1. QUOTE(HHSnumber1fan @ Apr 7 2007 - 07:48 PM) 826432018How did Omar do in his soon to be new home???

The game was played in university of Maryland... Wattad is going to Georgetown, not exactly his SOON TO BE HOME... He played stellar defense... which is rare in an all star game... only attempted like 7 or 8 shots and scored 7. Not his best offensive game... but it seemed the effort to play team ball didn't exist (it was an allstar game folks.. don't put too much stock into these games).

  2. QUOTE(barb @ Apr 4 2007 - 08:32 AM) 826429538Still no word on a college choice for Wiggins?

same list... appy state. tulsa... ballstate... richmond... college of charleston... chattanooga...

  3. QUOTE(barb @ Mar 27 2007 - 01:35 PM) 826424019So any word on Wiggins college decision yet? I think he has way more potential at that level than Omar...nothing against Wattad, I think he is amazing. But I think Antwaine will be a better college player.

Wiggins has been in close contacts with Tulsa, Appy State, College of Charleston, Ball State to name a few..... he is going to be fine.... Wattad works well in the G-town system... they like passers, and taller guards.... he fits both molds.... .strength... he and antwaine both need strength....

  4. QUOTE(War Eagles @ Mar 24 2007 - 10:10 PM) 826421790The West was up for most of the game until the East came storming back late in the 4th quarter. Josh Sain had a chance to win the game for the West, but he missed a wide open dunk with about ten seconds to go. Oglesby was solid with some great assists. Wattad I believe will not play much at Georgetown at all.

Wattad had 9 points and 9 assists on 4/9 shooting... he also had the game winning assist to Wiggins when the west team sent 3 guys towards him. Unselfishly (something you can always say about Omar) he gave the ball up and wiggins scored. Kyle Groothius also had 25 points, mostly layups at the end of breaking the press. Wattad also had 4 rebounds.... Oglesby finished with 6 points and 7 assists... I don't see how you can say Wattad won't play at Georgetown after seeing him play. He may not dazzle but he does what he must to get the W. Good job EAST

  5. QUOTE(Coniglio @ Mar 7 2007 - 05:34 PM) 826403852So you're saying TO is going to drop at least 30?

The game is going to come down to post play. Maryville owned SHHS because the tallest post on the hill was 6'4". Bradley should be able to handle the inside with Dodd and Groothius. Oglesby will do Oglesby just like Wattad did Wattad... it is the REST OF THE GUYS that will make the diff. Bradley by 6. By even more if Groot and Keith can put up numbers and/or limit the effectiveness of the tight-end/center.

  6. QUOTE(tseals31 @ Feb 26 2007 - 11:04 AM) 826389856Science Hill definitely has more talent and will blow out Tennesse High if they are allowed to run and gun, however Tennessee High plays a very, very slow methodical style of basketball and won with it in the district. Whichever team can impose their will and control the tempo of the game will win. Tennessee High is heavy on heart and Science Hill is pretty loaded, should be a good game. ...Science Hill by6 or more.

if its in the 40's TN HIGH WINS... above the 40's SHHS wins....

  7. QUOTE(DBGRAD70 @ Feb 20 2007 - 09:00 PM) 826381764From one coon skin cap to another, I was there. #21 was going out of his way to try to do physical damage. It should have been stopped by the officials. Trying to do physical damage and playing physical are most definitely two different things. I didn't see 1 incidence of DB players doing anything but playing physical. Sorry Boonie. Daniel has spoken.

The DB vs. TN High game is anybody's game. If DB is as hot as most of their recent games, DB wins by 20. If they are as cool with their shooting as they were last night (apparently suffering from frost bite), TN High just might take it. Watch the warm ups. You can tell the mood of the team watching that.

Is #21 that albino looking kid?

  8. I stay on PT because he accuses officials of deliberate bias not because he makes excuses. I cannot argue that Omar had the better game but after watching both in the Arby's Classic, I am not quite ready to say Omar is the better player.

Wattad is the better player... AT THIS TIME.... Wiggins has a huge upside potential but he has not tapped into that as a legitimate Wing/Forward at the High major level. He is not quick enough to guard smaller players... and he is not strong enough to muscle the big men... he's what scouts call a "tweener"...

With Wattad you know what you get...

he isn't going to provide the length that Wiggins does, but you know who he can and can't guard...

too many questions with Wiggins, wattad is the more ready player AT THIS TIME...

that doesn't mean i think Omar will have a better college career... antwaine's potential is FAR GREATER than Omar's, but he hasn't tapped into it to the extent that Omar has tapped into his.... understand my point?

  9. I hope you get the opportunity to see Antwaine play again when he doesn't have the flu. He is a much better player than his performance in the SH game.

I agree.. Antwaine is much better than what we saw from him, but don't use his sickness as an excuse... a lot of his difficulties that night were due to Wattad's exceptional play. SO yes don't let that game be the basis for how you judge antwaine as a player... but do factor in Omar's play as a substantial reason as to why Antwaine struggled like he did.

  10. QUOTE(DBTeepee @ Feb 11 2007 - 04:35 PM) 826367512

I have to agree with you on that one. If both teams had the same record and split during the regular season I would call them co-champions but with the exact same records and a sweep by DB, you have to call the Indians Big 9 CHAMPIONS!!! For the record, if it were Science Hill with the sweep, I would call them champions. You've got to give credit where credit's due.

i agree... but as stupid as it seems... for record keeping purposes they are listed as co-champs... the real place it matters is the seeding for district and that, without any dispute, belongs to DB as the number 1 seed. So, hats off to DB and SHHS for winning 13 and losing 3... double props to DB for giving SHHS 2 of those 3 losses.

  11. I think Wattad had 11 going into the 4th qtr tues. night. Sensabaugh did a great job of defending him. Wattad was very frustrated and was even having trouble hitting foul shots. Morgan backed off the pressure in the 4th. qtr. and thats when Wattad got hot. Morgan almost let Science Hill back in the game.

Wattad had 18 at DB (prior to getting elbowed in the head) and he finished with 20 at the palace. The real stat is everyone else on the toppers can't seem to throw a grape in the ocean when they play DB. True, Coty did slow wattad down, and frustrate his game, but NO support = NO win for the toppers. GOOD TEAM effort by the INDIANS (emphasis on TEAM)

  12. Wattad could have gone out there and started jackin from everywhere. Rather, he gave his teammates the ball and was extra unselfish to the point where Topper head coach Ken Cutlip had to tell Omar to shoot more. He ended the game with 14 pts 9 asts and 9 rebs. Just an amazing amount of maturity to realize that the team matters first. Although the Toppers have been inconsistent this year; I saw a wind in their sales tonight that might just get them to Murfreesboro. They got back to playing hard and unselfish.

Oh by the way, Wattad now has 2193 points in his career and passed Jovann Johnson's previous record of 2188. CONGRATULATIONS OMAR

  13. QUOTE(Floor_General22 @ Feb 8 2007 - 02:36 AM) 826363056

Its not an MVP award. Its Player of the Year. And thats why Coty will robbed of it. They will hand it to Wattad like they have planned since day one, its already bought and paid for just like his place on the G-town team. Thats how basketball is in this area. Alot of times its not how good you are, its who you are.

Congrats to DB!!!! You have to give credit where credit is due. After the way they started alot of people including me didn't give them a chance to win the conference. Shows what heart and determination can accomplish.

That's why Gabe Buchannan? was Co-mvp last year. I don't think they do that, otherwise they would have given it to Omar last year outright. Gabe played phenomenal so he got a share. Nothing wrong with that.... plus the bought and paid for comment is innaccurate.... Wattad is going to be on schollie, and that L.O.I will be signed in the spring. (verbal in the fall, keep options open, nothing better sign in the spring....) so I think he earned his spot on G-town...that is UNLIKE how basketball is in this area (name all the D1 signees in the Big 9 hoops world in the last 10 years... how many high majors?). Hats off to DB on the win, but don't discredit Omar's whole season and career because of the loss, not fair to the individual.

  14. QUOTE(DBGRAD70 @ Feb 7 2007 - 11:03 PM) 826362917

I am in no way knocking Wattad for being the star of his club. I'm just saying that Morgan will not let a "star" mentality develop. He would not have let it develop even if Coty had been "online" the entire season. If Wattad were at DB, nobody on the team nor Wattad himself would have considered Wattad to be a star. As you say, the team would accept him because they would consider him to be just another member of the team. Its all about team with Morgan - and thats a very good thing.

    Agreed

  15. QUOTE(DBGRAD70 @ Feb 7 2007 - 07:30 PM) 826362580

Charlie Morgan doesn't want a star player on his team. He's said that to the press. Maybe its this kind of situation he's trying to avoid. He may have gotten a late start this year, but Morgan has built a team.

I think Coty being hurt inadvertantly helped Coach Morgan NOT have a star on his team. I don't think the Toppers had a choice. IF OMAR wasn't a star player they WOULD BE MEDIOCRE at best. DB is a much deeper team. I don't think Coty is a better individual player than Omar, but I think his supporting cast is FAR BETTER than the guys at SHHS. Answer this hypothetical: Which team would do better, SHHS or DB IF you traded Omar for Coty. I don;t know. I think DB would do better with Omar than SHHS with Coty. NOT because OMAR is SO MUCH better, but because the guys at DB would support OMar, where as the guys at SHHS wouldn't support Coty. I feel bad for Wattad, If he was at greeneville, you have a state contender. If he was at DB you have a state contender. You put him on SHHS, they might contend in region. the problem isn't wattad, or his attitude, or his sportsmanship, the problem is NO TEAM in shhs

  16. What is up with SHHS? Not knocking DB, but how can a team blow out the number 1 team in the state (Greeneville at the time), and then not even be able to keep it close against the Indians. A lot of credit is due to DB, most of it even, but, SHHS is not consistent when it comes to playing hard, or shooting well. How do they fix this UP and DOWN tendency. In the postseason you have to play well, for AT LEAST 6-8 games if you want to make it to state. I haven't seen them put together a streak of longer than 5 when they are really playing well and together.

    What is the solution?

  17. QUOTE(hessforprez @ Feb 5 2007 - 06:05 PM) 826359558

Maybe you guys should watch the video. Wes was kicked in the crotch and then his ankle was grabbed by Baker. Thats what led to Wes kicking Baker. In no way would Wes purposely foul. Wes is a great shot blocker and blocked that shot as well.

unfortunately that vido hasn't been "You tubed" and referenced over 20 times, unlike another person's supposedly "unsportsmanlike" video

    double standard?

    No way!

  18. QUOTE(Burnt @ Feb 3 2007 - 12:09 PM) 826356918

Oglesby, Wiggins and Wattad all played for the same AAU team...If you saw them play then there should be no doubt who the best of the three is...It's Oglesby, and it's not even close. I haven't seen Maurice Miller play so i can't comment on him

Out of those 3 i give the edge to Oglesby on consistancy of shooting. Wiggins for potential, and Wattad on defense and versatility. Oglesby's only disadvantage is his size and lateral quickness. Wiggins has the most potential but the least ready of the 3. Wattad's knock is limited athleticism and inconsistency in 3 pt shot.

this year to oglesby, but he does have Dodd and Grothius on his team. Neither wiggins nor wattad has a big like that.

  19. QUOTE(BobSegar @ Feb 3 2007 - 11:58 AM) 826356907

Sensabaugh will guard Omar, and is just as good a defender as Sylvester is. Coty is who guarded him when they matched up at DB and did a nice job on him.

Coty's best defensive play of the game btwn the hill was when he accidently elbowed Omar in the eye and took him out of the game for 4:30 seconds. It cooled Science hill off, and they never got back on track. If the Indians take care of the ball they can beat the toppers, but I'm not going to say that any 1 defender can stop Omar by himself. If I'm trying to beat the hill, I let omar get 20 plus and make sure no one else beats us...he's too good of a passer to double down on too often.
