  1. The rings have been ordered and will be given to the players at the football banquet at a date yet to be determined. The players have not seen the rings yet, the design was left solely with the coaches. Also, the rings have either been covered or almost covered through donations or fundraising purchases. (Per the Principal). Also, the associate selling championship gear said they were blown away with the amount sold so far. They have over tripled what theyd normally sell and alot had to be back ordered.

So, all is well in Tiger country. Have a very Merry Christmas. I pray all is well with you and yours.

And to all my Pirate brethren, good luck on your coaching search, im sure you won't disappoint, and you never know, our rivalry may be renewed again next year.

Football 2013 is one week away!

  2. I guess in my older years that im not as healthy as some of you old Tigers. Ive got an arthtitic condition that makes it painful to stand for several hours like that. Too much wear and tear on these knees and ankles over the years. Id sacrifice the pain to do it if i had to, but the point is that i shouldnt have too.

  3. Tpay, Im so obscure to the Gordonsville family that if i gave you my name, you still wouldn't know who i am. Rkw, when we got there at 5:40 only a couple people were on the fence and you weren't one of them. Once i finally got a seat, i never got up. Btw, someone needs to address seat saving at the jungle. Thats two weeks in a row that ive been there an hour and a half before the game and there are as many jugs and stuff in seats than butts. Come on people, im paying my 8 bucks too! Lol

  4. Congrats to Coalfield on a tough win last night, and welcome to Gordonsville. Thankfully because of how you played and where you did it, you wont be overlooked. And thats something that none of the teams remaining can afford to do at this point. Obviously these teams have just enough athletes to pull off the unthinkable. Should be a great one in the jungle come Black Friday. Looks as though the cream has risen to the top and now there's a bigger prize at stake. Only one thing is for sure; Huntingdon, Nashville Christian, Coalfield, or Gordonsville will be 2012 State Champs and everyone else will be lost in history. Let's get ready to rumble!

  5. I am not much of an apologetic, unless its religious, so here's my summation ; nic suiting up was huge tonight and next week, if we play like we did tonight, we lose. The coaches have to make sure our players arent caught with their pants down, like they were tonight.

Everyone knows that our D is designed to stop the run, but tonight against Eville we were trying to do the old bend but dont break on the pass and continue to load up on the run. Eagleville had their chances tonight and i kept waiting on the D to adjust and it never seemed to til the 4th and after Nic was involved.

Its not going to get easier, we've got to be able to adjust to the oppositions game plan faster or its gonna cost us.

Obviously in the playoffs, teams arent just lining up with what got them there, theyre trying to adjust and gain an advantage by using unorthodox or element of surprise. (the eagles were successful tonight on a halfback pass, a reverse, a couple screens to keep us off balanced, and even blocked a punt; which im sure they saw on film) Where is Gordonsville showing anything but the same stuff they run all year? Please, when we're getting our regular offense stuffed, use a little creativity and it will pay dividends. And please, for the love of pete, stop with the two return men on punts, WE'RE GONNA GET BURNED by a well prepared team.

Eagleville my hats off to you. Good, hard fought game. And Tigers, learn valuable lessons from this game and never give up. Go Tigers!

  6. I sometimes look at change differently than others. Id like to think with a touch of nostalgia. As a Gordonsville alummi and fan, in some ways losing Fcs to D II and probably losing the rivalry is almost like losing Castle Heights a second time. Always a tough opponent that made you better because you had to up your game to beat them.

  7. I really believe it's going to be the opposite. I think its such a huge relief to finally get the monkey off our backs, and knock down the wall that has stood in our way (losing to south pitt and getting knocked out of the playoffs each of the last four years); that the team will come out loose and be ready to take care of business. I for one, an anxious to see how they play after putting their ghosts to rest. Its been along time since we've been on the other side of things.

    Tpay, how's the boy?

  8. In my opinion, for now, depth is the reason why Friendship would wear down against Leb, Wilson C, and Mt.Juliet. Ill also add that if i were a betting man, Friendship could've beaten Lebanon this year, speed or not.

As far as speed goes, or the fact that a 1 A or a 2A team could never compete with a 5/A or 6/A team; just ask Station Camp what it felt like losing to Gordonsville in the jamboree. Yeah, yeah, i know it was a jamboree but It was 2 full quarters of starters, and i guess 2 quarters wasnt enough time for the cream to rise to the top.
