  1. It's a bad situation all the way around. But to cancel the season would have been wrong for the 25 or so other kids who had no part in this, not to mention the seniors! I highly doubt the victim would want his teammates to miss their games, I know I wouldn't want that if it happened to me.

Yes, I heard the Coach tell Denis that he took blame on not repping enough for a particular coverage, and that is what a great coach does.  He could have gone on air and said..." well this kid here missed a block, this other kid here didn't cover the reciever very well or bit off on the run and cost us the game " Now not only is he a jerk if he did do that, but he has thrown a 17-18 year old kid under the bus in front of the whole community. There is enough pressure to do well give these kids credit for going out and getting bruised up and banged up for the sheer sake to represent a community. For goodness sake the least everybody could do is let them know you appreciate the efforts.  Win or lose these are your hometown kids.

Hadn't been on here in a while, so i'm just now seeing this. When I said what I said about Ski taking full blame and that being what any head good head coach would do, your reply hit the nail on the head. Rather than throw kids under the bus, man up and take the blame and he always does this. A lot of these folks that get on here and post probably don't listen to all the coaches shows and stuff like that to even have a clue! And I hope you weren't implying that last part to me! I support their efforts each and every week, watched the full game against Blackman on youtube since I was out of town (I hate missing games), I've been appreciating theirs efforts since I graduated in 98 and haven't missed but a handful of games since then! I wish more people would take what you said about "win or lose these are your hometown kids" to heart, would make a huge difference if they had full support. I know i've preached on that, but it's the truth.

I watched this game twice on you tube and I don't see where there were poor coaching issues. What I saw was poor covverage deep on a play or two. Some tackling issues and a team that just out hustled the other enough to get the win. It was a good game and we are looking forward to hosting the Red Raiders this week in the Boro.

You seen exactly what I seen, but here in Manchester it's always someone else to blame!! He did get on the coaches show Saturday morning and take full blame, which is what any good head coach would do! Maybe could've not kicked to the Burks boys every time, but the kicker may not have been able to kick it anywhere else comfortably, who knows. The missed tackles hurt bad, especially when it's the difference between a 10 yard loss and a 70 yard gain. I hate to miss this Fridays matchup, hopefully someone will stream it on youtube(i'll be out of town).

Funny thing about kids. You have to give them a reason bigger than themselves to play for. When you play for just yourself it is easy to quit.  It becomes ok, because no one cares, and that doesn't end in high school it bleeds over into their adult life.  They quit their job, they quit their wives, they quit their kids.....When they learn to play for something bigger than themselves they set themselves up for success.  When it is for the guy next to you, your family who supports you, your school , your city , county... it becomes important and all of a sudden my effort matters. What I do, to become the best me, for those around me carries more weight than ever.  I would say to those Coffee county fans that read this get together and be at the game before the team takes the field and high five them- Tell them you are proud of them, and they are doing a good job. It might take a while but you will see a shift. When you believe that what you do matters to someone other than yourselves you begin to deliver results like they matter.

    Very well put sir

Positivity create results, never liked how the parents just walk off, the kids play their hearts out regardless of the outcome, come on now and support them

AMEN! When people get up and walk out it pisses me off to no end! The coaching is there, just need the support from parents and community to go along with it. I don't care if we're down 100-0 (hope that never happens), but i'll still be letting the team know i'm supporting them by cheering them on! I guarantee if we can ever have a season that is backed with 100% support, the outcome would be totally different. Manchester has a way of ruining things for itself though, heck, just look at what happened with Chase Jones. Won more baseball games than anyone we've ever had and someone's all-star didn't get the playing time daddy thought they deserved, so they figured a way to have him gone! Anyway, not to get off topic, but Coach Ski and staff along with the team will have my full support no matter what and the folks sitting around me better to, or they might not like me to well after this season, lol.

Maybe some of those parents or supporters who are the true blue fans need to hold others accountable. Call them out! What are they going to do not show up any longer? It is one thing to get upset about losing, because it should bother you wnem you don't. But the quickest way to stay defeated is adopt a bad attitude. Acknowledge the positive, learn from mistakes, but do not dwell on them or you will  kill the desire to try.  I wish the boosters at every school would print about 1000 cards  that said something to the effect of

"Thank you for proudly Supporting our (name of team )  Because we take pride in our program and in winning just like you do this card is friendly reminder that you matter . Your actions and words is what will fuel our program for years to come. Thank you for being a POSITIVE  contributor to our progrm

then would let boosters pass those out in the stand when folks are being jerks,

Believe me, I have no problem calling out the negative fans, just need a little more help in that department, lol. I like your suggestions on the cards, that's a dang good idea!

  7. Nothing aggravates me more than to hear all this belly aching from the stands from these so called "supporters"! And the ones who get up and walk out when we're down, what does that show the kids? Well, we're down, let's throw in the towel. You guys are 100% right in saying that the parents attitude bleeds over to the kids. I just wish everyone would support the team every game as they do the Tullahoma game. I believe with FULL support from the community (especially parents) would change this programs way of thinking drastically. But instead, they get to hear ole dad talk about what a dumba$$ the coaches are. I haven't missed very many home games since 1994, maybe 5 or 6, and I can tell you that the coaching staff is the best we've had in a long time. They know what they are talking about and can back it up if our so called "supporters" would get behind them!

  8. Any middle school near Coffee County still needing to a game to add to their schedule. We have had a couple games get dropped and need to fill some spots asap. Dates we have open are August 9th and 16th, as well as October 4th. Please contact me asap if your school needs a game. Could use a jamboree possibly as well. Thanks

  9. Since my son has started playing middle school football I have been trying to find out who's in their conference and what the rankings are. Does anyone have a link to a website that would have that info? Team is Coffee County Middle School and they are in the Central Tennessee Conference (CTC).

  10. Depends on the player. Some can't, some can. A good example would be freshman qb from last season (10th grade in 2015) Alontae Taylor from Coffee County. He lead the nation in rushing yards for a freshman and has allready had offers from Vandy, Troy, and Georgia Tech. I also heard tonight UT has been to visit.

  11. I've spoke with the middle school AD and he thought it would be a good idea. He had a few questions that I didn't have answers to. Where can I find a list of rules and stuff like that? At the high school level, do they have to have an adult in the boat with them? And how close/ how many tournaments? I've tried looking for a website that would have that info and can't.

  12. I was wondering who all the new hires where and what people thought about them, especially District 8 AAA. I'm a CCHS red raider alumni and I have to say the new hire here is exciting to say the least when you look at his resume. Hopefully Coach Ryan Sulkowski will put a couple wins in the win column in 2014. I don't expect a complete overnight turn around, but progress would be nice. I know he will have plenty of upcoming talent to use at his disposal.

  13. Ive always felt schools like Warren County, Franklin County, and Coffee County should achieve more than they do, but if I had to pick 2 schools that consistently under achieve that would be Cookeville and Lebanon. These are schools who should be able to compete with anybody. Lebanon used to hold their own with Rutherford County, but now they havent had a winning season since 2006. Cookeville is an average team who always benefited from easy district schedules and STILL couldnt get past the first round or 2. Cookeville should be a consistent 9 or 10 win team in my opinion. Both schools brought in new coaches this year with great pedigree's and if Harp and Maynord can't turn these programs into contenders....it makes you wonder who can.

I'm with you on this! I believe Warren, Franklin and Coffee counties should be more productive than they are. For example, our youth teams dominate in Coffee county and are usually competing for championship against either Franklin or Warren county. What ticks me off most is that we have an excellent youth program here, 2 middle schools (coffee county middle and westwood middle) who absolutely dominate every time they play. Hopefully some new hires for the 2014 season will turn things around! Coach Sulkowski for Coffee County has a VERY impressive resume, hopefully it shows on the field.
