  1. If Im correct Clay County / Jackson County play in same the District

............. Summertown / Loretto play in in the same region

......... ... Lake County / Union City play in the same ditrict.

thats 3 sets of district foes who can not be set up to play in 1st round games..should be an extra incentative to win 2 games in order to play your distict foe for the Championship..

Summertown and Loretto are in the same district, District 12A. Not to mention, they are also in the same county.....Summertown in north Lawrence Co, and Loretto in south Lawrence co. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see them meet for the, what is it, fifth time, this season, at state? That'd be completely awesome....go EAGLES!!!!!!

  2. Lawrence County will be well represented at the Girls State Tournament next week as all three county girls teams will be playing. Congratulations to the Summertown Lady Eagles, Loretto Lady Mustangs, and Lawrence County Lady Wildcats. Should make for an interesting week. Let's all get behind our county teams and rock Murphy Center!

A sincere and hearty congrats to all three teams!!!

  3. Anybody who follows District 12A knows the battle the Summertown Lady Eagles have faced this season, playing without their teammate and friend, Sarah Graham, who passed away several months ago. The team dedicated this season to Sarah, and wear black t-shirts with a lime green '32' and 'Graham' on the back and lime green shoe strings in tribute. Tonight, Clifton came to Summertown to play basketball, and I was told, wore the black / lime green Graham t-shirts AND the lime green shoe strings in tribute to Sarah, too. I am awestruck, as I am sure many Eagle fans are, tonight. Way to go Clifton, that is an amazing class act.... :thumb:

  4. I've heard in the news about two Loretto High School alumni being drafted by the Braves - Lamm (a Vanderbilt Sr) and Clint Wright (a CSCC Soph). Does anybody know how many other Tennesseans have been drafted this year?

I think it's really cool when opportunities like this happen to folks I know. Don't remember Lamm, but I watched every game of Wright's very first baseball season (he was 4, lol!) and for several years after. If he makes it big, I'll be able to say, "I knew him when...."!!!! :thumb:

  5. Congratulations to the Summertown Eagles on a great season, and to the seniors on a great high school baseball career! Sucks that it had to end this way, today, guys, but you've had an awesome season! Don't let today define your memories of your high school baseball careers; you're all great guys and will go on to do many great things......

  6. Summertown beat Trinity Christian earlier today, 7-4. Way to go, SHS Eagles!!!!

This evening, Friendship Christian beat Trinity, sending them back home, and setting up a repeat matchup with Summertown tomorrow. The good news for Summertown is they only have to beat Friendship Christian once more to move on to the championship game. The bad news for Friendship? They will have to beat Summertown twice to move on to the championship game.

    LET'S GO EAGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flower::D:thumb::flower:

  7. If you don't regularly watch a team play, you don't have the right to judge them, IMO, especially if all you have seen is the one game yesterday. Yesterday's game was not indicative of Summertown's skill OR style of play. Think about it; if that is how Summertown typically plays, how'd they get thru the regionals, let alone make it to the Elite 8? Everyone has an off-day now and then. It doesn't lessen the great things those boys accomplished this season, and it speaks volumes about the maturity level of some of the "fans" here, to put down HIGH SCHOOL basketball players. I really hope that your team doesn't face the same attitudes when they lose. Now, why don't y'all go find some poor old ladies to pick on?

Congrats, Eagles, on an amazing season. Anytime you make it to the 'boro, you've made us hometown folk proud! Go Perry Co, win that championship for District 12!!!!!

  8. I think u misunderstood what WCHSGrad was saying - that was a congratulations to Loretto from us in Wayne Co. He wasn't saying Loretto is in Wayne Co. Lol All of us from Wayne Co are pulling for a District 12 rematch in the championship.

Then WCHSGrad should have been more clear in his post. My first thought was that he was congratulating some of the girls because they must have been from Wayne Co but were now playing for Loretto. Never even thought of this other interpretation.

Regardless, good luck to both District 12A teams tomorrow!!!!!

  9. Way to go Lady Mustangs from Wayne County!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe the Lady Cats can do the same............

Congratulations to the Loretto Lady Mustangs from LAWRENCE COUNTY - not Wayne County! Good luck in round 2, bring that Class A Lady's crown back home to Lawrence County!!!!! And send good vibes to our Summertown Eagles in the Men's tournament next week!!!!!

  10. OK .The eye sore comment was a little to rash sorry about that.I know you love your gym,you had a big sign saying so.But your gym is too small to hold a district, regional,or sectional tournament game.If a firemarshall had been there alot of people would have to leave and your school would recieve a big fine unless the firemarshall is the mayor, chief of police, principal,or your coaches father. If a fire broke out alot of people would die becuase you cant get out quick enough.I know you love your gym,but a pig loves a mud hole too and you can only put so many pigs in a mud hole.CONGRATS on your victory but Perry County stole the spotlight last night.

There would have been no fine. The gym was not over capacity. It seats 975. Were more than 975 tickets sold to the game? I don't think so.....

Summertown's gym is beautiful and historic. There is nothing wrong with Summertown's gym, and it definitely can hold a district, regional, or sectional tournament game, as was proven last night.

And, while we're at it, Perry County certainly deserves the spotlight for their OT upset victory last night. But, that doesn't mean that Summertown and the other six teams that are going to the 'boro are chump change.
