What a loss for Rhea. Hopefully Cumberland County or Stone will step up and do what they should have done a few years ago.
-
They'd have a fighting chance if he hadn't ran his best assistant out of town. Everybody knows who the brain was behind those playoff teams. People wonder why it is so difficult to hire quality assistants in Cumberland County. The discussion begins and ends with the Goat Master.
-
That was probably him.
Heard he was gonna run a variety of the Wing T. He'll call it the Goatee.
-
Don't know what they were thinking, hiring a goat farmer as their head coach. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

ERA, I thought you were insane long before you started talking about the fall/spring debate. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
I have coached in TN and GA and I love fall softball. The fewer number of games played in GA has nothing to do with it being in the fall, it is restricted by the state association. You are limited to only 3 tournaments and can only play a set number of games in these tournaments. That is why most tourneys down here are 3 pool games and 4 round robin games. Most weeks during the GA season consists of 2 games, where as in TN you could very easily play Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and Sat. That just doesn't happen very much in GA.
As far as the travel ball/school ball debate, they both have advantages. Travel ball tends to have better competition but high school ball acclimates a player to the everday grind of practice and/or games. Bottom line is this, if a player can play she will play at the next level. I've had players play in college that didn't play travel ball at all, some that played travel ball for dumb ole me, and some that thought they had to play for the newest and greatest travel ball team to get a scholly. It all came back to whether the kid could play ball or not.
Sorry I don't usually post without my name at the bottom.

If Coach Doan is such a black baller, potty mouth, sore loser (which he isn't) why would you want him sitting on your side anyway. Coach Doan and myself coached against each other for a few years and this is what I learned about the man. He is as passionate about his girls playing the game the way it should be played as anyone in the state. What a terrible role model. Could he have said a bad word during a game? Probably so. There are probably very few coaches that could say they have never let a bad word slip. We are human.
As far as setting an example, lets talk about the one you just set masterasst. When you have a problem with someone lets not handle the problem with that person, lets get on a message board and bash the guy so noone knows who you are. What a role model.
By the way, Coach Doan and Coach Mc., give me a call some time, the cell # is the same as.

Some of these girls were on that Cyclone team a couple of summers ago. I believe 4 total. The catcher that will not play this year was also on that team as well as two that stayed at CCHS. Lauren Brown was not. She played with the Thunder that summer. Also none of the girls at Stone were on the CCHS runner up team in 2003. The seniors now were 8th graders that year.
Good luck to everyone this season. Hope everyone stays warm. It sure is nice playing ball in fall.

Add East Paulding High School from Georgia. Oh never mind its too cold for softball in March in TN.
It will be unusual not being at this tourney. Maybe I'll just pop in to see some good softball.

It is official. I am coaching softball at East Paulding High School in Dallas, GA. I really enjoyed my stint in TN. I met a lot of great coaches that I consider friends and I met a lot of others that I stole ideas from whether they realized it or not. Wildukcats, thanks for the kind words. I really enjoyed coaching against you as well. I will continue to keep up with all of you on good ole CoachT.

David, you may be able to answer a question that I have been wondering about. I heard the Cumberland County is building a new school and may change districts for you next year. How true is this and what is to be expected for you guys?
The new school (Stone Memorial) will play AA and Cumberland County HS will stay in district 5-3A. Most of the players from this years CCHS team will be at Stone Memorial next year.

To answer a few questions in previous posts, Cleveland does not have a tarp and Cumberland County is just set in a remote location. We would have to travel no matter which district we were in.
Also, I would like to thank the people on this thread. Coach T is a wonderful tool for coaches and parents but too many times it is used for bashing. This thread has been nothing but positive. District 5-3A is a very evenly matched district. Just look at the scores in the tournament as well as regular season. It is made up of a bunch of good ball players but they are even better kids. I can't remember the last time we had a problem on the field between players. One play from this tournament comes to mind. In our first game of the tourney against Rhea there was a play at third. The base runner and the third baseman got tangled up. The runner fighting to get to the bag and the third baseman fighting to get to the ball. Without words, pushes or anything else uncalled for both eventually got up. That was just good hard softball by both girls.
I am proud to be apart of this district.

Thanks for the post. We are glad that Marion Co. is becoming a regular in the tourney. The tournament wouldn't exist without the greatest booster club in the state.

White House lost to Central and Cumberland. They had a tough weekend with one player breaking her jaw and another out with a possible hair line fracture in her ankle.
Semifinals;
Hendersonville 5
Cumberland 4
Greenbrier over Sweetwater (not sure of the score)
Finals
Hendersonville 3
Greenbrier 2
Thanks to everyone that attended & thanks to whoever controlled the weather.

The tournament is held at Crossville Rec Park. If coming from the Interstate take a left at traffic light #10 off of 127. If coming from the south take a right at traffic light #10. Go thru the 4 way stop and park is on the right. Traffic light # 10 is north of town and First Nat'l Bank is on the corner.

I'm doing well. Living the non-softball life here in GA. I will be getting back into it soon though. Hope all is well with you and enjoy your free time. I know I have.
