Whitwell 23, S'town 8. 4:21 to go in 4Q. Well, at least it's not a shut-out...

Played better against CA and Fayetteville, 2 teams I know has beat and would beat Whitwell.... Huntland and C-ville would more than likely beat Whitwell.
Trust me... Summertown is not firing on all 11 cylinders tonight it appears.
Agreed. They've played some very tough teams and either won or at least fought a good battle. Tonight simply is a lack of experience. I'm certainly disappointed in tonight so far, but this team has exceeded everyone's expectations, and win or lose, should hold their heads high. They've had a remarkable season, and have nothing to be ashamed of. Armchair quarterbacks opinions are just that, opinions, and aren't worth much.

I'm hearing it's 10-0 Whitwell; almost half-time.

Just found out that CA won against Loretto.....
-
Scores are in for all games except Loretto / CA; and currently, it is a 12-A sweep with Summertown, Perry Co, and Frank Hughes all winning! Can Loretto make it a clean sweep?

The league in Lawrenceburg is called the Challenger League. It was started by Tommy Lee and Lisa Kidd, who have a daughter, Abigail, with Downs Syndrome. They are currently in the process of raising funds to install a rubberized field, so that wheelchairs and walkers can more easily be used.

Sad that there cannot be any representation here for the Summertown Eagles (32-7 record, ranked in the top 6 of the state in Class A). A team full of great, talented players, but no seniors. Next season, we'll own this list...
-
That is very impressive!
Yep! We're really proud of the team. No seniors and just 5 juniors. Several freshmen and sophomores either start or see a lot of playing time. They definitely performed better than expected this year. I predict that next year, it'll be great to be a Summertown Eagle and Summertown Eagle fan....
-
Congrats Summertown Eagles on a tremendous season! You'll come back next year stronger, older, and bigger. 32-7 is not bad for a team with not one senior on the roster.

DCR does all of this with a county population of around 10,000. Lots of respect for Summertown and SH. I like teams who play local kids.
Summertown's baseball, softball, volleyball, and basketball successes comes from a community of of less than 2,000. There were only 866 residents in the community proper at the 2010 census. There are three high schools in our county, with the vast majority of students going to Lawrence Co. High School.
And, just think, we're starting to add in some football...
Region 4 #3. Summertown (8-2) @ Region 3 #2. Whitwell (5-5)
in Class 1A & Class 2A

And, it's done. 23-8. Hate it for our boys, but as I posted before, there's no reason for our overachieving Eagles to hang their heads in shame. To got from a first ever season record of 2-8 to a second season record of 8-2 with a playoff berth is outstanding. And, these kids are just going to get better and better. Summertown has a long history of excellence in sports, and I see no reason why Summertown Football won't soon be enjoying that yearly excellence. Now, on to basketball!
