  1. Great idea Charger999, you should talk to Coach Goodin and see if he would do that. I think he would. I think this group of Juniors will stick with it and add a few more. Heard something through the grapevine today...............fingers crossed and I'm not talkin. If it is true, then just wait til next season!
  2. This one will go to the team that gets momentum first! Anotherback said it right. Polk's "slow to start offense" will get them behind. I say CAK 14 Polk 0 after 1st, then ends up around CAK 34 Polk 20, with those two opening scores the difference. If polk scores first after stopping CAK's attack, then LOOK OUT! It will be a very different game. OL' MO has a lot to do with this one!
  3. Went to one Football game this year and I like the way the guys played. Truth is, Central IS a young football team, whether you want to face facts or not. 2009- Senior Overload; 2010 - Freshman Overload; 2011- Freshman/Sophomore overload. That is only two years in a row, not 3! I think Charger999 was right, got to keep these kids interested in Varsity sports their Senior Year. Next years team has a ton of key Seniors that need to lead this team. If this team stays together and the kids come back, then look for next season to be much better. A coaching change, imo, would hurt our chances next year. The problem, in my experience, with McMinn Central Football has been coaching attrition. Nobody stays long enough to have a true "football program." If you look, when coach Derrick left, that hurt! When coach Wilkerson left, that hurt! When coach Sanders left, that hurt! When the offense changed philosophies in 2010, that hurt! Much better philosophy this year from what I've heard, this offense almost gave Central its first 1000 yard rusher in 16 years? (correct me if I'm wrong) The kid was hurt in the first quarter of Sweetwater game. If not, he breaks the 1000 yard mark then. Why in the world would you want another coaching change? If you say, well they're horrible coaches, then tell us what you would have done different. I like the fact that Central WAS competitive all year. The improvement from Freshman to Sophomore year looked, from one game, to be very good. Next year Central looks to be loaded with Sophomores/Juniors with some Senior playmakers and a good freshman class. Should be a fun few years folks. If this coaching staff can not win with what they have coming into next year, then I would have to agree that it is coaching and change should happen.
  4. Glad that I got to come home Friday Night to watch the Chargers. I am proud of all the Seniors! I have to say that the Chargers looked much improved from last season. I saw a lot of YOUTH out there last night on both sides of the ball and that is exciting. Several players I've never seen before. Is this because of injuries? depth? I may have to go to Stone Memorial next week! I wish they could have won this game for the Seniors. The injuries seemed too hard to overcome. Pray for little #5, he looked impressive til he got hurt. PS: Seniors, I know you read this board. I've been in your shoes. I know how it feels to lose on Senior Night. It sucks! You have got to keep your head held high because you are a Charger...do not forget that. Do everything you can to make your program better. Always talk well of your school and its players. Do not be a complete moron and talk down about your alma mater......ever! Go out next Friday and end your career on a high. I'll be jealous because my senior ended with a loss and trust me, you won't forget that. Start a winning streak Friday. I should be there cheering you on! I'll leave with this quote: "Anyone can support a team that is winning – it takes no courage. But to stand behind a team to defend a team when it is down and really needs you, that takes a lot of courage." Bart Starr
