Who takes ownership of that issue? That question never seems to get legitimately answered. Just another excuse, or natural disaster or point the finger at this person, or that person is in charge, or you say too much just be quiet or we can't afford this or that...

The BoT needs to do what they've been appointed to do and hold the Administrator(s) of the school accountable. You have a struggle of power internally and you have a bunch of yes men/women who don't have the intestinal fortitude to question leadership because they're too worried about what might happen to them, or their kid(s) that are in school there. Or, they're buddies with this Coach, or that Administrator or this BoT member.

Stop pretending to act like you're doing something and actually do something, as a whole, about the state of the school from A-Z.  If any of those parties don't like it and don't want to play nice, then show them to the exit. Get the right people in place that want to move the needle in the right direction and don't want to preserve the status quo.

People work hard to place their kids in the hands of these Decision makers calling the shots. The least they can do is provide the best ROI on those family's investments.

And this isn't field of dreams either. Is the facility upgrade(s) a good thing? Sure, but the focus is not on the actual problem. When the actual problem(s) get dealt with head on, then you have growth. You don't have a beautiful garden without pruning. Maybe time to snip snip and plant some new seed(s).

And your correct as far as a HC for football, or any sport for that matter. You need a good leader and developer of players. But how does that start? By the current powers that be living that out intentionally to draw that type of candidate to the school. That type of attractiveness has been lacking for the most part in my opinion. When you have a unified front, Admin(s), BoT, etc. then you'll see more than 25 kids on a football team and one of the Greatest TNHS Football coaches not walking out the door.

Not to mention, return support from past alumnus that believe in the cause from more than just one or two people in the school reaching out and creating a welcoming environment. Sometimes the remodel isn't the building itself.

I digress, however. We're on to the next round.:popcorneater:

Agree totally.  5 turnovers hurt.  Scoreboard very misleading, easily could have been 70-7 score.  Waverly has another 550 yard plus game.  Secondary is lacking big time, and gotta clean up the turnovers.  No head coach on sidelines last night either, that always throws the players and game plan off somewhat.

    Where was head coach?

Waverly takes on White House at Titans Nissan Stadium Thursday night at 7pm.

This will be treated as a Titans Game Day with Mike Keith announcing, cameras, replay, all the bells and whistles. What an awesome experience for both teams.

Admission is FREE with a recommended donation to Waverly Flood Relief. All info can be found in link below.

This is Waverly’s only “Home Game” so this will be Senior night and Homecoming.

Big game, as this is a Region match up. White House 3-1 vs Waverly 3-0.

Game is open to anyone who wants to come support! Donations appreciated.

    Thoughts on this game?!

Do you know if you can donate at the game or have to donate online?

What a cluster. Coach Winfree told the administration and the team before he season he was leaving. 7 months later the guy making the hire appointments himself.

So is it Co-coaches? Wow that should save the school some money! Guess it starts tomorrow morning at practice?

I will say yes, but it will be from someone on faculty. I will agree with BigENS on one thing. The whole situation at DCA is a dumpster fire. Has been for years if not over a decade. No accountability or results driven criteria whatsoever. The athletic department has been ran into the ground. There is only one individual to point the finger at in this case. Time for house cleaning. Wake up Board members!

    This is absolutely correct!

I was at the CPA v Hillsboro game but heard that DA put in a show offensively here. Good first half it looks like, wonder what was changed so drastically in the second half.  DA should keep rolling.

also heard the highlight of the night was one of the teachers breaking up a fight after the game.

DA had a couple turnovers. But the DA touch down catch just before the half was as good a catch you will see at any level of football.

Dumbest statement I have ever read on the T. Everyone entitled to their opinion tho.

Guess you forgot about this one!

"Nothing interesting at all here IMO. Score will be whatever FCS wants it to be but I am guessing a 28-7 final. Once JM gets the lead he is just gonna sit on it and run the clock. GCS appears to be much improved over last season but I do not see that adding up to many, if any, additional wins over the 1 they got last year."

You are uninformed. It's D2 and tuition assistance is available. You know the number to the school. Call and ask what the process is for those that qualify for tuition assistance.

Your view isn't based on realism, it's based on opinion. Since you haven't gone through the process you are in fact uninformed.

I'm fairly certain all D2 schools use the same service re tuition assistance/financial aide though. I am guessing but I would say a decent percentage of students attending the schools discussed in this thread receive some sort of discount.

It's not about being "Mr " anything whatsoever. It's about knowing the facts re tuition as it relates to actual cost.

Probably I am uninformed.  But it is going to be difficult, although not impossible, for some of these smaller d2 schools to keep going like they have in past. Using your Wilson county opinion about % of dca students. How is that new high school going to affect them . Also it appears DCA tuition is increasing at a faster rate than the 2 comparable d2 schools in Wilson county.  Regarding the financial aide, most schools use either FACTS or SSS to calculate an amount then it is up to the school to decide how much to give to students.  Per dca info "The amount awarded is generally between ten and thirty-two percent of the family's calculated need ..."

And like you said other discounts, yet the vast majority of students don't have parents or grandparents that work at school to get that large discount. What other discounts are available?

With the new high school going to be built in my juliet,  that newness and no tuition will take away from some the small privates (in MY opinion)

Come on. Wages are going up and folks with the ability to afford  middle class schools are moving to middle TN daily. Not to mention tuition assistance available to many at D2 schools.

The folks that generally make those comments are uninformed.

Yeah most of us who have a realistic view, that doesnt totally agree with you, are normally uninformed.

We can't all be Mr DCA.

I know you have been on here for a long time and are hard core DCA, sorry to get your panties in a wad. I was responding to Booger, not you. I'm not disrespecting DCA or any other private, just stating the fact that private school cost are getting more unaffordable. Since you are the DCA expert,, share with us the he tuition cost (uniforms, media included) to attend in 2008 vs 2018.

You are correct. They are getting to where they will price themselves out of business.  I think in 2008 tuition about $5000 or so . Now it is just under $12500. Then with all the other extracurricular fees. More and more not going to be able to pay.

Building for the future. Lots of excitement for his program and the new middle school coach. Kids are coming out to play that didn't before. Coaching staff that has been put together is very good with BJ Coleman coaching the QB's.

PC, I agree they have good coaches and lot of excitement building.  What happened to have the low #s. Seems like when I saw a couple games 3 or 4 years ago they had close to 40 players

You back the Brinks truck up to get PW, how are you going to pay his assistants? You pay him.... Then what? Everyone else do it for free? I don't think so. Everyone talking about him like he is single handedly going to get DCA on top. You're crazy to think that. Go back and look at the staff that PW was on when he was A PART of all 10 of those teams. I will guarantee you that those staffs were loaded with top assistants and talent. And another thing he has always seem to put himself in a winning situation. Easy to coach top talent.

This wouldn't be one of those situations. This would be the head coach scraping together a staff on peanuts with a bad roster.

    MOJO

I think they need some help unloading that Brinks truck, are you available?

I never said he would get DCA to the top. IMHO it will be a rebuilding job for couple years unless they get transfers and some more of DCA and USN athletes to start playing . He is a very good coach.  Will there be new assistants added? Some leave?

Could CPW be on DCA campus today? Meeting with admins or current assistants?

    Totally agree Panther.

PW has won all those rings where the best talent was, he has done a good job of putting himself in places to be successful.  I'm sure he is a good coach, but coaches are always better when they have the best talent. If he was such a home run hire and reason for all Ensworth rings why would Ensworth let him go?   Ensworth did not have best talent last few years and = no rings.

I think PW will be named coach this next week. With the many ties to the school and community he will stay there many years

I am not a candidate. Lol

Its exciting to see this process and I am going to watch it play out.

Will read the thread and not respond. Time to sit and wait is here. :)

So would Sellars or White be in the finalist if they can't make it work with PW
