  1. As a teacher and girls basketball coach I understand both sides here. Taking ONE day out of school to support your fellow classmates is important, IF you can afford it. As a parent, working an hourly job and trying to provide for a family can be frustrating when it is disrupted by school being shut down across a system for a bball game. A 6 year old needs picked up from kindergarten by someone. Frustrating. As a teacher, we have 180 school days a year to teach young people what they are to know; directed by state standards. How many of those days are disrupted by fire/tornado drills, snow days, assemblies, pep rallies, special class meetings, magazine sales/payoff days, and other interruptions? A basketball game at the first round level is NOT an excuse; although it is nice to sleep in!
  2. You guys talk pretty rough of coach Hall. I may be an outsider, but from what I could tell he is a very nice man who worked hard to coach his team. What could the guy have done so vile that you'd talk like this about him? Record may not be too good but he rallied to get 3 wins and a BIG victory over Gallatin after being beaten earlier in the year. Coach Wilhite is talented. Perhaps she will have better luck with the girls and the picky fans.
  3. Blown call is the truth. The weird part was the horn sounding off twice. The entire gym was hesitant for a split second thinking "is it over? aren't the refs going to wave it off?" And they didn't. Perhaps it was too loud in the gym. The refs hesitated when they could...should have made a move.
  4. At the split second the buzzer went off and THEN the shot was taken and made the referees should've been on top of it and blown the whistle to decline the shot, pushing the game to a third OT. Once they did not, obviously Gallatin thought they had won, duh. Fans stormed the court, players cheered, and WC demanded an explanation. At that point the referees had one choice: run for your life. The call was blown and it was too late to fix it. Emotions were out of control tonight and it is a definite misfortune for a game that we all love to play, watch, and coach, end that way. For fans and players to take it to another level is uncalled for. Let's not get into it on a message board. Games over, hopefully regionals will give another shot.
  5. The most incredible finish to a game I've ever seen happened tonight. This will SURELY be seen by TSSAA and hopefully change how ALL officials are educated (and continually educated we hope) to manage the game.
