  1. Then his decision should be compelled. And it should be to give it up. I completely agree he is a good family man. I'm sure he is a good Christian and a Great Teacher. But he is not now and in my opinion never will be a competent coach. And he does a disservice to the girls with ability that come through there. His team last year had about as much experience, depth and some degree of talent as any other team in the district. The problem and the constant was Coaching. Watching his teams play against well coached teams like Mt. Juliet, Smyrna, Lebanon, Lavergne, Wilson Central, Beech and others, the difference was painfully evident to anyone with even a cursory knowledge of basketball. Beginning with the disastrous loss to Wilson Central at the beginning of the year which was dead square on a Coaching loss. The problem with getting good players is that if a child has potential, the parents understand it is a player's graveyard under his tutelage and they will do whatever they can if possible to get their child into another program. I'm sorry, and I don't mean to be overly harsh. But the talent has been there. It has just not been developed or encouraged. And that is, again just my opinion, Coaching. These girls deserve better. I say make the change and give the girls a chance. Under this Coach, they will never excel.
  2. Respectfully, I would disagree. There are girls that have excelled on their respective AAU Teams but languish in mediocrity under the inept coaching. The constant in their losing is the Coach. He has no concept of how to motivate these girls to play. He stifles their natural abilities and skills and they end up playing mechanical ball. Again, I respectfully submit it's time to change the Coach. These girls deserve better.
  3. Perhaps this is part of the problem. HHS has lost 7 games by an average margin of 22 points. Throw out 2 close loses to what were really, inferior teams and the average losing margin is almost 29 points over 5 games. So, what does the Coach have to say? "Still, Lady Commandos coach **** said his team played “much better†in almost every facet of the game. “We can be proud of who we were (Friday night),†**** said. “We matched their intensity. We went after loose balls. We tied the ball up. We got tips. Every girl that went in gave us great intensity. “We played about 10 times better tonight than we did against Independence,†**** added, referring to Hendersonville’s 56-53 loss to the Eagles on Dec. 2." So, in his estimation, they played 10 times better in a 21 point loss as opposed to a 3 point loss? Perhaps that defines the problem.
  4. Here's hoping that "transfer" can help supply the little extra it will take to turn some of those close losses last year into wins this year. This team looks good to me. I'm just not sure HOW good. Guard play looks good and defense can be smothering. Inside looks strong. Offense seems to take a break sometimes but the defense has managed to compensate..so far. Looking forward to an exciting season and some very good basketball!! Go Lady Blaze!!
  5. WAY past time for a Coaching change. This Coach is not only lacking in ability, he is hurting the aspirations of those girls that have ability and aspire to play at a higher level, yet find themselves mired in an inept program ruled by a Coach who seems to think his best asset as a coach is screaming at his team from the sidelines. The difference, the poor, inept coaching is painfully obvious when HHS plays well Coached teams such as Mt. Juliet and Wilson Central, among many others. Last year's team was loaded and experienced at every position. Any Parks Coach could have taken those girls and directed them to some degree of success. Yet still, he could not muster a winning effort. The administration should consider what is best for the girls who have dedicated years of sweat, blood and effort into this program, only to suffer humiliating defeat after defeat because of this Coach's ineptitude. You are correct. This team has some talent. They have youth. They have promise. So did the group of girls this coach inherited a few years back. But his "Coaching" destroyed their desire and promise. Girls with ability to play at a higher level found themselves lost in an inept program and either left basketball altogether or were ignored by college observers. I'm certain his intentions are good. But it is time to consider the harm he is doing to the girls that enter this program with hope, skill and aspirations, only to be beaten up by the tyrannical methods and inept coaching effort of this man. For the sake of the girls, compare what he does to what is done by other high school programs and it will quickly become evident that this coach is supremely unqualified. And while he will say he has the best interest of the girls at heart, his results and actions prove otherwise. AND IMPORTANT to you parents who have a child that has the skills to play at the next level, this Coach does absolutely NOTHING to promote your child. Recognize that and seek advice and promotion OUTSIDE the efforts of Hendersonville High and its CURRENT Coaches and staff. Yes. It is time for a change. It's WAY past time.
