He will get the best players in the city just because of who he is.... I don't know what East has coming back next year, but my guess is he will have them competing at a very high level. East could very easily become a national powerhouse with this hire. 

they have coming back Robert Washington who is a 6-7 jr forward   they also have Blake Williams over there  they should get Alex Lomax who was Lester's best player  they have 3 very good soph in Roddarrius Washington,Tekorian Smith, and Nick Merrweather plus Darren Shelton who will be  senior

Also we can add this years Whitestation team to this as many as 6 to 7 d-1 players and they lost in the sectional

2008- Maryville- As good or better team, IMO, than 2007 MHS team that won AAA state title, lost a nip and tuck battle with a dynamite Oak Ridge team in Region elimination game. If only the late, great Aaron Douglas had been fully healthy instead of nursing lingering injuries from football. Penny will make them better I think they  are still a year Away from challanging Hamilton and Whitestation for district but they are young as most everyone was freshmen and sophmores last year   and you know their will be transfers  so im going to say they can contend next year

Coach Henning is one of the most upstanding people I beleve him too when he says he did not know I feel really bad for the other kids who worked hard

I don't think liberty beats Mitchell at mitchell

Something is strange ober there. They did not have a girls team this year also.

things been going downhill over there for the last couple of years. If you remeber they had a team that was top ten then they had to forfeit all there games because they had a player that had been in highschool 5 years plus I know this season they had two players who could not play at hamilton because of the 2.0 rule then all of sudden they were playing there

I did not either I thought after the way they played in the district tournament that we were going to see the team much of us expected to see all year. But it is memphis and u never know wat to expect this time of year

Oh no. We only have 230 kids in High School. No way we could compete in 2A with that type of enrollment. We could hold our own against some of the teams but not on a consistent basis. Good luck to Mitchell for the rest of the year.

Also Hillcrest Oakhaven and Fairley are moving down they will compete in A. So its not a bad move

1) Ridgeway (D15AAA - 1) vs Hamilton (D16AAA - 4): Winner - Ridgeway

2) Whitehaven (D16AAA -2) vs Houston (D15AAA - 3): Winner - Whitehaven

 

Bottom Bracket:

 

1) White Station (D16AAA - 1) vs Germantown (D15AAA - 4): Winner - White Station

2) Southwind (D15AAA - 2) vs Melrose (D16AAA - 3): Winner - Southwind

 

 

I anticipate all of these games to be competative except for the Germantown/White Station game. I almost selected Melrose over Southwind. I may change it before game time. Who else wants to prognosticate with me?

you can give me Ridgeway Houston WhiteStation Southwind I. Want to pick Melrose but I don't think they do it with out Markell and Jamarrio

 

 

If i was on the opposing side and a team shot 57 free throws i'm sure they would throw me out of the gym because thats just insane. No way that happens in high school basketball unless the refs are completely biased.

Nope they beat them last year in the regional first round at Dyer Co.

I call it the Dyer Co. effect.... when you have coaches giving the refs a hard time, the fans giving the refs a hard time, and the students giving the refs a hard time.... if you were a ref, eventually you'll feel like your not doing your job and finally start calling fouls, lol.... That's what makes DC probably the toughest place to play in rural West TN for any team.

. I can understand how it goes its like playing at Whitestation here in Memphis. Its just 57 freethrows in one game is insaine some teams don't shoot that many in two games heck N.B.A teams might shoot that many in,a game sounds like a lil bout of home cooking

By the way, the CA wrote a very nice article on Mitchell's PG, Mario McNeil. I see Micthell will be playing against Sheffield for the City Championship game. My barbar, who is Mitchell alum, has been singing the priases of the Micthell BBall team even before the season started. I think Mitchell is a favorite to win the Championship in AA.

White Station beats Melrose in quadruple overtime! WOW! Talk about battle royale! That was just a City Championship semi-final game!

I hope that is the case because the timing STINKS! Ridgeway can not afford to lose to Wooddale. I don't know how the TSSAA playoff selection process works so the point may be mute.

 

The competition is way to tight in Memphis, especially in AAA for this type of mistake. District 15 AAA's top two teams (Southwind, Ridgeway) along with 4 teams from District 16 AAA (Melrose, Whitehaven, White Station, Hamilton) all have state championship caliber teams full of D1 caliber players (ESPN's 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 basketball recruiting databases all have current Memphis High school players listed in each classification respectively); Memphis Central and Memphis East notwithstanding. Getting out of this meat grinder requires your full compliment of players. Anything less will have you packing your uniforms in. mothballs before you desire.
