  1. Sterling was better than Bohanon and Summers????? Your smoking that good stuff son!!! lol Bohanon went to Alabama, Summers to UT...where did sterling go?

Typical illiterate OR fan. I said best HIGH SCHOOL running back last 10 years, let me repeat TEN years. Yeah Sterling was better than Bohanan, had better stats in high school and your hero Bohanan had ZERO rushes at Alabama, just like Sterling had zero at Ole Miss. Looks like they both had the same college career, and Sterling had the better high school one. Therefore, Sterling>Bohanon. Man just keep digging that ditch a little deeper, you just keep looking worse as you go. Maybe you've had a dose of radiation from Y-12.

  2. oh yeah, do you remember shawn williams, shawn summers, and shaun bohanon too farragut grad? lol....yeah, i remember sterling and purdy, 2 pretty good running back, but nowhere near the backs the guys i named. I can still remember gulmire walking on nick reveiz's chest in 2005...so awesome....gotta start up the smacktalk dude, the season is about to get underway, and we are coming after the admirals this year. yall have gotten us 5 in a row buddy, but you got a LONG ways to go to reach the most recent 12 game win streak and 9 game win streak just to name a few we have had over you guys. Hope you have enjoyed your recent success over us :)

No I haven't heard of any of those guys, probably because they were not very good. Sterling was leaps and bounds better than Gulmire, as evidenced by the 2800 yards he put up his senior year. And Gulmire ran over Brett Courtney not Nick Reveiz, so if you're going to trash talk please atleast get your facts right. Don't live in the past either, I don't care if you had a 34 game win streak in 1934.. this is 2011.

  4. Who are the best running backs to play in TN the last 10 years? I'm not talking about what they did after high school in college, but what they did at the high school level..

I'm going to start with Dennis Rogan and Andre Sterling. They have to be at the very top of the list, not sure there was anyone better than those two that I saw.. What about middle/west TN? Name some names..

  5. To be honest with you I watched farragut play and was not as impressed as years past. They struggle hitting fastballs other than simcox and Nicky d. However the key to their success has been the way they have played as a team. They are a true team.. not as good as years past but they know how to play in when in counts. Columbia is going to be a good matchup seeing how they hit columbias pitching.

They beat them 2-0 earlier this year with Pfeifer pitching. Xander will be throwing today on 2 day's rest, so I have a feeling it's going to be another close game with Horne probably pitching. Probably will be decided by 1 or 2 runs, and I'll take Delmonico and Farragut in that situation.

  6. Tell me about it, Glock. From one of the favorites (IMO), to on their way home, all in less than 24 hrs. Oh well, it happens. At least they got a taste of the state tournament, they will probably be back the next couple of years as they are loaded, may be better next year than this year. With Pfeifer leaving Farragut, Maryville should really clean up the next year or two.

Not so fast my friend. Farragut plays a ton of young guys. Virtually everyone will be back besides Pfeifer and Delmonico. Xander Taylor is only a junior this year and is a great pitcher/hitter.

  7. Farragut beats Collierville 9-6 in 8 innings. Delmonico pitched bottom of 7th for Farragut to hold Collierville at bay, then comes up and crushes a deep 3-run home run to make it 9-6. Bottom of the 8th he comes back on the bump and strikes out the side to end the game.

Incredible. So far Nicky is putting together one of the best state tournament performances I have ever seen, I'm not sure he's even gotten out yet. Whatever questions the MLB scouts had about him earlier in the year are a distant memory right now.

  8. Yep...Maryville just lucky to beat Farragut 3 out of 5 games (2 of the wins again a healthy Pfeiffer) and extremely lucky to get by Science Hill's Norris 8-2. Are you serious???? If so, keep underestimating the REBELS. Congrats to the Maryville boys...they have more than earned the right to be there.

One win against Pfeifer actually. Maybe you should worry about your own team, considering you got thumped 8-1 by Columbia today.

  9. On a serious note, I do expect Farragut to win this one. It's a whole different stage playing in the state tournament, and those seniors have been there 3 times. I'm also pulling for MJ to win in the first game, they always play Farragut extremely tough.

  10. And gradfad your right the gods know and so does the game. So clean your life up and let the kids play.

are you illiterate? Do you have any knowledge of the English language? You sound like an unlearned imbocile.

  11. Whoever you are from a former player please shut up! You are embarrasing the program. Let the other side do the trash talk, and let our players do the trash talk for you the best way they know how by winning. O, and fyi Phil is more than likely done for the year, so if you're going to talk smack at least know your facts.

Your sarcasm meter is broke. This was in response to a previous thread, so if you're going to talk smack at least know your facts.

  12. I guess we will see how mighty Soddy Daisy really is when Farragut plays them in the first round of the AAA state tournament. Hopefully Pfeifer doesn't get "rocked" by the powerful SD hitters. Haha, funny how the baseball gods set things up!

  13. I covered the game for WVLT. HD highlights in ten minutes!

I was impressed with Farragut's resiliency. They did a nice job battling back when they were down to their last two outs. Maryville's kids showed a lot of heart, but the untimely error by the first baseman doomed them.

On another note, I hope somebody gets the Admiral student section under control. Kids will be kids, but calling players on the other team "homos" and chanting individual names on the losing team after the game isn't acceptable. It reflects poorly on what is a fine school with great tradition and nice people.

But that did little to blight what was an impressive comeback performance. Best of luck to both teams in substate!

Thanks for the highlights Wes, I think you guys do the best job out of the big 3 of covering baseball, and the HD looks awesome. And yeah, those kids have been a problem all year.. Ralph Skinner has gotten on to them multiple times. Hopefully they'll quit, but thanks for updates/highlights.

  14. I couldn't disagree with you more. After much reading and studying I have found that college coaches pay little to no attention to the parameters you listed above. Here is a direct quote from the hsbaseballweb website.

"Some teams and conferences are not as strong as others. Simply being the best player on a team or league may not qualify your son to compete at the highest level in college. On the other hand, if your son has played sparingly in high school, this doesn't mean he can't compete in college and get a scholarship."

I've also talked to an Under Armor representative from Maryland, who basically stated the same thing. If what you say is correct then there would be no need for college coaches or scouts to do any evaluations or any need for travel teams, college showcase camps or other showcases. They would simply look at the stats and make a decision. It is the players and parents responsibility in finding the right college to attend. An evaluation helps narrow the field from the start and helps them be more focused on finding the right place.

Why ask the question then? You've already answered yourself. If you need to ask if he is good enough or not, then in all likely hood he is not good enough to play college ball. Simple and honest truth.

  15. From Knoxville News Sentinel:

"Senior Philip Pfeifer, one of the nation’s top prospects, exited after pitching the first inning. Pfeifer earlier missed a month of the season with arm troubles.

“Something was not feeling right in his arm,†said Buckner.

“He’s hurting … he wouldn’t come out unless he was hurting.â€

Buckner said Pfeifer is questionable for the sectional game.

“Friday is probably not an option. That would be my guess.â€

Farragut just may will have to do it without Pfeifer.

Coach speak. Wouldn't read too much into it. People who were there have told me they didn't see anything from him to indicate he was too hurt. More like the cold weather made it tighten up. But I guess we shall see won't we?

  16. Not sure now where the Farragut/Maryville game will be played. Both TSSAA and Coacht have Farragut as the home team.

    Region 2

    Host..........Visitor

    Farragut......Maryville ...... R2AAA

    http://tssaa.org/2010Champions/StateBaseball/ClassAAA/Region.htm

TSSAA fixed the problem. Game will be at MC. Not sure how much of a difference a few miles will make for either team though, should be a good game. Wonder if Buck would gamble on throwing Pfeifer so they wouldn't have to go to Kingsport? Most of the time I would always say rest him for sub-state, but with D-No probably waiting on the loser, I just don't know.

Anyone have any predictions for SH/Jeff Co. game? How's Jeff Co. this year I've only seen SH play.
