  1. Central early in the 4th qtr one of your players was upset and getting "chipping". Doing some pushing and shoving and mouthing off a little. It happens these are still just kids. Your #11 got in front of him and told him on shut up and play football. Tremendous respect for that. I love when players and teammates police themselves. Speaks well of the players, coaches, and probably the fan base too. Good luck the rest of the way.

  2. I actually was on a 9th grade team that didn't get beat if you can remember that.Hate the desire to play left me after my 10th grade year, but that happens.Baseball for the Devils ended up being my last sport but now days watching a machine like Greeneviile has is really fun and these young men will never see a 2-8 year like we had in my 10th grade season for sure.

  3. I know of zero kids that drive an hour to go to Greeneville. I can think of two that are tuition paying students but they live in Greene County and are perfectly legit. That hogwash started a few years ago with W.C. I've had people tell me guys were just coming in to play that I know have been in school with my daughter since 1st grade.

  4. I will be the first to admit there have been (are) some very obnoxious Greene Devil posters on here but don't paint us all with the same brush. Most of us have been quiet because we are trying to figure this version of the Devils out.

This team is good and getting better. Offense has seen a tremendous change from last year but it is starting to sink in for the players. The line is good and getting better. Coaches have been playing musical chairs with the running backs but I think they have come up with a good combination. The big question mark has been at qb. Harrison is learning fast and getting better every week. He is new to the job. I don't mean new to starting, this is his first year ever playing qb.

Defense is playing tough and making strides. A lot of new faces on the field but they are playing well. The loss to Morristown West was full of penalties and mental mistakes.

Back to the point of this thread, I don't see anyone playing with Fulton right now. That includes 4a and 5a, maybe even 6a.

  5. I see that a couple of these lists have Greeneville as top two or three. I am a Greeneville fan but I'm not sure we will have that good of a year. The Devils lost 5 starters on each side of the ball. All the big playmakers graduated. We have some up and coming guys that are going to be good but I believe we are a year away.

From what I saw last year I expect Fulton, Elizabethton, and Sullivan South to be very good. I know nothing about the teams west of Knoxville.

  6. None are open zoned

I was just wondering.  No heartache with it if they were.  Greene County has 5 high schools and all are open zoned.  Most just go to the one they live nearest too.  Some commute because of parents work place, etc....and of course everybody likes to claim GHS recruits, which is bull, but hey all have a right to their opinion.

  7. Ya need a little reading comprehension there Ktown.  We said we were not intimidated by your mighty Falcons. Nobody from Giles expects anything but a 4 quarter game. i know that's a little out of character for them Birds but we DO think we can hang around a while. I seriously doubt we could one up them Devil fans. We don't jump on logos nor do we disrespect any foe but we will put a helmet on ya. ..... :ugeek:

Just lost a lot of respect for you.  I have always enjoyed your posts and insight into the game.  Commenting on actions you weren't present for can often lead to misjudgements and misunderstandings.  Both Fulton and Greeneville teams and coaches knew and understood the situation and none of them have any heartache about it.  Only those in the peanut gallery who saw a portion of a video.  I guess you think Wonder Woman actually has an invisible plane

  8. You signed up to make this post?  It is over and done with, the green team did it, and then got their butt whipped by what is shaping up to be a team that is not what it was earlier in the year.  If that is the way your kids want to act, so be it, that is about what people expect from them anyway.  Personally, I would have rather my team showed that they were too focused on the task of winning the game to pay attention to what the other team was doing, and come out and make a big fool of themselves. Just my opinion though.

As a Devil fan that spent well over half the game on the sidelines I would like to make a few comments.

I am 100% sure that "this year" the Falcons are the better team.

I am 100% sure that the jumping and screaming at mid-field not only looked foolish, it was foolish.

I am 100% sure that it never even occurred to the players that they were on the Falcon.  They were there because that is were the Falcon football team was.  It was a poor attempt to show that they were fired up and ready to play too.  I also don't think the Falcon players had an issue with it because of the way they handled themselves and the game.

Falcon's field they have every right to take center stage to pump up themselves and their crowd.

I too would have preferred the Devils simply turn their backs and continue their warm up.  As I recall from a long time ago Emmitt Smith was asked why he doesn't dance or spike the ball when he scores.  His answer was "Coach told me to act like I had been there before"  We (I say we because I am former Devil player and have other ties to the school) didn't act like we had been there before.  Instead of psyching out the Falcons we did it to ourselves.

I am a huge fan of the team and the coaches.  I have nothing but respect for the job they are doing on and off the field.  If this is the worst mistake we make, we've got it made.

  9. It's been a long time since I have read, much less commented on anything on coacht.  First off, people that have started this thread need to step back from the ledge.  We have a great coaching staff at DB and if people truly knew how much time and effort these coaches put into this program they would not say a darn word about any of them.  These are high school coaches, not college, not professional- High School.  They are not getting paid anywhere close to fair for the amount of time they put in.

Secondly, Cathouse- don't even try and compare Greenville to DB

I think the Greeneville and DB programs have a lot in common.  Both are in conferences primarily filled with schools smaller than them.  Both have budgets that are much larger than any of their conference competition.  Neither really knows what they have until they reach the playoffs because of their relatively weak schedules.

You already hired away our Director of Schools, might as well go after the football coach.

  10.  Game was a wash with Rollins.  Two very good teams, neither of which will be crippled by losing just one player.  Winner is team that controls their emotions and plays smart.

Love the Devils but I will give Fulton the respect it deserves.  Good school, good kids, and good football team.

How is Rollins?  Not injured badly I hope.
