Siegel and Oakland both have a nice crop of sophomores and juniors that will return next season. I think they both have a shot at winning 8 or 9 games and the district.

I watched both teams play in the state championship games. Ensworth has much more team speed on both sides of the ball. Ensworth is has a better defensive backfield, running backs and interior lineman. Maryville has a better linebacking core and a better qb. Special teams seems to be about the same as far as kicking goes, but Ensworth has the edge in the return game. If they both played their best game against each other, Ensworth wins. Ensworth had a fluke hiccup early on against Baylor and that was proven by beating Baylor 48-10 at state without Corn Elder, their best player. Ensworth played a tougher schedule giving them another advantage. I would love to see this game scheduled in the next couple of years. They shared 1 common opponent in Knoxville Webb. Ensworth beat them 40-0 and Maryville beat them 30-7. Ensworth was up 33-0 at half and the Ensworth Freshman offensive unit scored against Webb's starters midway through the third quarter.

"Ensworth is a one man team".Possibly the most untrue sentance ever posted on these boards(but I'll admit that no one short of a prophet could've known that).Sorry for the Elder kid to "miss" the game from an injury,but poetic justice for the rest of the team who've had to listen to that misconception for their whole career.Great execution by a great TEAM.

Untrue and ignorant........This game was not even close I was really disappointed that I drove 2 hours to see such a blowout. So many great players on both teams but Ensworth has the upper hand. Congrats to Ensworth. Really wish Baylor could have played at least half way decent so the game may have been more exciting.

Can not wait for this game!!! I will be there. I wish that the TSSAA would arrange the championship games so that DIIAA and 6A played on the same night. My pick is Ensworth 38 Baylor 37.

Not trying to stir anything up, my first statement is a fact, the second statement is an opinion. My team will be playing in the state championship game Thursday night at 7pm. I could care less who wins this game. However no one can deny the fact that Riverdale is more battle tested than Maryville.

Riverdale beat SIX 6A playoff teams, one 4A team still playing and one 5A team still playing as well as the #4 team in Kentucky in St. X. The only team they beat regular season that did not make the playoffs was LaVergne who finished at 3-7 but managed to defeat CAK.

Maryville defeated only three 6A playoff teams during the regular season, one 5A team that is still alive (West), 3A Alcoa who was WAY down this year and poor Knox Webb who finished 9-3 in DIIA.

Still trying to stir things up I see ... If Riverdale wins , we'll congratulate them , and probably cheer for them the next week .

Riverdale has played a much, much tougher schedule and will win this game.

The "gimpy" remark was tongue in cheek. MUS' strength was their defense. With 30 seconds left in the first half, Elder has 30 yards rushing and the game was scoreless. At halftime, Elder had 110 yards, EHS led 7-0.

Elder obviously is a game buster, a big play specialist. Congrats on Baylor's past success, but I suspect 3 (games) will be the charm for Corn. I watched the Baylor-MBA and Baylor-CBHS games and thus frankly am amazed that Baylor has slowed him down the last 2 games. I guess it's about "matchups."

For the record, Elder had a bad stomach bug for the Baylor game this season and was questionable whether or not he would even dress out for it. Regardless Baylor has done a great job defending him and even had he been healthy Baylor would have still won that game.

I want to see the 6A champ play the D2AA champ. My favorite matchup would be Maryville vs. Ensworth.....they share one common opponent in Knox Webb. Maryville beat them 30-7........Ensworth beat them 40-0. Both teams have multiple Division 1 FBS recruits.

Does Ensworth have a legal team? Not to condone what was said about them, but would they really go through the trouble of investigating this? I've seen alot worse things posted on coacht.

Ensworth has an obligation to protect those who are generous enough to make significant financial contributions to their institution. They will and yes retaining legal council as a part of these obligations are standard procedure for any private institution with millions of dollars in endowments and other assets.

You know, tracking an IP address to a physical location is not that difficult. And defamation of character is a civil tort. You might think twice before doing that again.

Wow good luck taking on Ensworth and or Tim McGraw's legal team. According to a source within the Ensworth family this is being investigated by the school and they lack no resources. Smart move buddy.

Blow us out huh? Did they blow us out last year? I know they are much improved, but so are we. I don't see a blowout happening and if they do i will be the first one here to eat crow and say job well done.

Blow past does not necessarily mean blow out. If you read my other posts I predicted this game to be won by Riverdale by 9 points. Not quite a blowout. Look at the poll thread. Oak Ridge is good but Riverdale is simply better and is playing at home.

The TSSAA is a disgraceful organization. They do not hold themselves accountable for the actions of those who represent them such as referees. They are like the landlord that takes advantage of an old woman by charging her too much for rent knowing full well there is nothing she can do about it.

Riverdales defense was that good tonight! a complete game from both sides of ball.

Congrats Riverdale!!!! I can not wait for you guys to blow past Oak Ridge so you can beat Maryville and show why the best football in the state is played in Rutherford County!!!!! Also shout out to still undefeated Eagleville HS our 1a representative from Rutherford!!

No sir... Actually, I said that Oakland had the athletes to compete with MJ. I've seen both teams play, and I knew MJ wouldn't blow their doors off. I've also seen the Stars play... MJ will absolutely destroy them. This is not a good matchup for the Seagulls.

Lol... Yeah cuz Gallatin, Hendersonville, Beech, and Station Camp didn't all win their 1st round games or anything.... I think there are only 2 teams that have a legit shot at beating MJ this year, and they are Blackman(with a healthy Mathers) and Maryville(Because they are the Boise St of 6A football). It wouldn't surprise me if MJ wins this by 4 or 5 td's.

Maryville played only 3 or 4 6a teams all year. Comparing 7AAA to Maryville's district is like comparing the SEC to Conference USA. Maryville has an outstanding quarterback but has about as good a chance of beating Blackman or Riverdale as Houston (Conference USA undefeated) beating any of the top 3 SEC teams (Bama, LSU or Arkansas)

After playing both teams, Brentwood has the edge in this one. Brentwood has too much size and speed on both sides for Ensworth.

BA will be disappointed at home. Look for Ensworth's D to shut BA down. Ensworth 17 BA 6

This is a crock and the coaches need to push it. Check the law, student led prayer is perfectly acceptable and furthermore just like the students, teachers do not have to check their freedoms at the door of the school house or anywhere else. Just like a prayer at the pole or any other type of religious activity as long as it is not initiated or led by the coaches they can participate. A teacher can be part of a bible study or religious club as long as it is student led. The school and anyone else who thinks different is wrong in this instance. A shame you cannot bow your head anymore with out a backlash!!

 

We need more young men and women stepping up and fighting for their freedoms. I went through high school and college in FCA led by faculty members. No one ever complained about it then. Our coach also led us in prayer prior to and after every football game. This was at a public school.

 

 

Christians are treated about how Black Americans were treated pre 1970's. I work in management and I am not allowed to work a 7th day Adventist on Friday nights or Saturdays. However, Christians are expected to work Sundays whether they like it or not, including me!! Not Right.

 

Now you can not pray, pretty soon Christians teachers will not be allowed to work in public schools. My mother is a teacher in Rutherford County (1st grade) she is not allowed to refer to her husband as husband. Things can get out of control, but Friday nights we can all relax and enjoy football and forget about it for 2 hours or so!!

Wow is right! How in the world did this Ensworth team lose last week the way they did at Baylor? Did you play your 100% freshman defense the entire game? I don't think Ensworth broke a sweat last night. BGA was dominated in every facet of the game with the exception of wide eyed intimidation which showed up early and often. The only silver lining for BGA is that they did not play anywhere near to their capabilities. It's time for a gut check on Earnest Rice Lane.

BGA definitely has the athletes to compete for a championship. I think they will finish up 7-3 with losses to Baylor and BA.

Ensworth will continue to get votes whether you like it or not.
