We met a year ago and I must say you are correct that you are misunderstood on here. I found you to be a kind person who is just trying to do what's best for your family. I too am a Marine. I take great pride in it. However, being a Marine does not make me a better teacher, mentor, coach, husband or father. Being a Marine helped me go to college and make good grades unlike I did in high school. It gave me discipline to stay in shape, eat right, and follow USMC leadership traits that I do try to instill into players I coach and students I teach. It taught me to persevere and have tact and bearing when I got "non-renewed" It changed me for the better.

The best teacher I had was a man named Stanley Moss. He talked funny, walked funny, never served his country, and I guarantee you he never once lifted a weight. However, he challenged me. He made me believe I was more than a jock. He encouraged me to write. He also showed up for most all athletic events that happened in our school, not because he gave a flip about sports, but because he knew it meant a lot to students who saw him there. He earned our respect. When I enlisted in the Marine Corps., he was the first to congratulate and thank me.

 

I learned to coach by listening to coaches who were better than me, not from humping 30 miles at Camp Pendleton through the mountains or from seeing a man die. I learned to stay out of cover 3 vs. 2X2 by having 4 verts thrown on me for 5 TD's in a 20 minute California passing league and a Veteran coach counseling me by saying, "Less is more". I became a better coach when I used the old Marine Corps. trait of delegation and trust in those I work with. You and I both know a Marine is never short on confidence and is usually far from humility. As an infantry Marine, you have to be that way. Everything you do relies on those qualities being in place. However, I had to learn the hard way that once you go back to the civilian world I needed a crash course in being a diplomat.

 

I've met you and I think I have a good idea of your heart. You are definitely a great person and I respect you and all you've been through. Message boards, unfortunately, don't reveal who people really are and once you post something it stays there.

 

To the other posters, let's not beat a dead horse. The man you speak of is a man who has served his country and has many scars to prove it. Thanksgiving is two days away. Devil Dog, I am thankful for you. I am thankful for your service and for your being a great husband and father. I am thankful that I live in a country where people have the freedom to write how they feel on a message board. I am thankful for the people on this board who have reached out to you. I am thankful for the grace of God that enables me to see what your feeling because I was in the same place not long ago.

Every team no, the ones that matter, yes. Oh by the way, saw East Hamilton up close and personal a few weeks back. Giles will have to change their colors to black and blue if they ever meet them. OC's finesse would turn to a mess.

By the end of the first quarter, the Hurricane faithful will be heading back over the hill reminescing over the season and looking forward to next year.

 

There has been so much mention of schedules, the only quality team you faced during the regular season was Oltewah and their win over you is the only quality win they had. They lost 3 in a row to better teams they play....just throwin that out there.

You do realize the connection that EH and Ooltewah have right? Thats just one of those games that will be a toss up more times than not. The schools literally area a left and a right turn away from one another depending on which parking lot your coming from. Besides Both are in the third round of the playoffs in bigtime TN football. I've seen every team in your District play for you to compare Giles Co. success to the number of teams in the playoffs is not very impressive other than the fact that they didn't lay down to anyone.

Heres the Truth and I'll give it to you with no lube "since you like it rough" Compared to Giles every team on your schedule was not very good(no offense). Down right out matched in nearly every posistion. And I'm not hating on that, when you got the Dogs let them loose every play. So pure physical intimidation gave you an edge lining up. Second, EH district haha compared to this team.... a Joke, not to offend anyone just sayin. also since the real season starts after week 10 anyway lets just get a grip on things. When adversity does strike and it will... over and over and over again on Friday night with these 2 defenses going, and I'm not being Team specific there either... who is going to know how to respond. Do the box scores say anything about how Your team will respond. Like the little man says, these are 15, 16, 17, and 18 year old guys playing on the biggest stage of their lives, I would imagine.

I'm honestly shock to see so many Giles fans predicting what their team will do when they have never encountered anything like it this year . Another team just as big, just as fast, just as athletic, taking it to them... And yeah yeah you practice against them every day. You can simulate the Big Stage bro, but hey what do i know i only have 35 post

weather here in giles county is cold and rainy. after watchin film of east hammy, coaches told the boys to just take the day off,didn't see anything on film that was very urgent .oh well, thats why they make the big bucks !

Well now I'm just stumped. First you want respect, now you see right through me.... I'm starting to really question you're gender, my first wife had the same complex

EH was obviously the better team...would have liked to see Page run the ball more, especially on the edges. Throwing the ball every down made for several real quick 3 and outs and put too much pressure on the defense-but they never gave up. We had several passes dropped early that would have been nice gains, but it is what it is. EH vs Giles should be a good game but I see the Bobcats winning due to superior balance on offense and better defense. Put the ball on the ground against them like Friday night and it could get ugly.

I agree. Giles is pretty stout i dont see them having trouble defensively at all. They do what they do and they do it well. Should be a good one to make the trip for in my opinion, i dont find out until Thursday if i can go or not. But Hopefully everyone will get their moneys worth. I saw them on film Giles is good, and what makes them even more dangerous is the fact that they know it.

Let’s get something’s straight, we do not need anybody from anywhere to talk smack for us! We carry our own load. We know very well that your place is special, and not just because of this year. Giles has built the tradition over the years….. Heck places like Giles is what makes HS football what it is.

Rock at one time your school was right where we are at…. You had to make that big splash to get to that next level. Well this is our time to make that splash, nothing is more important than this game, it’s our shot. Our guys have worked very hard, and will prepare for this game…….. Now we could just make a drop and not a splash, if so this will be a learning experience for the many, I mean many Jr and Soph on this team.

There are no excuses it is what it is……… you beat us we will shake your hand and give you your props. If we win we will shake your hand and still give you props……. But we will show up Friday and play very hard and will not give up till the horn blows.

For all my East Ham brothers on here talk smack if you want but do it with a little class……. For the fake East Ham folks , it’s a shame you got to use our name to get back at Giles.

Just to clear up the smack talking, maybe i have a guilty conscience but my only proclaim was that it wouldnt be a blow out. Yes Giles stands head and shoulders over any other team that EH has faced. In a twisted way if you take the strong suits of every team EH has faced and put them all together you have Giles Co. And boy thats awesome! Cant want to see this thing go down. Does EH have a chance to pull off the upset, yes. Is Giles Capable of Being beat, as is any Football team on any given night.... Ask Nick Sabin. The Confidence is awesome from both sides. It makes for some really good football. Guys this isnt going to be a blow out on either Side. Both teams look good on Film on the defensive side of the ball. As far as the smack talking.... Best Coaches in the State.... Giles will blow out EH.... Hurricanes will Fizzle.... the best coach in the country just got beat Saturday, Blowout, if you would have told me Giles has blown out everyone on their schedule I still wouldbt believe you, and Hurricanes fizzling? Its a good thing that place is Made of bricks because its gonna be a good night of Friday night football.

 

Out of 12AA, a Marshall team, that I still don't think is grasping the idea of what to do with the ball. And a Page team that was ok but in my opinion was overrated. If you go into this game thinking your playing a Page, it'll be 35-0 at halftime. Better tell your guys to tie those cleats tight, and tape'em on. Baker, among others, has some moves.

I never said they were thinking Giles is Page, i just answered your question bud. Its a no brainer theyre not Page or Marshall theres just one #1 team. EH just wants their shot at them like theyve been saying from day one.

I think it was the 2009 team that won the state this giles team is a whole lot better they beat us 48 -0.,could have scored 75 points thank goodness 4 junior varsity

East ham I will give you a rundown of what you are fixing to face .on the offense side of the ball they're tackles are very good page tackles are below average Giles Center is a stud.page center average at best Giles guard very good I thought pages guards were very good Giles guards are bigger .I cannot compare their quarterback to ours because ours had an off night .so I will compare him Signal Mountain Qb the kid signed with Kentucky Giles Qb is it a whole lot better .pin Point accuracy has all the right touches on his passes and a very good runner 1 of the best I have seen in years. giles

receivers all them are better then what you faced last night page receivers catch the ball then fall down don't like to be hit .Giles receivers catch the ball then run you over Giles strategy on offence is a heck of a lot better than page they have it all running and throwing on the D-fence ,there's no comparison even page tackles both of them for the first time all year play defense looked pretty darn good but page line backers could not tackle very well last night page number 33 played hard as he could been injured with a bad ankle sprain .Giles linebackers bigger faster more physical and do not tackles where. Page defense backs are soft and cannot tackle at all Giles kids will lite you up Giles defense cordinator is very very good page defensive coordinator is very very bad .1 other note page receivers drop 3 passes and all 3 would touch downs that is not going to happen with Giles. Film doesnt lie my friend. They drop passes. And yes they are Athletic but apparently in this high and mighty 12AA district u guys proclaim to be so superior Giles is the only team with a decent set of DBs so pin point accuracy as far as hitting a guy streaking across the middle or butt naked down field he is spot on. They have a guy that can run after the catch.... as does most teams but he is also prone to putting it on the ground. Gile QB like i said is their strong suit... doesnt make very many mistakes smart, takes what the defense gives him. A true blessing for any coach to have. But i think its safe to say this will be the best defense has seen all year. So This blow out prediction i keep hearing is just dumb to say. And dont talk to me about 3 dropped touchdown making it a closer game against EH. If you cant win a game with a team putting it on the ground 5 time those 3 drops become obsolete. Personally there is no excuse for a fumble ever. But in a strange way I think that whole 5 turnover scenario works out in EHs favor. Those guys have never been faced with the opportunity of being "the guy" and honestly i give them a D, C- at best. Are they capable of learning from last night performance and getting it fixed. I think so. Will Giles blow out EH? surely those Irish pints ur guys were sipping last night has worn off by now. Take the Page film for what its worth.... and you can. Say well if you turn the ball over 5 times against Giles it will be a blow out.... uhhhhh duh!!! If you turn the ball over 5 times against any decent team it should be a blow out for anyone, everyone knows that. 35-14 or 48-0 the better team won on Friday. Lets not look to much into scores would ya.... not to knock Fairview, but a 3AA team put up 14 and held them to 24, starters on the field or not everything has weaknesses including Giles defense including EHs

umm al cobb has over 2000 yards passing. and close to 1000 rushing. GC doesnt just pass. lol u have no idea. better hold on the ball. cuz i promise if u turn it over 5 times to giles that will be 5 more tds for them. Just be humble and eat crow after the game. Did i say GC only Passes? All i said is you have to have a run game to beat EH, Your Precious little Al Cobb isn't someone I would use at the expense of establishing that. Just like Al there are some guys on that Canes Defense that will play on Saturdays too. So things might get pretty interesting once the bullets start flying and bodies are on the floor. How District 12AA does what? Gets one good school a 3 years that has an attempt to make a run...? Its safe to say Giles runs 12AA seeing as they are the only team thats going to make it a good game for EH.

Town. The Bobcat offense will pick you apart with the precision of a surgeon and The Bobcat Defense will bring the power of a 100 ton nuclear weapon, being set off in the backfield every play. Blame EH for Scheduling a Pretty Legit 5A school who Handled Lenoir City tonight btw and I would say That Number one spot would be a tie if not the Advantage to EH. If that same team turns the ball over 5 times vs giles its a wrap seriously. giles had two ints and three blocked field goals tonight your team struggled with page plain and simple bring it! But in all Honesty Page didnt play with EH. Take away 2 or 3 plays where i believe EH over ran the ball and Page has less that 100 yards on Offense total. Lets not "wrap" anything just yet gorgeous
