  1. According to the rules, the assistant referee's position should be directly opposite of the head referee, which is 180 degrees. If the assistant referee was in the correct position to call a pin from a spladle, 90 degree angle from the splader, then the head referee was also in correct position...opposite of the assistant and also 90 degrees from the splader. Both referees were on the mat opposite of each other, both 90 degrees from the spadler, so that each of them had a view to each side of the bottom wrestler (vantage point: 20 inches away). Spladles often leave the shoulders of the bottom wrestler on top of his own abdomen instead of on the mat. Near fall was counted and awarded.

Everyone always has different opinions of what they see in a wrestling match but by now we should all know that no matter what call is made, someone will argue it. Its useless to make excuses and complain about not getting the call you want in wrestling because it happens every weekend at every level in the sport, at least in someone's perspective.

With that being said, it was a great match between two experienced wrestlers and I'm sure all of us would have liked to seen the match in its entirety without an injury stoppage. We wish Mr. Matlock the best in his recovery.

Near fall WAS NOT awarded. Either way, Get well Keagan!!!! And I didn't mean to offend anyone either. It was a good match. Both did great. West kept wrestling well after the call & didn't lose composure which counts for a whole lot sometimes. If I offended anyone it was directed at the official. No you can't see everything all the time, but.... thats all under another topic... and there are some good officials out there, too.
  2. I know I'm a little late posting this but I was over watching soddy and central(on mat 2 where as heritage and Cleveland were all the way over on mat 1)and looked over and if I was able to tell that west was pinned then I see no reason that the ref couldn't.

I was on the floor as well he was pinned there was no space under the shoulders or kids whole back for that matter. Ref was way out of position and the 2nd ref apparently was watching the same mat. They had started counting back points (while standing) but he wasn't even awarded those.
  3. I'll leave him on the list until that is confirmed. Any idea when brackets will be posted? Apparently, some of the other regions have already posted their tournament information on Track Wrestling.

    Regions 1 2 5 6 8 are posted, still missing 3 4 7.

When they are posted could you send a link?
  4. Will somebody PLease answer this Question!!!!!!!!!!! Is there any TNAAU wrestling tournaments this weekend??????? February 2nd?????

I think there is one at Knox Halls tomorrow (changed to Sunday because of the weather). You will probably find better answers under a different subject!!!!!
  5. I would have liked to have seen that match between Maryville and Heritage, both have a good team this season,I don't think anyone in Blount Co.is going to beat Matlock.Matlock is a senior and plans to go in the marines,he told me his dad was a marine,so I guess he wants to be like his dad.I think he will do his best to be the best..A kid from William Blount in the 170 wt class is one to watch next year.

    Simmerly?

  6. Last year's Heritage Ga team may have been tough for youins but probably not this year it appears. Any common opponents?

Did your boys go through the Pilate program?

We wrestled them last year at the Smoky Mountain duels in Pigeon Forge. Heritage GA won we had 4 or 5 forfeits and some really good matches and of course some not so good. Would like to see it this year. Heritage TN has come a long way. Half of this team has wrestled varsity since they were freshman and have come up through the great feeder program that was started up here a few years back. When they got to high school there just weren't that many wrestlers... Wrestling has definitely, picked up a lot everywhere in the past few years it seems (other than the schools who have always been known for it like Bradley Cleveland... oops sorry...Bradley and Cleveland and a few others.) I think its great that the sport is picking up. And not just Heritage TN, but its great to see other "not as well known for wrestling" schools beginning to advance.
  7. Right on the school own website it states Maryville Tn. Too funny

Right on Bradley's website it says Cleveland, TN!!! the point is "Maryville" is a school and a rival of Heritage. Why don't we just call that other Heritage team - CATOOSA HERITAGE then there's no confusion (and they are out of state-ers anyway! HAHAHA
  8. I think bradley08 is correct. yes there are some valid injuries and sicknesses. And after the summer (for ones who don't wrestle the off season) and ones that play football many times have the weight issues till Christmas it seems. But unfortunately, I do think some do try to "protect records" or don't give everything they have or don't even wrestle at times for some lame reason or another. For the tourneys happening yesterday I believe the ACT was a factor for many also. Which is aggravating but what can you do when you wrestle most Saturdays? My hats off to those that wrestle through it all (when physically possible). Those who push through injuries & feeling bad. They have 100% heart and thats what you have to have in this sport. You don't get better if you don't wrestle better people. So the ones who are record watching and things like that are liable to get left behind in the end.
