Back and Forth Back and Forth, this could go on all week. Smyrna has so much more fight left in them, FHS fans don't realize what the Bulldogs have fought thru this season.

4 Overtime games out of 10. 2-2 record out of that. And 4 losses by a total of 13 points. With EVERYONE writing them off. You can bet it will be a Hard hitting affair.

The only ranking of any kind this season was before Week 0, and its been uphill every since.

Smyrna will be well prepared, and hopefully hyped more than last week against Siegel.

There IS the potential for a BUNCH of payback games in this playoff season.

 

The one thing I will say is that two Rutherford County teams will NOT be allowed to play for the State Championship.

It could happen

they have a RHS Maryville Semi-final game lined up for the east

and pretty good chance one of the 37 AAA teams in quad 3 could make it to that semi-final

Great Game played by both teams. Siegel is to be congratulated on the game, they gave Smyrna fits all night. Hate that they went for two and lost 2nd place in the district. Home game next Friday would have been nice for them. Bulldogs seemed flat last night, it showed on both sides of the ball. Really hope they can win without the OT games, it wears you out as a fan.

Its time to PONY up. One day to thursday night lights. Hope the wet weather does not become a factor in this one. Would hate to see Murphy Fair on the sidelines getting soaked.

Time for the prediction SHS 27 SHS 17 With the REAL and ORIGINAL SHS (Smyrna) being the WINNER

A Smyrna win does not guarantee Blackman 2nd place. BHS must beat LHS with a Smyrna win over Siegel to finish 2nd. And the Bulldogs finish 3rd with head to head wins over OHS and Siegel (when this happens Thursday)

Lets look into the crystal ball. RHS is in 1st place. 4 teams tied at 2-2 for 2nd. RHS beats OHS, Smyrna beats Siegel and LHS bests BHS. Then its all jumbled up, Smyrna would finish 2nd with a 3-2 district record. BHS (2-3) , Siegel (2-3) , and the Pats (2-3) with all going to the playoffs.

Its a BIG mess in the TOUGHEST DISTRICT IN THE STATE. How many others could have 5 teams in the playoffs?

This is one of most difficult things I have ever said in my life, but I am pulling for the Warriors to win this one, and ONLY because it helps my Bulldogs to possibly get a higher seed in the ployoffs with a win over the Stars. So enjoy this statement only once Limbaugh and Riverdale Man as it may never be said again.

Why is it that no matter how good Smyrna plays or is, someone has to drag them down with comments that try to make SHS look bad? The Bulldogs have overcome close losses this season to put themselves back into the playoff picture yet all IronButt wants to say is that SHS players are dirty. Give the boys some credit when its due people, Smyrna wins this one on Thursday to finish tied for second in the district standings and takes the 3rd spot by virtue of the tie breaker with Blackman.

If a pair of 250 pound varsity tackles assault a 130 pound 9th grade wide-out in the locker room after weight program in the springtime - does he (A) kick them off the team, or {B} on the contrary, they are both on the fall roster and one becomes a starter.

 

Which would you think might happen in this "changing of the culture" situation?

Bulldogs are having a good week of practice. Staying focused and I believe they will be READY

As an Oak Ridge fan, i have often wondered what the heck happened to Ravenwood after 2005? How can a team win a state title and just be so irrelevant all of the sudden? Weird.

Head Coach Rector left to go to the college level as a GA, and I believe he is back in Williamson County at Centennial. The team I saw against Oakland struggled offensively a few weeks ago. The Bulldogs will need to keep a level head and stay focused on the task at hand, winning out and making the playoffs.

This is a matchup of district 7-AAA champion against the likely 6-AAA champion.

 

Riverdale should go in as the favorite but needs to shore up some serious defensive issues and win to keep their playoff seeding intact.

 

What kind of team should we expect when Cookeville comes to town.

Mt Juliet put up 54 last Friday against Cookeville. The Warriors should have no problems in this one. Get the starters out early and rest em for the OHS game week 10.

Blackman at Brentwood

Who wins? Does the I-Train play? Anybody with info, spit it out.

Smyrna beat Brentwood, Blackman beat Smyrna so thus Blackman whips Brentwood right?

Brentwood is a good team. Still have the big fullback that is a load to bring down. If Mathers doesn't play could be a tough night for BHS. Brentwoods QB has a nice arm, and the wing offense is always tough. I think Blackman wins this one as much as I hate to say it.

When I went to Smyrna it had TWO Coaches for the football team period. One of them was 'Coach' Raikes. You might have known him as the Principal at Smyrna.

 

When my son was playing at R'dale, they had a staff bigger than most of the small colleges in Tn! Eleven varsity and six for the freshman team.

LOD I agree with you on Coach Robbins, he is one of the best around. But I think the RHS corners made the BHS QB look like Joe Montana, I don't think it was his ability that put all the passing yds up Thursday night. Heard that the corners were not the regular starters. I was glad to see he didn't hit any of the RHS cheerleaders on the pass that resulted in the grounding penalty. If BHS has to rely on the QB to carry them thru the playoffs it will be a short run at best.

Can the Raptors kill the Bulldogs playoff hopes?

They might based on Siegel's struggle vs. LHS. Does this mean a Smyrna at Mt. Juliet 1st round playoff game? Could be interesting. I like how Smyrna put the scoreboard up high in the air at their place to keep their vandals from trashing it again.

 

Could this also mean several Rutherford/Williamson playoff first round games...maybe Oakland at Indy? Brentwood at Riverdale or Blackman?

 

I any case, OHS can't play like that in playoffs or it will be a quick exit. Memphis Arlington who they beat won at least 8 in a row after that, so it's not like OHS can't play when they show up focused and poised which the other night was not the case.

The Caped Vandalism Crusader strikes again. Glad to know your looking out for SHS and vandalism. The scoreboard does look nice in the higher position. Funny thing is I didn't see your Batman type light shining any where over Robert L Raikes stadium on Friday night. Why is it you can never post without bringing up vandalism. Put on your big boy pants and move on to something else. The horse is dead quit beating it.

Last season during the playoffs Smyrna High School played at Whitehaven in the semi-finals. The police had the street behind the vistors side of the field shut down and only allowed one car to drive down the street at a time. When the game was over there were security guards creating a walk path to our buses, we were told to get on the buses right away and leave. Our boosters and parents typically have food and drinks for the players post game, they were told to wait and stop on the interstate to feed the players. The players had to stop at a rest area to change out of their uniforms. It was very intimidating to have to watch a game in these conditions. Nothing happened during the game like gunshots, but it sure made you wonder what would happen.

I agree dablueraider where did this post come from, Mr. Raby a.k.a. mr donkey swore at the end of last season, when SHS beat BHS in the playoffs he would never post on this site again. I guess he heard of my mentioning him in my shag post the week of the SHS/BHS and his ego forced to respond. And where is shag anyway? Haven't seen anything from him this week.

PBD warrior82 has always had a bit of an edge to him. don't hold it against him.

Me, I am just glad this game is on television, I would love to see it live, but its going to be packed and I really don't want to fight the traffic.

with all due respect back at ya OP...i know what i saw...oakland does not have the horses that smyrna has...yall sure may beat em...but i'll be shocked if you do....and i did not even come close to using the x,y,z thing...just comparing two teams i saw up close...one was dominated...one we barely got out alive!

I see alot of things happening in this crazy district but OHS beating RHS, I just don't see it.

I am still curious as to where the Hornsby post is at, its two days from kickoff and we still haven't been informed of the vast yards the OHS tailbacks will get against the SHS defense.

2P thanks for giving our Bulldogs a little credit. SHS will no doubt have to fight for their lives on Friday night. OHS is a good young team, not sure that the passing the QB did Friday night can beat the Bulldogs, Ravenwood did not have much of a secondary. They were clearly the dominent team this past Friday. Should be a barn burner on Friday night at Robert L Raikes Stadium.

I hear Smyrna lost AGAIN..that they are under .500 and will miss the playoffs this year and many years to come.

Were you one of the 139 or so fans in the stands at kickoff for the RHS LHS game. probably not, I heard some street signs got vandalized some where in the county, you were probably responding to that.If you just had that big light shining in the sky we might be able to help you stamp out vandalism in our life time.

Riverdale big in this one. LHS is not the only school that will be getting used to missing the playoffs. Smyrna is no lock to make it this year and in the next few years will go steadily downhill in football. Smyrna Middle went several years without a single win and the impending opening of Stew Creek High will take a chunk of their zone. The four Murf. schools will dominate the 2(and then 3) northern county schools for years after that. Write it down.

NR no vandalism report for this thread? I think I remember the chief win em all statue being painted or broken sometime recently. Shouldn't you give a detailed description on this thread as I don't believe anyone was ever brought to justice over it.

my insider at OHS says that are back to the old Hotdogs that are so famous. Never tried one but he says they are the best around
