  1. with 9 men in the box, nobody can tell me we can't throw a hot pass to tight end or a screen.im not degrading anyone im just saying with 8 and 9 men in the box you got to use your head and at least try to burn them.

It's not as easy as you'd think....in years past when coach Williams at GB had no talent and a vanilla playbook, he would try an easy screen and give up a pick 6 about once a game.  Because even the safeties were only playing 5yds off the line!

  2. 1. Cheatham

    2. Harpeth

    3. Greenbrier

    4. Heritage

    5. Sycamore

    6. White House

    7. Westmoreland

Cheatham class of this district with Saunders, Darden & Harlan leading the way.

Harpeth returns pretty good group led by Anderton.

Greenbrier much improved with Nick Young & some good underclassmen.

Hoops season can't get here soon enough! Good luck to all teams!

We're pretty much in agreement Mumbles....I might go with Sycamore a notch higher than you did.  And I'm excited to see if Brown brings much back to the mix at GB this winter.  I've been watching the Saunders and Harlan clans from Cheatham the past few weeks at unapproved website fall league and they look strong.  I haven't seen anyone else from 9AA this summer except Allen and Young at GB--looks like they're gellin pretty good combining for about 30 pts/game out at CPA.  My HOPE is GB brings it up to at least 2nd place this year.  I also saw Harpeth's Anderton boys but wasn't THAT impressed.

Isn't Heritage returning a strong team this year too?  Is Westmoreland dismal again this year?  What about WHHS--still gonna have a tough time?

  3. The Bobcat offense put up over 350 yards on Lipscomb but came up with zero points on two long drives and visits inside Lipscomb's 15 yard line, during Friday's game. Penalties killed us, but I don't think we saw the ball spread around like we did during the Springfield game.  If we eliminate the penalties, and spread the ball around again, we will be on our way to becoming District Champs on Friday.  I believe this game will decide this year's champion.  Looking forward to a great game!

I agree on spreading the ball around--Young showed poise and accuracy when throwing the ball the first half.....and then coach Williams turned around and had them throw (let me see......) ZERO times in third half!!??  Spread the wealth and GB wins vs WH.

  4. Cautious optimism for my GB Bobcats....sure they hung 54 on Spfd, but I saw a few series during that game where they took a play off here and there and the Jackets took advantage and kept it close for a while.

The veterans looked great though:  Young has matured into an apt leader with great decision-making skills, all the skill guys (Brown, Johns, Gonzer, Boles, Adcox, etc) were solid, they've changed a lot of the offense, and they have a couple monsters on the d-line (Dorris and Cherry) that can produce tackles for loss.

I'm stoked, because our year looks more promising now than it has recently.

  5. #1 Harpeth

    #2 Cheatham

    #3 GREENBRIER (whaaaa?????) lol

    #4 Sycamore

    #5 Heritage (whaaaaaa??)

    #6 White House

    #7 Westmoreland

I think we're both pretty much guessing on Harpeth and Cheatham (I know I am!).

I'm giving Greenbrier the #3 nod because I'm depending on getting our floor general J.R. Brown back this year. That'll give GB 3 great threats, plus the sophmore Bryant has been picked up by an AAU team for the off-season which always helps. Also, I think Sycamore DID lose 1 or 2 guys (correct if wrong) and GB played them super close at their place with absenteeism on both sides.

Heritage is probably the bracket-buster in my scenario. They have more than a couple guys that play summer ball, and I like their grittiness.

White House? Like my boy buledievlpdrie says, depends on which team shows up. Finish up with the lone ranger White at Westmoreland and there you go.

  6. Goob, i'll say that GB loses to Heritage and Goodpasture. They could pull out the win vs. Westmoreland. Heritage will probably have the transfer Ryan Sizemore from White House on board and eligible. The former All-District and All-Sumner County forward will provide a big boost off the bench for the Patriots. Goodpasture is just too much for the Bobcats to handle with multiple scoring options and a significant press defense. Westmoreland seems to be the more reasonable option for a win. At any rate, I would venture to say that GB wins at least one game in the District tourny and will advance on to the Regions. Where CPA is waiting..............

Pitchy, I HATE it when you throw the big truth bomb into my little utopian Greenbrier wins everything world!! But you're right--we just have the two guys. Sizemore hasn't played like himself this season; any background on that? Was it a coaching thing?

  7. 1st goodpasture - 2nd macon - 3rd sycamore or greenbrier. 4th. sycamore or green brier. 5th w.h.- 6th wetmoreland. this is the way it will go down unless sycamore or greenbrier beats goodpasture, both these teams still have to play them and i doubt either team beats them but i have seen stranger things happen.

I'm hoping for an end-of-season sweep this week with GB beating WHH, Westmoreland, and Goodpasture (fingers crossed), but even though they're playing good ball as of late they're still YOUNG (translation: unpredictable). Lets see what happens!

  8. Ok, no excuses GOOB1970. Macon County has not played great and Goodpasture seems to be the team to beat. Macon County has had some injuries to key people so I will take that into account. Still standing by my pick though.

and btw, I still think your picks were pretty accurate bud
  9. You caught me capn! Guilty of letting my allegiance to my team cloud my judgement!! But I'm still hoping we can pull some late February magic with an upset or 2 in the district like last years mediocre team.

Oh, and at the risk of sounding like a Vanderbilt fan, I'll go ahead and say I'm looking forward to next year. If our big freshie hangs around, he'll wind up being more of an impact player than ANY other in the district.

  10. You hit it on the HEAD BDP! Mason at GB didn't yell one time at his guys during a 10-pt loss to a H O R R I B L E Montgomery County team they had beaten by 30 earlier in the year, then he turns around and starts coaching his guts out while his team is still in the 1st quarter versus Westmoreland--and you KNOW the kids feel it too so they play accordingly.

What's even sadder than our district is how all us fans of different teams are agreeing how SAD the district is! But I'm with you guys on it.

  11. It's been pretty spotty in The Tennessean, except for the privates.....but ANYTHING beats Will Borthick of the Robertson County Times. That guy's not biased....he's just....bad. I personally enjoy sitting down with his articles and correcting all the misspells and sentence structure problems.

    Sorry guys--personal rant.
