  1. What do you think would be the outcome of a game between these two state Champs?

I think CAK could score but not enough. I think Greeneville would wear them down over 4 qrts.

I would go with a final of 31-17, Greeneville. I know Alcoa had thier hands full with the "Big Green" and CAK had to solid/close games with them.

  2. Simple answer to the problem, because there is a real problem between private schools, open zone tuition public schools, (really semi private), and true public schools that do not allow out of zone tuition students.

Put all the private schools in one league with with open zone tuition public schools. The other league would be made up of public schools that do not allow out of zone tuition students. That would solve the private schools complaining about having to travel too far to play other private schools. The would just be playing other semi private schools. The real teams that suffer because of the T$$AA are the public schools that do not accept out of zone students tuition students. If these public schools that accept out of zone tuition students want to keep playing in the public league don't let those students participate in athletics. Do the statistics, how many public schools that are not open zone tuition schools win championships, especially in class 2A thru 6A.

How many of this year teams are Open Zone? I think two are private schools CAK and Friendship, so of the other 10 how many would be OZ?

  3. OK, I'll bite.

Privates who play in D1 have 2 primary distinctions.

    1. They cannot give scholarships to help offset the cost of going to a private school to any athlete participating in a TSSAA sanctioned sport. This applies from Cheerleading to Football.

    2. When determining what size class the team plays in (1A, 2A, etc) the D1 privates have their high school enrollment multiplied by 1.8. This causes D1 privates to play against public schools that have a much larger enrollment.

For those who don't know, D2 privates don't have either of the above 2 issues to contend with, but they play in their own private school division.

Do you think they will change the multiplier next time they set the classes? IMO the 1.8 is to high. If they want to "punish" private schools I think 1.5 would be enough. I just hope they do not raise it.

  4. First off...congrats to CAK for your first state title game and victory! If my Dawgs have to tote the silver back to the west, I'm more than proud that your team gets to make their first trip back up the mountain with the Gold! I pulled for y'all many times against Alcoa because of families ties at CAK. So congratulations Warriors.

With that being said...this is NOT the team I have watched the past few weeks...but it's the team that showed up today. Unfortunately, I think the loss today was a complete and utter coaching failure! I'm beside myself as to why we wait until the fricken state championship game to try to be a passing offense! Blows my mind...

I know the haterz are gonna hate...but the way I look at it...y'all didn't even get a door prize for your efforts! So I'll gladly tote my silver ball back to the west...and proudly decorate my purple and white tree with silver balls!

As far as private vs open zone vs public...doesn't really matter because Milan is gonna play whoever, whenever and give it their all! Tradition NEVER Graduates...and something Alcoa...CAK...not even Maryville can say is that they have the tradition of Milan! 29 consecutive years of being in the Tennessee state playoffs....after next year we'll make that 30! So until next year...BullDawgGirl03 out! GO DAWGS!!!

29 consecutive year in playoffs is great. I do not know the answer but when was the last time Alcoa or Maryville missed the playoffs? CAK has only played football for 12 or so years so no they do not have a Tradition, but they do have a gold ball this century. AS far as Alcoa and Maryville they have a great history/Tradition in football in the my life time(44 years) and more gold balls then I can count.

  5. Congrats to Milan on another great season. I know the Silver ball isn't what you wanted but getting to the finals is awsome. I will say this....Milan is the team to usually beat in West Tennessee year in and year out. The tradition that program has is...well the best. Milan has NOTHING to hang their heads about. You were beaten by a very well coached and talented football team tonight in CAK. A very good team that clicks on all cylenders can make a good team look bad on any night and Milan just never had a chance to get the train rolling. I still say schools like CAK or ANY private school statewide should play their own league and has no place playing public schools. They should have to play up even higher in classification in my book but that is a different subject. Congrats again from the Union City folks....til next year.

I guess if you had lost to Austin East you would have claimed it was because they are a magnet school? Take the lose like a man and move on. He proud of your team from what I hear you are very young and should be ready to make a strong run next year. The only problem is CAK is young also.

  6. Louden, now that's funny. I remember going to State back to back years, playing against Alcoa. I sat with guys from Louden, both times. They even said those Milan teams would have been too much for them. Respected Alcoa posters even stated Milan was their toughest competition. I love how no one could knock off Alcoa from the East, so automatically everyone else is weak. I would have enjoyed to watch those Milan teams play against Louden and CAK of 08 and 09. :popcorneater:

Your score is over the top. This years Milan team isn't as talented as past years and VERY young. Honestly, I don't see how they made it to State, with seeing how they played early in the year. All I know is, that South Gibson, Westview, Fairview, and CPA couldn't knock em off. They are playing with confidence and had players step up. I know CAK will throw on Milan, who have they not thrown on? But I see Milan pounding it down their throat for long, time consuming drives. Sprinkle in an interception and thats the difference, IMO.

    CAK 24

    Milan 31

I think both the 08 and 09 CAK/Milan games would have been great. CAK and Milan both lost by the same score in the 08 playoffs 28-14. The only team to beat CAK in 09 was Alcoa (the only team to ever beat CAK in the 3a playoffs has been Alcoa) by 17 (reg season) and 21 (playoffs) the same margin of victory over Milan in the Championship game. In both games CAK did score while Milan was shut out. Sounds like the a CAK/Milan match up either year would have been great games.

  7. Actually sounds like a pretty good idea. I don't like the way the classes are arranged now but you are right if there is a state champion in each class there should also be a Mr. Football for each class.

On a side note, I would like to see a way for the 6 state champions to square off against each other to find one true state champion. I have no idea how this could work with scheduling and the extra games running into basketball and such and I imagine it would be very difficult but also very cool to see.

That would take 3 more games if you include Div II. What you might do is add one game, have the Class A , Class AA and Class AAA winners play since they are currently in the same districs during the regular season. As a CAK fan, if we do beat Milan, I am not sure we would want to then face Greeneville. On the other hand, if they win, I would love to see a Powell and Maryville match up

  8. And if not for MUS and Brentwood no telling how many championships Milan would have won in the 80's. All we have to show from that era is that we've made the playoffs every year since '82.

I know Milan has been a power for years. How many State Championships have you won and when?

  9. I have seen many post about 3A being down this year and that may or may not be true. Just my opinion, if it were not for Alcoa, CAK might be going for thier 5th Gold Ball in a row. If Alcoa was in the West CAK would have 4 Silver balls and be taking home the Gold this year.

    A few facts:

CAK has never been lost in the 3A playoff to a team other then Alcoa

CAK lost by the same score in 2008 playoffs as Milan did in the Finals (CAK played @ Alcoa), 28-14

In both 2009 and 2010 CAK's only loses were to Alcoa.

In 2009 lost by 17 and 21 to Alcoa but scores in both games. Milan was shut out 21-0

In 2010 CAK lost by 17 and 11. Alcoa won in the Championship by 34

Go Warriors!! Bring home the Gold

  10. Remember that when the next team keys on your quarterbacks and stomp them into the turf - just part of playing the game, right?

Let's see who is sensitive then.

    GO ALCOA!

    :thumb:

Maybe CAK wanted to give Alcoa somthing to look at for next week. Maybe they had planned to run the fake in the 1st half but Polk never stopped them. If CAK wanted to run the score up they would have left the starters in. Did the fake really change the outcome of the game? I think it was for teams down the road.

  11. Beat the crap out of CAK, Alcoa! Beat the living crap out of those no-class punks!

Midfield, 35 points up, 4th and two, and they faked the punt....

    GET THEM!

    GO ALCOA!

    :thumb:

No class punks? We pull our starters at the half and play 2nd and 3rs string the whole 2nd half. When did Polk pull thier starters? CAK could have hung 60 if they had wanted. Maybe they should not have run a fake but maybe it was give Alcoa something to look at for next week. Maybe they had planned to run the fake the first time they punted and Polk never stopped CAK in the first half?

  12. Tell me if I am correct on this as a CAK FAN

If CAK are Distric champs they are either 1 or 2 in Quad 2 depending if Bledsoe moves or not. If they end up in Quad 1 they are #2 behind Sullivan North.

If they finish 2nd to Alcoa they are a #4 seed either way if Bledsoe moves or not (3 distric champs ahead of them. Would they also be a #4 in Quad 1, behind Sullivan N, Alcoa, and AE?

  13. If Bledsoe Co. does end up in Quad 2 the teams in order that would move East to Quad 1 are AE, Alcoa and CAK, if the pins on the TSSAA map are correct. If both AE (district winner) and Alcoa go east what would Quads 1 and 2 look like? Alcoa could be distric winner or #2 so I know that effects the seeding.

Is it possible that all 3 could move to quad 1? If so that would sure open up quad 2.

If Hickman Co. gets in that would move AE? Then Loudon out moves Alcoa? If GP is out CAK moves?
