  1. Refs does not effect the outcomes of ball games. It is up to the coaches and players to adjust to whats being called. I used to tell my baseball players that every umpire is different and it's up to you to adjust to his strikezone. Same concept goes in football as well. Each crew of refs are different and are going to see different things on the football field, so it is up to the players and coaches to adjust to what is being called.

I can't speak about the WH LA game I wasn't there.

I heard there were bad calls both ways. With that said how do adjust to bad calls? I get baseball strike zones are certainly different for every ump, not sure how you adjust to bad football calls. What exactly is the adjustment?

  2. Hey Footballfan1266, was the DC your brother in law or did you just make it for the 2nd half. White House's

back was broke and in traction before the start of the 2nd half. What you missed in the first half was a very

good SC quarterback hitting his receivers in stride behind the defense at will, not to mention a blown coverage in the end zone for another touchdown. Our OC tried to open the game with passes like he used to do

with Wicker but QB not on target that night. Sounds to me like you just have a beef with the new OC and

maybe not his play calling. White House has two good quarterbacks and a good coaching staff. They will correct their mistakes and be back Thursday night. They are calling for rain and that means no passes and

alot of that staple three back set you like so much. I hope you enjoy the game!

This is what you took from my message? I think you missed the point. Either way,

A TD in that series would have put you within one score of a tie, even with the first half struggles... Don't blame the rain, that three back set is going down regardless of the weather.

  3. Funny you didn't mention the Station Camp game. I have no problem with QB, I'm just calling it as I see it.

Funny you didn't mention the beech game. You said the QB can't throw. Ya, I saw your post before the edit. Station Camp also not on SC's level. Beech more so, same result.

In the drive in my post the QB didn't get the opportunity to throw the ball so who knows...

I'm also calling it like I see it.

  4. I think its time for White House to go back with Wicker at QB. Clearly they are a better team with him as leader.

The only thing that's CLEAR is that WH played lesser competition when he was at QB. If you can't tell the difference between Greenbrier and Smith County its going to be difficult to have an intelligent conversation. If memory serves me correctly there were quite a few drops in that game too, care to comment on that? Or is your beef strictly with the QB?

  5. There are those in every crowd. I thought the OC called a decent game. Stuck with the run game that was very successful at times. Took several shots downdfield, that fortunately for SC, were just misses. WH also had a few drops in crucial situations. The OC can't catch them. The Blue Devils could be a hard out should they win this week and make it in. Best of luck from Big Owl Country.

My thing is this coming out in the second half The "D" makes a huge stand even stuffing the QB sneak on 4th and one. At a time when White House hadn't stopped them and the game is still within reach. The "O" jumps into their staple three back set and proceeds to run every play from that set until their stopped. I thought he was setting up the boot. Smith County was begging for it but it never came.I bet if the OC was being honest he'd love to get a do over on that one... That series broke White House's back, it was terrible and that's the truth.

Outside of that series the calls were routine and predictable. Draws and screens on third and long, run on first and second, pass on third. Everybody in Black knew what was coming all night that's for sure...

  6. Funny Tommy Boy just contradicted what he had previously said.

"There are rumors out there that Sequatchie County turned them in. We did not," Layne said. "The first I heard about it was a comment from [TSSAA executive director] Bernard Childress at the administrators' meeting on Sept. 22."

    Today it's

"All the involvement I had was to speak with Mr. Childress about what I had heard."

This is different than Childress making a comment to him. So yes now I am questioning his integrity.

Priceless... Still think those games are coming back?

  7. If it is "option C" and they beat Sequatchie next week then their overall record would end at 2-2 (2-0 in district). How would that affect them?

If it's "option B" and they get credit for beating ND and then they turn around and beat Sequatchie then their overall mark would end at 3-2 (3-0 in district). Would that be enough to jump Sequatchie County and earn an "automatic" bid into the Class 4A state playoffs?

TSSAA would pull something out of their bag o tricks to stop that from happening, but that's an interesting scenario for sure.

  8. I am dumb on this someone please fill me in as to what possibilities could come from this:

a.) If Signal Mountain wins the appeal altogether then what? Are they 7-2 (4-0)?

b.) If Signal Mountain wins the appeal for the Notre Dame game? Are they 2-2 (2-0)?

c.) If Signal Mountain loses the appeal altogether? Are they 1-2 (1-0)?

    Finally..........

If SM does beat Sequatchie next week and either scenario "b." or "c." is the outcome then how does that affect their playoff standing?

Appeal is scheduled for tomorrow (10-20-11).

    I'd bet on option "C"

  9. I'm amazed at some of the posts I read from Signal Mtn supporters. This whole smelly affair is laughable.

    1. Student attends (since 8th grade) Orchard Knob Middle, Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe (GA), Hixson, Howard, Brainerd, LFO (again) and now Signal. His home address: never changed. Always in Brainerd area.

    2. During same time period, Teacher-coach "mentor" teaches at Orchard Knob Middle, Sequatchie County, LFO and now Signal. He was not rehired in BOTH Sequatchie and Catoosa Counties.

    3. Somehow, this uncertified "teacher" miraculously gets hired in summer 2011 at the great Signal Mtn High School, the world-class school of excellence. I wonder if there were more qualified, certified applicants?

    4. By coincidence, just two weeks after LFO spring game in which student played, this uncertified "teacher" just happens to bring along this 6-3, 230 pound football standout, who "fears for his safety," and "can't get a good education" at LFO (an outstanding school with great test scores...but a not-so-great football program)

    5. The "teacher" goes to central office, requests and is granted a "hardship" for this athlete, I mean football star. School Board member for Signal Mtn. is Chip Baker, a Signal football parent.

    6. Two weeks after LFO spring game, student writes on his Facebook page, "I am going to Signal Mountain to play football." What? I thought it was about reading and math.

Meanwhile, the Signal faithful post on Internet boards that the student "is on track to graduate with honors from Signal Mountain." Which would come as a huge surprise to people at his previous schools, who say he rarely came to class, was usually tardy when he did come to school, and reportedly didn't earn many credits.

Frankly, it's hard for me to sympathize with Signal, for its brazen disregard of rules and sportsmanship, or this student, who despite being far more physically gifted than many inner-city students, has allowed himself to become a pawn of ill-advised parents, "mentors" and coaches, who have jeopardized his future. There are needy students with far fewer "mentors," advantages and supporters who will graduate in 2012 because they have attended their zoned school, showed up for class, and not tried to circumvent the rules.

This board is insane! Wanted to see what all the fuss was about... "Google is a wonderful tool Mr. Jinx"

This kid looks like he ate Eddie George! I'm not surprised that no one has replied to this post, its spot on.

  10. White House cannot afford to come slow out of the gate again this Friday. We must score early to get the old MO and keep the home crowd subdued. Playing from behind is very difficult especially away from home. And I don't mean going up by a FG! I think Heath Johnson will be a litle more relaxed and comfortable this Friday after not having played QB for nearly a month. The Devils gave a tremendous effort in the second half against GP and if we come out playing like that then we should have a happy drive back home. IMO WH 36- LA 24.

Id love to see 36 points, but porter thinks every time they score more than 30 points in a game a puppy dies...
