Due to budgets cuts Wilson County is cutting all coaches pay as of Sept. 15th. No band, football, volleyball, basketball etc.. coaches. It's is sad for these kids in this county. They deserve better. Second richest county in the state and we can't find money for coaches??? Sports are the best teacher of life skills in any school system. Some of these kids have a chance to play at the next level. Now they will be left at in the cold. It's in todays Lebanon Democrat, not sure what the site would be. Check it out.
I'm not making light of the situation but WHEN did Wilson Co. become the second richest county in the state?

what does coleman coach? will anyone follow carver? what school is he interested in? many schools looking for coaches all over. is carver a head coach type?
No. Carver is not a head coach type. Nobody knows him good enough to hire him. The BlackNight has lots of interest in Carver. One and the same??? Possibly.
Coach Coleman went to FC to run the wt. room. Took a huge paycut to do so. When FC needed a special ed. teacher, Carver informed the principal that Coleman had that certification. The principal then moved Coleman out of the wt. room and Carver into the wt. room. A self-serving move by the Yankee?? I think so. Coach Coleman is going to Smyrna - the back to back 5A state champs. He's gonna teach special ed. At least this time he'll make enough money.
Carver is burning lots of bridges.

While I like Coach Britton as a man and a coach I tend to agree with some of the other poster I watched several games this year and see no reason that Franklin county did not win that region. They have far more athletes than any other school in region 3. I think Coach Britton was just in over his head. It would be hard to go from coaching a possition to a head job without at least being a coordinater first. I also want to ask you LOD has the line play dropped off any at the Dale since Britton has left. I have not seen any drop so do you think it could be the players and not the coach that made that line so great. Just a thought.
There's not been a drop in line play since Britton left, BUT with the majority of the linemen at R'dale sighning scholarships yesterday, that may be more of a factor than coaching. Now that R'dale is gonna replace four or five linemen, let's see what happens. With that heralded line, R'dale should have been state champs! I think the majority of the R'dale fans would agree with me that had Rankin had that line, they would have that #5 ring they're looking for.
My point is that Britton was a HUGE factor in the four rings R'dale has. Ya'll didn't give him enough time.
-
I think that Morris Rogers, the county AD, ought to have his shot at the job. He apparently considers himself an expert since he has been very critical of Coach Britton. His top assistant needs to be the guy from up North that Coach Britton hired. This guy has weaseled his way into the wt. room and has backstabbed more than one of his fellow assistants. My respect for Franklin Co. has dwindled down to nothing. I hope you guys get what you deserve.

Greetings from Region 4-5A
We're hearing at Oakland High School in Murfreesboro that Tommy McDaniels from Moore Co. is our new head football coach. What kind of coach is he?
-
Coach Collins was walking around and introducing Tommy McDaniels tonight at the ballgame. According to my sources, it's a done deal. The announcement may be tomorrow.
-
The announcement should be made within a day or two. Does anyone have a list of finalists?
-
Congratulations to the Smyrna players and coaches for a job well done. Any team that can make the playoffs out of Region 4-5A and then beat the top teams from the region AGAIN thru the playoffs is to be commended. It amazes me that Smyrna is the two-time defending state champs but in either year, haven't won the region. It shows that Region 4-5A is indeed the toughest in the state without a doubt. Great job guys! Enjoy it.

one of the best coaches in the state...Go Pats
Well it seems like all the "old timers" know the answer. I just hope the "young pups" aren't disappointed after such a big buildup. One of the best coaches in the state??? I guess that description depends on your viewpoint. As long as he can win..........BRING HIM ON!!
-
Out of respect for him, I cannot reveal it right now. But trust me......if he decides to accept, I will be dancing in the street. My source is impeccable.
Humor me..........are his initials RB??
-
Well 2P if you'll be so kind to tell us the name then we ALL might Pray for him to take it.
-
MCdaniel has one yr of head coaching experience. I have nothing against the guy whatsoever b/c I have always heard good things about him.......but he has been at 2 schools in 2 yrs. None of them have been 5A either. I don't think of him as proven yet. Do you think Collins is really the one in charge? I just can't see a football guy like Butch letting anyone have that much power.
I heard someone at work mention Gaddis from Henry Co. also.
Everyone I've talked too said Collins is the one conducting all the interviews. I guess he takes the best ones to Vaughn.
-
No, I do not want Rankin. I don't care how many rings he has. Being an OHS fan like me, I know you must know the story of Coach Griz and how lhis life changed so dramatically. Well, I know four young men who have never recovered from being a sr at Riverdale in 99 b/c of one person. Sometimes it is more about HOW you get treated than if you win.
Yes, I could definitely live with Crawford at Oakland!!! I think he gets results and truly cares about his players. I also like Jerry Joslin.
Most folk could win rings with all the athletes Riverdale had.......and I still say I would like to see him take over at a school like Red Boiling Springs. If he could win there, then give him the key to the state.
What about you? Who do you think should get it or who do you know has applied?
Crawford would be a great choice. However, I think if Collins is truly calling the shots he'll hire McDaniel from Moore Co. Just a guess though.
I just want a proven coach with a great staff and lots of energy.
-
About to be fired? You are definitely wrong on this one. That is simply NOT true. He was even offered Head Coach at Siegel and I know this for a fact. Proven coaches have rings.......and Marty has one....!!! I would rather see him at OHS than any other candidate, esp an ARROGANT one called Rankin.
Yes, he has a ring; however most people say he did it with kids toughened up by Butler. I also know he was offered the head coaching job at Siegel, as was his entire staff and the rest of the Oakland faculty.
So if Rankin was TRULY interested in this job, a man about to coach in his 10th(I think) state championship game, you would rather have someone that's only been once?
There's NOBODY out there you'd rather have??? At all???
-
I am praying that you do have an inside source on this one. There is nothing that could make me happier than to see Marty U return HOME once again. I simply can't express how I feel about the very thought. HE is definitely the man for the job. He has proven himself already at Oakland. The man has discipline, desire, competitiveness, drive, and would know what he was getting into. The most important thing is that the man hates to Lose.....and his standards are very high that he sets for his players and himself. I know the players would be encouraged to put Christ first under his direction, and the rest would all fall into place.Geez........I hope you are right and are not just teasing me. I finally have some hope......... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
I don't disagree with you much 2P, but I do on this one. If memory serves me correctly he was about to be fired from OHS right before he took the Jeff Co. job. The arrogance factor rubbed many people the wrong way. Oakland needs a proven coach. Coach U has had losing records at two of the three schools at which he's been head coach. I'm hoping our sights are aiming quite a bit higher.

6 pts...............you know what that is fballismyhero?? That's how many points Smyrna scored in 8 quarters of regulation play against Oakland's defense.
Look at the video on the DNJ.......look at which team's coaches were on the field between the two teams. Smyrna's coaches were nowhere to be found.
5 for 6...........Hicks, 5 carries for 6 yards after letting everyone know they were going to the "SHIP"
