Hope both teams have good sportsmanship and a injury free game tonight, hope it is a barn burner.

I am expecting Mustangs to win this one in a mild upset.   I am glad to be having this game on the schedule as well, as we need some challenges and the district schedule is for most part lacking.  Hopefully the Mustangs jitters are over and they can hold onto the ball a little better.  They looked pretty solid against McKenzie just stay focused.

I agree that team has went from a good respectable team to a terrible team that just cant compete.  A better coach would help things a lot good luck to the Vikings talent hope if they got some skilled kids they can get a better coach that knows how to do high school football that can help them win games and maybe get a few of them looked at for a scholarship somewhere

As much a fan as I am for Kade Pearson, Willis is the player of the game by far, he showed out.  Great game Stangs keep it up, and fix the fumbling issues and you will have a great season.

I am here well first of all congratulations to the HMS Football team for winning the first game last night on the new artificial turf against of all teams Mckenzie.

They say history likes to repeat itself and well that saying will turn out to be true as the high school Mustangs will beat the rebels again on the same field 24 hours later.  I hope everyone enjoys the new football field I think it is beautiful and even though a little expensive well worth the money.  Only thing they probably shouldnt had redone the field house if they were going to get a new field and a new pressbox.

Mckenzie Rebels looked pretty amazing in their jamboree against Martin Westview last week.  Well Rebels we are not the Chargers so if u come out playing thinking we are like that you will get your tail kicked.  I do not think you are going to be big headed and are gonna be ready for this one as well however.  Mustangs need to work on their kicking game a little as well as that'll make a big difference in weeks to come and might tonight as well.  I think we have a pretty good football team this year and this season will last a good while as well if everyone stays healthy.  Got a younger team than some years but still a very talented group of players that just needs to stay focused and not get big headed.  Also Kade Pearsons final season as a Huntingdon Mustang is this year and I think this year will turn out to be a incredible one for him as well.  Here is a link on him in the jackson sun newspaper for anyone wanting to read about him, you will probably see his name in the media a lot this year.

It will be a good game tonight and it being the first game of the season there will probably be some mistakes by both teams whoever has more will be a key factor.  I dont know if I should post on here too much because not only do I think Kade Pearson is a great player, it being his senior year is making me a little more biased and I dont think I'll really offend anyone too much but I like ruffling feathers but if I talk on here this year I might be ruffling them a little more.

Anyway hope everyone has a good sportmanship tonight and both teams have a injury free game.  Also everyone be blessed and have a safe trip home.

is that outta a week 0 or with a 11 week system?  Keep it on topic some more I hope we got more non region games than 3 this year and our region is smaller then maybe we can play teams like Dresden, Westview, and Union City again.  I wouldnt mind having a 2 year playthrough with South Gibson as well, but would pick them prefer any of the other 3 first of course.

Thanks Kermit, your opinion always respected by me. Huntingdon and WC will be in the same region for the next four years along with Cwood, Perry Co, McEwen, Middleton and Bruceton. I believe that is the correct teams, I've had a brain lapse on Houston Co

Iyiyi, only care about playing you guys and Bruceton just cause the county rivalry and they sometimes get up to play us tough for 2 or 3 quarters they need more depth.  Well wildcat89 Huntingdon and Wayne County wont be the most exciting Region game next year, it might be McEwen vs Middleton, feel bad for knocking them just saying it way I see it n trying to state how it is fair for them to be in a region with 2 teams like us, thats not fair on them either. 

Appreciate the support Kermit. As far as the fireworks go, you know we don't really care what your opinion is of them. As stated many times before we started doing them about 5 years ago after a home win to try to get a tradition going. Our little town & our players love it. Huntingdon turns out every light in the gym & uses strobe lights like Thompson Boling Arena to do pregame introductions in basketball. In my opinion that might be a little excessive but hey.....that's what you guys do. We honestly didn't have many traditions going & that was one thing they've worked hard on. I'm assuming you haven't seen our run out either if you don't like the fireworks. lol Seriously though, thanks for the support from Huntingdon fans. We're hoping to play hard & take care of business Fri night. Happy Thanksgiving to you!!

I havent been to a basketball game in a long time, didnt know we did that however seeing as how the principal there once might still have a school record there it doesnt surprise me in the bit yeah we shouldn't do that.  I'll tell you what I think is ok and whats not in my opinion in high school games.  Ringing a bell after a game ok.  Mckenzies air horn thing ok, fireworks excessive, huntingdon bb preshow excessive, Milan playing who let the dogs out after a touchdown excessive and kinda sad they disrespect their band by doing that, if they played it after a game it'd be a bigger deal.  If u dont care for your band just dont have them at the game.  If u have a band there they are supposed to play if u get a touchdown not a cd.  Mckenzie buying inflatable balloons to enter football field waste of money with how much it probably cost but ok.  Camdens announcer yelling let me hear your lion pride after every play annoying but ok.  I do agree you should have some football traditions and believe it is good for the players and the community.  I just dont like the excessive ones.  I know it probably wont change and is what it is but wish you would come up with something a little more classy or use other teams ideas like Camdens lol.  Maybe you could play some Lion King songs after you win a game or are winning at end of the quarter or when u get a touchdown as I dont believe you have a band.

Yeah keep them inflatables too, some years I feel yall spend football practice jumping on them like you are at the carroll county fair instead of practicing for your upcoming game with us.

I'm picking Dresden to win this game this year as they were my preseason pick to go to state because of their talented quarterback.  This should be a close and great football game and this game could go either way because the Wayne County Wildcats got a lot of talent as well.  Both are great schools and I wish both teams the best of luck, and to whoever wins bring it home for the west in the state championship the week after.

Also Lion fans you know what I think about them fireworks however I have before said in m posts if you win semifinals and make it to the big game then that is the time to do it and I dont think it is excessive celebration then.

Wildcats you represented our region well, and even though I hate some of these other teams in our district mostly due to traveling and the depth of some of us compared to some of them, I heard we might stay in a region with u guys and I hope we do as well whether we get revenge or you keep winning quality opponents that give you a challenge is always good and prepares you more come playoff time and hey its just more fun to watch and more fun for the high school kids on the field as well.  Wouldnt mind being in a region with Dresden again either we'll just have to wait and see I guess.

Well this is a first usually (sometimes especially rivalry time I work people up all in good fun) the most respectful guy of the other team especially after the game win or lose congratulates the other team and wishes them good luck in everything else rest of the season.  Not doing that this time however I knew too many of our seniors this year that got robbed.  I dont mind losing but the way it happened it was apparent the referees were either paid off or didnt have any idea if they were officiating a football game or a basketball game.  Life is all about wins and losses, however, this years huntingdon mustangs had some great talent but not the best line.  However that line has improved a whole lot and the whole team should be playing one more week but are not, not because the other team was better or one or two bad call that happens.  It was because of worst officiating I ever seen.

Mustang Seniors thanks for giving you sweat and tears the last for years this town appreciates every one of you for representing Huntingdon.  Sorry it ended like this when you had at least one more week ahead of you.  Juniors, Sophmores, and Freshmen, keep playing and practicing hard we are all proud of you, and you keep improving.

Good Luck to Wayne County and Dresden rest of the season.  You are both well deserving and even though I argue with some of you sometimes in good fun especially the fireworks thing 4 dresden lol I like a lot of the posters from both your schools.  Good luck to BigSwo and the Union City team too keep fighting you not out till you out.

I think our O-line need to block better or it'll be real close Trousdale County might be looking for a new coach but they are a decent football team and not to be taken lightly.

 If we win will next weeks game Huntingdon or Nashville with fact we played 1 less game I think it would be at Nashville cause of percentage might be wrong just wondering if anyone knows.

I would love to agree with you but the problem is the world or at least our country WILL give you everything. Don't want to work We will give you a place to live , food , electricity , heck even a cell phone that last I checked wasn't a necessity. Without making this political my point being a lot of places have a harder time over coming that. BUT your absolutely right not everyone can always have the talent but if you can get coaches , kids , the school , and a community to work hard and be dedicated you will be successful no matter how big or small.

True if people would do that it'd be great but some communities dont worry about their kid and community which is another problem with the world and yes we babying people too much.  Especially doing cell phones.  Hoofbeat is talking about being a team that continuing blows the other team out its not doing you any favors either and hurts you come playoff time.  The regions are so big now you cant schedule but 2 or 3 good nonregion opponents either in most.

I for one absolutely hate blowout games. I will stay at home when I know we, UC, are on the road and I think we will blowout the team we are playing. But the single biggest reason that happens is because our kids work hard and dedicate themselves to the program. Now other people out there say it's because we are a large 1A school. I remember before Coach Bowling arrived when we were not the team we are now. We barely made the playoffs and when we did, we were out in the first round. Why? Because the coach at that time didn't allow full contact in practice. There was no tackling. No real hitting and on game night it showed up. For the last 9 years we have been different in practice and the evidence is there. We have had a couple of lean years in this stretch as well and have been knocked out of the playoffs by smaller 1A schools. It's not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog. Look what Coalfield did in 2014. They are one of the smaller 1A schools in the state and they played for the state championship. That same year Peabody was one of the smaller 2A schools in the state and they won the Title. It's how hard you work and strive to succeed.

I agree with u BigSwo I dont think hoofbeat wants the terrible teams to get participation trophies or anything I think he means he wants the football games to be more competitive.  Some of these teams realistically dont have the depth or care about their football program is part of it.

I say this the T$$AA has always been about the dollar and hoofbeat is right it is taking away from their profit.  If anyone from there goes on these boards that helps to vote on decisions or knows someone that does you could give them this idea.

What if for the smaller 1A schools you put seperate the bigger and smaller 1A schools that way the teams that dont have any depth to switch out have the same advantage and the schools that do have the same advantage.  And dont use the excuse well you'd have to travel more.  Everyone in our region we have now travels about 2 hours to most games anyways.  Also there is a 1a region in our area that has some schools about our size.  This can be done.  This would help the smaller teams in our region vie for a playoff shot which might give them some incentive to get better and play great which might help some of the talent get a local college to scout them.

Well we get to see some floats, I hope one of the classes tries to predict the final score again on their float, this year I thought whoever that one class was last year that had their score were gonna be right lol.  What time is the parade gonna be I'm off work that day might as well go to it.  It'll probably be more entertaining than the game.

I hear that!! A lot of people get on here just to intentionally piss people off! Truth be known, they could probably care less about football!! I wasn't trying to make Kermit mad by pulling for McKenzie, have friends there & makes our district look better when you beat an outstanding program like HHS! I have family in WC so I pull for you too!! We were bad for so many years I'm just enjoying the ride these days at the 'Ville! I even pull for Hardin Co & McNairy when they constantly bash us because it's all about the kids anyway!! Truth is we would rather be under the radar than the spotlight!! WC, HHS, U. City, Dresden all are great & know that being ranked, you either get a teams best shot at you or they come in believing they are already beat and the game is awful!! Polls don't mean anything, we all are fortunate to have great programs! Good luck to all you guys, maybe some of us can catch some breaks & make a good playoff run!! Let's enjoy some football now!!

are you talking about the 3a team that beat Huntingdon by 44.ain't that the same team that got mercy ruled by a 1a team last year.and usally gets mercy ruled in the last game they play in every year.

Not only did we Mercy Rule Milan we did it before halftime, as embarrassing as this years loss was the game wasnt out of reach at halftime of our game this year.

well how about Huntingdon and WC move up to 2A since you guys are so good and 2A is weak.  All this talk I expect a gold ball to come back with one of you come December. Anything can happen on any given Friday night.

I still think we wouldve had a great chance at getting a gold ball last year if we'd had a healthy team.  We had a great line and a bunch of weapons but when you got a 2 QB starting and they both go out it messes up your season.  We did great that year considering.  Do I think Huntingdon will get a gold ball this year, not right now plenty of football left our line still has some work to do, we fumbling too much, and we get too many penalties.  Can we improve all of that sure, will we I think so, that means we got a shot, we just gotta get through some other great teams to do it.  Kids need to keep playing hard coaches need to make them fix their mistakes and parent and fans need to keep supporting them, talking about every school when I say that not just mine.

I've always believed you gotta have a great team great skill and some good luck when you are in the playoffs so no one is gonna say officially they are going to get a gold ball unless they are lucky.  Usually final 4 and sometimes final 8 are great teams though.  You dont need to look ahead you need to look at your current opponent each and every week whether you are a great good bad or ok team, it'll help you improve.  

This board needs to close soon as both of us got other opponents to play.  Once again good luck to McKenzie rest of the season and in the playoffs, I think you guys have a good team, your quarterback is better than he played I seen the film on huddl.  Huntingdon had more drive because they got embarrassed and coaches made sure they were pumped and ready because of the rivalry and it is the only other good team we play till Wayne County.  Rebels dont be down and give up on your boys they can still make it far just gotta stay focused.

Just for fun though looks like the Huntingdon Mustangs might end up being be Carroll County Champions!!!!!    

I would love to have starters out another whole game but with the competition we got they will be out before halftime, in that since they might only get one quarter in some of these games, not bashing the other teams they just havent got the depth, and Huntingdon really needs some more experience than one half before we play wayne county.

Thankfully McKenzie had a good enough team our player got a full game, we still making too many penalties and mistakes, gotta get rid of the fatigue and cramps but when you dont play many good opponents and lose one of your only good ones it happens.  

Rebels I think you have a good team, Mustangs just had to come in and make a statement after getting embarrassed by Milan a few weeks ago and I wish you good luck rest of season.  Good luck in the playoffs too.  One more thing Kyle already did it but I am looking for some of  the rest of you to get a big serving of a Big Bird and the bird I'm talking about is not yellow.

You obviously didn't watch aville game but that's good I really hope y'all and everyone else base us off the 2 losses in a row. And as far as turnovers go don't really see that many in 5 games we have played and your special teams problems well kick it to 8 or 7 and yeah u will have problems for sure anyway I hope stanks think they come up here to mckenzie thinking they taking advantage of a team coming off 2 losses and not motivated ... If we lose I will eat my crow, now that thats been said I am wondering how your team is penalty wise.  Huntingdon makes too many in my opinion hoping that gets fixed some now that they've had a few games behind them.
