2016 PGF ACADEMIC SHOWCASE CAMP- registration now open!

This event was sold out last year and we fully expect another advance sell-out this year as well. With over 20 high-academic institutions and a prospect to coach ratio of less than five to one, it’s no wonder that the event has such a strong turnout. If you desire to play college softball and you do well in the classroom, you really should consider attending this event. With several of the FINEST SCHOOLS IN THE NATION in attendance, few events can offer what the 2016 PGF Academic Showcase Camp will offer.

 

Moreover, the 2016 PGF Academic Showcase Camp is the ONLY ACADEMIC CAMP HELD IN THE SOUTHEAST IN 2016. Other camps of this nature cut through the primary timeframe (June/July) of the travel ball season and are located in difficult to reach locations, forcing you to miss valuable travel tournament experience and pay for expensive travel. The 2016 PGF Academic Showcase Camp is centrally located with over half the nation’s population located within a day’s drive and is held prior to the primary playing season for most travel ball teams.

 

Many of the finest schools in the country will be on hand to staff this event and get a hands-on look at the highly-academic softball talent that participates in it. Colleges from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia have already committed to attend and staff the Camp. Several more schools will also be added in the coming weeks- the coaches are extremely excited about this Camp and many will bring multiple members from their staffs to fully observe and interact with all of the prospects that attend. Registration is well underway now. Last year’s event had prospects registered from Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. LARGEST EVENT IN THE AREA- OVER 200 PROSPECTS ATTENDED IN 2014 & THIS YEAR WILL BE EVEN BIGGER & BETTER!

 

This event has doubled in size each of the last three years. With this tremendous growth has come tremendous interest from the college coaches that desire to attend and staff it. This year, we will offer an unprecedented 4 full-day sessions and cap the number of participants in each session at approximately 100 player prospects. Even with over 200 prospects attending last summer, we still had a huge wait list of girls that wanted to attend. We feel that by offering 4 full sessions and capping the number in each session, we will allow more prospects to attend while maximizing everyone's exposure to the college coaches that will instruct and coach them throughout the daily sessions.

Just wanted to make you all aware of a new Showcase opportunity that begins this fall- The 2014 Mid South September Showcase. The event is a 3 pool single elimination tournament played at beautiful Fly Park in Franklin, TN on September 27-28th. We welcome inquiries from all 18u, 16u and highly qualified 2nd year 14u teams for this event. Other notes of consequence include:

Team Worth '96 will host a tryout on Saturday, August 30th from 1-4pm.

 

Team Worth '96 recently returned from a top ten finish at the PGF Central Championships in Chicago and a top 25 finish at ASA 18u "A" Nationals in Montgomery, AL. Our team has attended ASA "A" Nationals each of the last three years (twice in 16u and this year in 18u). Included in our regular competitive schedule of qualifiers for these national events are also many of the Showcase/Exposure events throughout the region including The Atlanta Legacy, Southern Force Showcase, St Louis Showcase and many more.

 

Our roster just graduated several players- nine of whom will be playing in college in the coming year. We are looking for dedicated and committed athletes who desire to play at the highest levels competitively and who want to grow personally and athletically. Our remaining players will be combining forces with Team Worth '95's remaining roster. Team Worth '95 just completed its second year of 18u travel ball and the majority of its players no longer have 18u eligibility following their recent top ten finish at ASA 18u "A" Nationals. This combination of players- several of which have already committed to play collegiately- will make for an extremely competitive group, but we still have a few remaining spots. Specifically, we are looking for an additional pitcher as well as outfielders and utility infielders with a great bat. Speed is preferred in all candidates and athleticism is a must.

 

From this tryout, we will choose our 2014 fall roster with which we will play Showcase and Exposure related events throughout the region. This 3rd Annual event is designed to provide an environment for all participants to learn from and showcase their skills in front of current College Coaches.

Saturday, August 16th, 2014

10:00AM - 5:00PM

Fly Park- Franklin, TN

 

Event Format:

For rising 8^th through rising 12^th graders with special consideration for exceptional rising 7^th graders

 

·         College coaches and players will instruct and coach players during skills work and games

·         Players will be assigned to a team (each player is assigned individually)

·         All activities are completed with their assigned team

·         Each player will participate in skills work for both offense and defense

·         Each player will compete with their assigned team in at least 2 games

·         All players will select a primary and secondary position

Note: Only primary position pitchers are guaranteed to pitch in games

9:30 am– 10:00 am Registration

10:00 am – 5:00 pm Skills Work/Scrimmage Games

$150 Per Participant In Advance
