Rossview got the W last night at Dickson. Uninspired first half resulted in a 10pt deficit for the Hawks at halftime even with Allen playing in his first game.
Coach Jackson saw it necessary to sub the entire starting five a couple minutes into the 3rd quarter after witnessing the same lax style of play by the starters....and I couldn't agree more with his decision!
The bench provided an awesome spark, drawing fouls, creating turnovers and reminding the starters what some hustle and desire to win can bring. Put the starters back in and they brought the pain. Shared the ball, buckled down on defense, grabbed rebounds....in short showed some teamwork.
Nice job Hawks--fun to watch!

Great contest last night between CHS and RHS. Rossview came out on top 53-47 in overtime, but Clarksville is no slouch they'll do well in district.
-
Well, I know RHS doesn't have the big kid yet but they're gaining some cohesion and look really good at times. I'm with you 13--taking Rossview here

MATCHUP TONIGHT: RHS vs CHS!! Gimme your thoughts kids

I see Rossview handling Portland easily tonight in their 2nd HOF game.
What's the deal with Clarksville getting beaten by Beech and barely escaping Sycamore? A little dent in the armor maybe?

Ted Young
Yea, I didn't mean which coach they have...I meant which impact players do they have?
-
1. Clarksville
2.Rossview
3. Northeast
4. Henry County
5. Springfield
6. northwest
7. Kenwood
8. West Creek
Who does CHS have this year, exactly?
-
I was initially going to put Rossview at #1 because i've heard they've got a couple transfers--a 6'8" kid and a 6'4" one--and their leadership at guard is really good. Would be a great feat if they pulled off the district a year after having come in next to last.

I know it's way early, but how does the district stack up? I hear it'll be very competitive this year.

GB looked weak vs a soft Stratford last night. Bad passing, LOTS of turnovers. Felt like I was watching middle school ball at times.
Over 45 fouls called in a non-aggressive game....hard for either team to get any kind of rhythm with interruptions like that. Anybody else experience similar officiating?
-
I've been quietly observing my cats as of late. Flashes of brilliance via teamwork (ENTIRE first quarter last nite vs Stratford was pretty close to perfect for them for example), then divisiveness late in the game resulting in losses. That's all I'm saying, and good luck tonight vs Clarksville Academy.

The reason the Bobcats got back into the game in the third quarter against Harpeth had very little to do with GB's big guy and more so having Young back into the game after being in foul trouble the entire first half. He started pouring 'em in in the 2nd half and never let up. Big kid is a decent player, but was hardly a difference maker in the game in which he was at least 6" taller than any other player on the floor.
Quote in the Tennessean regarding win vs Harpeth "The Bobcats came out in the second half and immediately hammered the ball inside to Allen who scored 10 of his 11 points in the third period to help Greenbrier outscore the Indians 15-8, gaining its first lead of the game 28-26."
Second quote (same article) from NICK YOUNG himself "Brad did a good job of getting us going on the offensive end in the second half,†said Young. “Because he hit so many shots in the lane in the third, I was able to get some open looks in the fourth quarter."
You said the cats getting back into the game had "very little to do with the big guy?" Yeah I guess you're right Unforgettable....I guess I just don't know what I'm talking about...
-
Yea, the "Cardiac Cats" pulled one out Thursday night. Selfish play early on put the Bobcats down by about eight at halftime. After half they started going to the big kid inside (got 11 straight points in the 3rd) and tied up the game pretty quickly. Then the two teams battled to the end but the 'cats came out with it at the end. But you could tell Harpeth is the type of team that can knock people out quick. Bunch of fundamentally sound players, and a workhorse of a coach.

Well, after five games I see GB playing uninspired. Sure we got the "W" versus Montgomery Central last night, but GB was losing until mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Two surprises thus far though: the 6'8" center is being utilized sparingly, but the bruiser inside (Lynn) is picking up a lot of the slack and earning double-digit points most nights.
I NOW see GB finishing in the bottom third of the district, unless some cohesion occurs. I'll be able to determine more when the cats visit WH this Friday.
Anyone else changing their predictions based on what you've seen?
-
Hahaha....wow, had no idea I would be within TWO POINTS on my prediction Mumblety!! Was a fluke to be certain.
The Cats pulled away early, but within a couple minutes after the start of the game the coach had them in a stall/ spread offense for most of the remainder of the game...which led to many turnovers through some shaky guard play. I guess they don't want to use the big Allen kid (he still had a double-double btw). Heard a lot of grumbling from many of the fans around me, even when we were WINNING, about Mason's reasoning behind the play-calling.
Prime timing for an opportunist like Maddux at CPA to come a-callin, eh??!!

Greenbrier hosts Stratford tonight. I personally think GB will drop their season opener by 10 pts.--young team short on experience.
What are everyone else's matchups and predictions?
-
I haven't read a pre-season review yet on anyone in 9AA (guess that's why I don't subscribe to the Rob. County Times at home!!). Where can I read up on our teams guys?
