...it's all business. If there is talk, it's from overly excited fans, not our boys. This should be a battle!

  10. I am sure you guys are great guys look forward to a great night of fanfare and football

Overall, it is a great group FBG19. Many of us actually sit in the same section for games and even get together every now and then for lunch. Just a bunch of old has-beens who love Maryville football!

  11. Because I'm confident and feeling My oats! Sevier County by the way has nothing for Maryville.

Are you serious? This thread is NOT about Maryville...so why make that statement here?

Looking forward to watching the replay of Oakland-Blackman game online this weekend, I'm sure it will be a battle.

  12. Even if the players are at practice, this doesn't mean for sure that they will play on Friday. So there is no way to tell until 7:00 tomorrow night.

Bingo AR. And for the record to all interested parties, the report I was given had All players present and/or accounted for at practice today.
