  1. Coach Tucker is from McMinn, starting at Calhoun just as Coach Bob and Baker did. Throw in there PeeWee Bivens, Danny Green, and a few others. J. Morgan and R.Webb did their student teaching there also. Not a bad roster of "McMinn coaches."
  2. The AAU website and the opening selection bars here on Coacht always have good information. Peanut Cummings, the director of substate tourneys can give you good info too. This will be the first time in 10 years that I will be on the sidelines with no AAU events. Time moves on too quickly. It has been great.
  3. Schedules are made during the fall by the A.D. or coach, so I am not so sure about that. I figured it was just because Coach Lee of Lenoir City called and asked Tucker to come up and join them. Coach Lee is one of the most respected coaches and nice guys to be in the professional ranks. I have never met anyone that does not like and praise him. It would be hard to tell him no even if you knew it was going to be primarily an AA tourney and your draw would not be particularly strong.
  4. momof cami You are definitely doing the right thing. I am glad she is with the girls again.
  5. McCaslin missed the last game of the Christmas tournament, but her younger sister was there and played (Simbeck). She was with the team today.
  6. Several fans in the stands from several schools had that attitude! But they did have real good popcorn!!
  7. Many McMinn Central parents attended only one game a day instead of paying admission twice to watch girls and boys. This policy of clearing the gym after girls games before boys play was not tournament friendly. This tourney was not run like the state tourney in Murfreesboro. What they hoped to gain in double admissions they merely lost from our parents in concession stands sales.
  8. What happened to the young lady from Daniel Boone? I did not see any falls in the game today. She did an excellent job today.
  9. I have better hair then Einstein. If you are the author, hats off to you. I like it.
  10. Hey, Spelling Bee champ!! Did you author the quote that is your tagline? If not, you need quotation marks.
  11. I agree with cami's mom. You play the best five, not give a "start" to someone to boost their esteem to make them feel a part of the team for tourney time. What are you doing to the confidence of the one who suddenly is not starting? Don't you need their confidence for tourney time? Coach Morgan knows what he is doing.
  12. Freshmen only. Walker Valley and Central do not play each other this year in varsity ball.
  13. Very good description MCHSballfan. I would have to agree. If the girls do not let down their guard with Boyd Buchanan and Sequoyah coming up, and get ready for an always tough game at Meigs, the blue and white could very well be 6-0 in the district going into Christmas break. With only 2 senior starters and only 3 in the top ten, this team will improve as the season progresses. Coach Morgan has coached for years with many impressive wins. He was recognized a couple of years ago for his many wins so the number should not be too hard to figure out. Coach Davis of Polk has been around for a long time also with quite a few wins.
  14. Looking at district games and standings after about 4 or 5 games each it appears 5 teams with 0 or 1 loss. Scores have not been posted for Brainerd vs. Polk and Brainerd vs. Meigs. Does anyone know those results and anything about Brainerd? Central played them for the few minutes of Jamboree but that is only an isolated snapshot of what a team can do.
  15. How did Meigs do last night against Brainerd? It has not been posted yet. What is Brainerd girls record and how do they look?
  16. Kiley Lambert of McMinn Central starts as a freshman and was lead scorer Tuesday night against AAA McMinn County with 21 points. Chelsea Simbeck is seeing playing time every game as back up post and looking stronger. 2 freshmen to keep eye on in Southeast Tennesee.
  17. Be careful now. The last time you got to the state you did not come home with a banner either and the team leader was a girl that showed up suddenly her senior year from Sweetwater. So that kind of kills your arguement about it is stupid to drive to the school of your choice. You seem to be downing some girls for doing it while going to Central, but bragging when McMinn did it and got to the state.
  18. Which Chargers are you talking about? McMinn Central?
  19. District 5AAA coaches picked McMinn girls to finish 2nd this year in the district behind Cumberland County. That has to be a boost for the McMinn five.
  20. If they are picked fourth preseasonally, who is the third team. I read (on here only) that Bradley and Cleveland will be the top two. Who is third if McMinn is fourth? Cumberland, W.Valley or Rhea?
  21. McMinn starting five did well tonite against Walker Valley. They played less players of course then Tucker and Butler did not stay on the floor long. Looked less impressive at start of scrimmage with Loudon, but did not see the end.
  22. Well said MCHS. Morgan will play the top five and if he feels the top five are not giving their best, he will pull them immediatley to give them time to think about it and play one with lesser talent that is giving their all. That happened several times last year and no doubt will happen again. You remember those games! You state the freshman are pushing the starters, the starters better help keep pushing the freshman also because the transition to varsity ball is difficult and not easily attained. Most of the freshmen are still seeing that just as the starters saw it when they first began wearing the blue and white. I am proud of the way all the girls are hustling and working together on the court. On the floor there is not a freshmen group or returning starters any more, they are the team that want to win games and go more places. The competitive practices are good. Tension may be a word more applicable to some parents, but that too shall pass as the games begin. And as far as "need" for the freshmen, I think you will see a need for four just about every game playing some role, whether starter as Kiley or much needed rest as Morgan has already stated this team is much faster than last year's and the tempo will pick up accordingly. You play and press hard, then catch a breather while someone else is doing the same. 8 girls will be able to go full speed on the court and Central will march on. A couple more improving can help go 10 deep. I too thought W.Valley scrimmages looked better except first game against Chattanooga Christian, not sure where any of the girls were against them. Jamboree was good for filling in blanks with Brainerd. Now let's watch Tyner and Tellico Thursday night and see a better picture for District competition. Next week the real dance begins!!!
  23. Someone needs to start pushing their potential players to try out for the McMinn Fire or McMinn Lakers or some other extra groups on McMinn's side of the county. The only consistent hope for McMinn is AJHS and they lost the Starr girl last year to McMinn Central and the Buckley the year before to Walker Valley. With that said, McMinn has two strong years in front of them. Nila, Leah, Amy Jo, Dereka (?) are very strong and should carry them far this year and even farther next year (Murfreesboro). But the starters better stay healthy and help grow their younger players quickly.
