I say let the young man play at BHS. If he can learn the system and take someones spot that has been practicing with the team for 3 or 4 weeks then he deserves it.

here is an interesting item to ponder, a young lady who played at OHS last season thru the IB Program and lives within a mile of Smyrna High, decided to transfer to Smyrna and is not being allowed to play because her family did not make a physical address change. Yet Davenport played at Siegel last season transfers to RHS because her dad bought a house in the RHS zone and plays this season with NO PENALTY!

Does anyone know if the crew from memphis that so kindly admitted they may have made a mistake in the FHS/SHS overtime were allowed to work week 2 ? Bet the overtime rules were covered if they did.

I would think Blackman. They do have quite a few of your former Stewarts Creek Middle players on the team.

Not really a fan of RHS or BHS being a Bulldog fan, Stewarts Creek kids or not. Also one thing to consider is which of the two of them could beat Maryville in the semi final.

OK, It's close enough to game day and it's time to make our picks. My best guess on this game is Blackman wins this one in overtime... 42 - 35

if it goes to OT I hope this game doesn't draw the Crew from Memphis that did the SHS / FHS game last week. The fans could be waiting til midnight for them to figure out the OT rules. Not sure who to pull for in this one just yet. I know it will be a GREAT game.

About the game, I hate it but, I see Siegel dropping this one in overtime. I think it'll be a really close game. But after the silly play called at the end of the Smyrna game on TV where the coaches talked about going for two with a camera in the huddle (That might not be a good idea in a world of cell phones and texting.) It's also not fair to the players who have played so well for the whole game for the coach to try and win it on a trick play. The idea of puting in a player who hasn't made a snap in the whole game, jumping in with the whole game riding on his snap might be a bad idea. (The snap was to go to the place holder and went over the kickers head)

I've saw a lot of calls this season. Some have been very good, but that one comes to mind as the worst one I saw this year by any team.

 

With that said, Good luck to the Stars! Do district 7AAA proud.

BlueRaider I agree with you on this one. I was completely surprised by Siegel going for two in that situation, it cost them 2nd place in the district and a home game in the playoffs. But I have heard that Coach W may have made the decision to finish the game based on the fact that a Siegel student had been killed in an auto crash and the info had already leaked to the sideline.

Not sure if thats true or not but I think the Stars will make the most of their oppurtunity to knock off the # 1 Seed and move on to the next round. I'll be at this one on Friday want to see this MJ team in person sounds like they are pretty good

Question: Does your mommy know that you found her laptop and are using without her permission even though you are five years old? Did you enjoy smyrna's purple and yellow flop in the playoffs? Did you avoid the question in another thread a few weeks ago about why smyrna put their new scoreboard way up high on big posts this time which no other schools do?

You are correct Smyrna lost in the first round. Not sure that qualifies as a flop, but with you being a LaVergne fan I guess thats what you think since they made the playoffs once, maybe twice (I think). Not sure where a double overtime loss is a flop. But you are entitled to your opinion, seeing as how your a defender of all the wrong doing that vandalism / graffiti causes

Siegel 28 - Mt Juliet 24

will there be graffiti or vandalism of stadiums between these to teams? Is why your posting on this thread?

I was at the game last night and saw the Mt. J team up close, so actually I know exactly what I an talking about. I can't recall a large classification state champ with a D-line that small. They are quick and athletic but not very big or physically imposing. After last night, I would call the upcoming game Siegel at Mt. J a pick-em....if the game was at Siegel, I would give Siegel a slight edge.

 

I will go on record with a prediction of Siegel 28 - Mt Juliet 24....and for the record I don't live in Murfreesboro or have any connection to Siegel. That's as realistic of a prediction as I can make having seen both teams in person.

Question Did you see any vandalism at MJ stadium or were you just drawn to see a good high school game?

Do they charge superhero's to get in the games? the thing that upsets me is I was in Wilson County on Friday night and I didn't see your batman light thingy in the sky must have been the cloud cover.

The FHS qb passed the ball pretty well when Smyrna played them the first game I thought. they just couldn't stop the fumbles.

If me saying that Rutherford Co. can take past years gold balls and shove em gives you "bulletin board material" so be it. Previous years championships has no meaning for the outcome of this game.

So in your opinion experience has nothing to do with playing well and winning? I am really confused now. In my opinion tradition and experience tends to help continue the winning process.

Do you have some chip on your shoulder about living in Williamson County and not Rutherford where there are at least 8 State Championships and thats just in football.

This is not my team thats playing MJ. My "Team" is playing Franklin, in case you haven't seen the pairings. Call it what you will Motivation, desperation, constapation. MJ's ride to the Gold Ball is not going to be a easy as they think or the posters on here think. Tough quad to be in and still have to play Quad 4 in the semi's.

I'm really excited to see how we come out and play this week. Especially after the second half of last weeks game where we came out and controlled the last three quarters of the second half. I thought without the toe we had lost our edge. Seemed like people we're looking for someone to make a play instead of looking at themselves. Now with the toe back in the game maybe we can get back to the level we were at when we slobber knocked Signal Mountian, Bradley Central, Oakland and Smyrner back to back to back to back. Let's go yall, cause that's how we do it!

Really?? slobberknocked Smyrna?? your blaze won in OT because the Bulldog kicker missed a PAT and yours didn't. Slobberknocked? I saw a hard fought very physical game the night BHS and SHS strapped it up, but I believe your having those flashbacks again, take your meds. Blackman wins this one and advances!! Strickland won't even be a factor in this one, the TOE will do all the work.

But I think you might be mistaken, the Junior and Seniors on this Smyrna team played for the Gold Ball last year, had to bring home the silver. They may not have won squat but they got close to squat. And as far as shoving the Gold and/or Silver Balls, that might LEAVE A MARK!

This thing is set up for MJ to meet either Maryville or Riverdale in Cookeville, it will be a major fail if MJ does not hold up their end of the deal and advance to the Gold Ball game.

Go ahead and have those MAJOR FAIL bumper stickers made up, so you don't have to wait on the printer to make them up and you can start selling them right after the game when MJ loses. They may be the #1 seed but ya gotta get thru some REALLY good teams in this quad AND go to Memphis and possibly play Whitehaven.

the only way mt. juliet loses this game is if they don't even take the field! oakland shouldn't even waste the trip!! MJ's offense is loaded but everyone already knows that. what people don't know is about their defense. they give up an average of 12.7 pts per game but that number is misleading. mj is usually up by 30 or more early in the second half and their backups come in. i'm willing to bet more than half of the points they have allowed have come from their second string being in the game. this game will not even be close by halftime. mj's defense will blow up oakland's so called ground and pound waste the clock run game and get the ball to their high powered can't be stopped offense. mj will walk through the "big bad 7-AAA" all the way to the title game!! MJ ALL THE WAY!!!
