  1. Not sure i agree that it would have been a different game. I was there also. BA made their own share of mistakes plus some of the PI calls were pretty questionable - all went in B's favor. Yes B made a bunch of mistakes but the B QB was hurried on at least 2 of those interceptions because of a strong pass rush - those were caused by good defense. and while total yds were close, BAs offense scored quickly - at last 2 times i think they scored in 3 or 4 plays. They were not on the field long so total offense in this game was not really a measurement. And to be honest, BA did not play like they did against MBA. We also missed one of our best defensive guys - scheduled to be back vs FR. So who knows, we might get to meet up again. No doubt BA will need to play better than they did friday nite if they want any chance of beating ensworth

  2. The best coach you've seen? Pretty interesting comment. It says a lot about a coach when they lose the respect of their assistants and the players, and frankly the student athletes in all sports. It had absolutely nothing to do with wins or losses. And those are the facts. Not sure you understand that. No one will win the argument as to who had the most talent. Who cares? The simple fact is BA did not play up to their potential. Suffice to say i'm pretty sure all interested parties on all sides re: potter leaving BA and going to mccallie are extremely pleased with the outcome - incl the players (and they count the most). As for mccallie and baylor, good luck to both. I'm sure it will be a great game with lots of passion

  3. you could have done the same thing friday nite on the stratford side at the BA/Stratford game. sad to see to be honest. It was supposed to be a home and away with this yr being at S-ford but the BA administrators told me S-ford asked to have it at BA so they would get something from the gate. S-ford only had 28 dressed. hopefully JPII fans will be in attendance. takes something away from the game that's for sure

  4. i'm sure a number of the BA posters on here have met him. I'd say he is a cool dude. A breath of fresh air that's for sure. I cannot overstate how much the players respect him and want to play for him. A big reason for that? he really respects the kids. The new DC he brought in has really worked them hard and in fact he was responsible for overseeing the summer workouts for all teams and while he drove them hard, the kids love the guy - he too is a great guy. I know one thing, they have worked far harder than any of the 4 yrs my son has been associated with football at BA. we'll see what happens long term but he has made a favorable impression

  5. good heavens to both of you!! now we want to turn this into a referee thing? ref comments are sour grapes. when my son (who played the entire game) came home we laughed as he recounted the relentless comments and actions (just on him) from MBA kids. and maybe you'd like me to send you the tweets that were said before the game - MBA guys telling him they would take him out? who cares? it's funny - these are HS boys for god's sake. both teams played hard and it was a great game played by 2 good teams. we've all said that until now - but all of the sudden we get "oh, the refs screwed us". this game could go either way the next time. the refs had nothing - nothing to do with the final score here. i have no doubt both teams did some trash talking and did some pushing here and there - no team consists of angels. as for s-in-thefat - you might want to watch the film - the BA receivers are fast. If you don't think so you aren't watching. All 4 were part of BAs state c-ship track team. When max is on like he was friday, they will score. Geez, we BA posters have been nothing but gracious in fact defending your team when some of your fans are going after your coach and team. this was a hard fought game decided by the kids on the field - as it should be.

  6. I think MBA has a very good football team. They are physical, they play hard, play more as a team this yr than last and they are absolutely better than last yr. The BA game was closer then the score indicated and BA had a fight on their hands all nite. The BA boys know that. As a few of us said in posts leading up to the game, BA has a lot of speed at the skill positions incl the defensive b-field and if they did what they are capable of and also getting the offense going, they would be tough to beat. They have been very inconsistent heretofore. Friday nite they started to be more consistent. The BA WRs were open all nite and that shows when looking at the stats, BUT MBA really shut down the ground game. Very tough to run on. Long way to the playoffs. I know i'll be worried if we have to play MBA again - won't be easy.

  7. None of the top DII teams will skip a challenge and in fact they want them even if it means no perfect record or some continued "superficial" schedule that allows to you to say you beat everyone. As owlbooster said, the kool aid is indeed overflowing with some delusion mixed in. One only needs to watch some of the games between the top DII schools and then know why DI colleges are always knocking on their doors - speed, speed speed with lots of athleticism. You guys keep fooling yourselves in believing those spoiled DII schools are hiding from what you think are the best football teams. You'll keep your perfect record that way

  8. will the BA receivers be open? i'm not sure you will find a better set of 4 starting receivers in the entire state. all have great hands and are very fast. all will play at the next level.

Coach redmond is a great guy but this is a new HC and not the predictable one we have had the past few yrs. C redmond has not worked with white. that said, i still think MBA wins it tomorrow nite. Doct is correct, BA gets the offense going, it will be a close call. if not, MBA will wear them down. in the end it is early in the season and all DII AA make the playoffs so that's where i'm hoping BA will be at the top of their game

  9. I think you are spot on. I'm not optimistic for the same reason - BAs offense is sputtering and they are tiring out the defense. And they have a lot of guys going both ways. Add rain to that (possible Isaac impact) and MBAs big boys have the advantage. Skill guys with speed get neutralized. I still think the BA squad can make a run in the playoffs but for this one, i think MBA will pull it out.

  10. you are correct and to be more specific, most of the top colleges in the US esp up north require SATs, incl SAT subject tests. a small pct in TN take those while many northern states focus more on SATs. I did the same when i was in 11th and 12th grade up north. While we now live in TN, i have had children attend schools in more than 1 state in more than 1 region in this country so while we are not experts by any measurement, we have seen differences. not sure why this is being discussed on a sports board but true life experience is simply that. education varies in this country and that is a simple fact

  11. rocks63 - thx for the good comments. very interesting analysis. actually i had a question related to dawkins also. we had heard he went out with any injury in the game but from your analysis of the mba game, sounds like he played the entire game. is that the case?

  12. trust me, i don't know of any BA person that will tell you MBA Is not a good team. and they sure would have beaten us tonite. Very poorly played game by BA. It was painful to watch. IF we come out like that next fri vs MBA we'll get our tails whopped. May even if we play well. Congrats to MBA - we were watching on our phones. I thought they'd pull it out. Certainly says good things for TN football. well done

i know - can you imagine? a kid wanting to attend a premier private and boarding school? i'm not a baylor fan or alumni but it is a great school. and batman/robin might want to check out the tn-ssean today. TN is next to last in the nation in ACT scores - and that is not driven by private schools. if you think so, i have a bridge in brooklyn to sell to you. holy watermelon batman!!

  14. Doct - i think we all were hence my terse reply. in retrospect, mine was too harsh. i am sure we both saw many things that had they just gone our way a few times, we could have hung in there. i wish we could play them a month from now. that said, i just hope we can stay healthy to make a run at it - we are pretty thin in spots
