  2. i found my own answer to the outcome of the UTC-VA tech on the hokie website:

The Hokies finished the day with a big comeback victory over the host Mocs of UTC. Trailing 4-0, Hoffman came up with a 5-1 win over Josh Keefe. UTC took a 7-3 before Carpenter pinned Josh Cofer at the 2:12 mark to put Tech up 9-7. The Mocs jumped back ahead with a technical fall at 157 pounds and a decision at 165 pounds. Borja brought the Hokies within three, picking up a 6-3 decision over Josh Ward. UTC took an 18-12 lead when John Davis beat Guttridge in overtime. Following the match, Tech was deducted one team point, making it 18-11. But the Hokies weren't done, fighting back to pick up the win. At 197 pounds, Prater picked up a huge pin of Drew Roberts at the 1:15 mark to make it 18-17, Mocs. Needing any type of win, Wiedegreen, a senior from Blacksburg, came up with a 5-2 decision over Jason Pennington to give Tech the 20-18 win.

  3. i have no idea how many were in attendance. it was a great meet.

my favaorite match would probably be josh keefe(UTC) nearly upsetting 3rd ranked zach roberson(Iowa St). but there were several others right up there.

i had to leave before the end of UTC-VA tech. what was the team outcome?

  4. congrat's to jake yost for his 2nd place finish! (i found the results thru a link on tnwrestling.com.) keller and kcknight made it to the qtr finals.

i heard that simpson had had a concussion before the tourney and then hit his head again at the tourney. can someone fill us in?

it is sad that (apparently) nothing was communicated to the chattanooga newspaper about this. there was no coverage of the event and no results afterwards.

  5. 1966 McCallie grad, 4-time mid south wrestling champ, national prep champ, and big ten (University of Michigan) champ Lou Hudson died in a bicycle crash on Tuesday.

He was training for the 3-State 3-Mountain bike race and apparently lost control on the descent from Sand Mountain, GA (near Chattanooga).

There is an obit in today's Chattanooga Times Free Press. The funeral is at 5:00 p.m. today (Saturday) at the Chattanooga Funeral Home - North Chapel.

  7. (reviving an old thread)

you were correct - Dustin Catlett was unstoppable and [virtually] unbeatable this year (other than the machine he met up north). congrat's to one of the best wrestlers in TN this year, if not THE best!

  8. from my very close vantage point at floor level, the first thing to hit was not creagans face, but rather both of his HANDS. scooter did not (unlike last year) drop the other wrestler on his head.

  9. i also am not an official and cannot give a professional opinion, but i think that it was a bad call. in the newspaper the ref is quoted as saying that scooter lifted creagan over his head and brought him down with force. i was seated in fron of the front row only a few feet from the mat with a perfect angle on the takedown, and that is not what i saw. scooter had him at chest/shoulder level and just dropped him flat on his belly. creagan's hands were in front to catch the fall. there was no chance of injury. i booed right along with what seemed like a majority of the arena over the call. i really wish that we could have seen an overtime for the match.

that said, i am not at all supporting what scooter did afterwards. his diplay was not only a disgrace, it bordered on criminal.
