  1. Speaking of the IFL , at the end of the broadcast of the Maryville vs Hendersonville game they put up a list of overall Football State Titles called Circle of Champions ... my question is ... why is Maryville's title from 1964 not counted but other team's titles from before 1969 are ? the list shows

     Maryville - 14

     Alcoa -       13

     BA     -       10

    Trousdale co- 9

    Dobyns Bennett - 9

     MBA  -       9

     WEBB -      7

     Oak Ridge -7

Just looking at this list I see a whole bunch of pre 1969 titles ( the Original IFL !! )  I say we make that 14 a 15 ...

Not sure why it was wasn't counted, but it should be eventhough it was before the TSSAA was formed......Hmmm, 15-0 season with State Championship #15.......I dunno?.... Oh and Momma Stars singing would be fantastic, however you should hear Stars singing "Amazing Grace" in church on Sundays....sounds pretty good for an old feller..........RP............

  2. I honestly can't believe he hasn't left even before now, FB. With what Gus Malzahn has done at Auburn and Arky it is gonna open the door for guys like GQ I think to pursue something like that. Gus has shown that some HS football coaches are just as good as some college ones, if not a lot.

SweetScience, you are right! After what Malzahn has done with my second favorite FBS team Auburn this year it will definitely get the attention of other schools in bad need of an OC or HC...... GQ has turned down an offer from TN, mainly Fulmer, in years past, but he keeps this up and the big boys are going to start throwing more money at him than Maryville City Schools can match. However I do feel his heart is with teaching and mentoring our kids to become men which is something all young boys need in their lives. Now that is not to say someone won't come calling for one of his assistants to step up as a head coach on the high school level, or possibly an assistant at the college level. I am with FBEmeritus, a Wells Fargo truck in GQ's driveway would be a nightmare come true for us Rebel fans....................RatPack........................

  3. so what should he have done? Kicked it and made it 47-7 he gave it to a soph behind the #2 line

CHIEF15,  obviously you and others on here do not know anything about REBEL football or its history. Waving a Rebel Flag is not disrespecting another team, it is showing school spirit in a victory for true REBEL fans. No I wasn't there, but can tell you this, we had Rebel flags flying every year that we have been there, ummm this makes 5 years in a row, and none of the Memphis crowd did anything about it, nor did they cry about it. So if the kids did something to injure the fans that is one thing, but to wave their flags is nothing more than show that they have school spirit well quit your complaining.... Whitehaven acted like a bunch of immature babies last year and the year before....in 2011 they didn't want to come out and shake the hands of the team that kept their offense out of the endzone all night, and last year the fans stormed the field trying to start fights after a win that was given to them by an officiating crew that didn't know the rules....yes the Rebels should have put more points on the board to take the officials out of it, but hey the Maryville players, kids, and fans showed they could act like humans in defeat.....

As for class regarding GQ, he has more class in his left pinky toe than most anyone on this board, and obviously he wanted to make sure this mighty powerful HHS team didn't try to make a comeback on our MIGHTY Rebels.....LOL!!!! He also took the officiating crew out of screwing up the possible outcome like last year..... As for them not going for 3, it is simple, his 2nd team was up against HHS 1st team defense, lets see if the defense can stop them and they did, for what the 3rd ofr 4th time all night??? The Rebels just proved again that nobody in Middle TN has beat them since they moved up to 6A, and I doubt they will for a few more years to come. Face it, as Ron Wright would say "HHS just got handed an old fashion East Tn dawg whoopin' !!!! LOL!!! .........Good night until next year boys, that is if you can make it back............RP..........................

  4. Good game, and both teams/fans/students were all class acts, unlike Whitehaven last year. Maryville handles defeat just like wins, with humility, as do their fans. Wish we could have been there, but just too cold for our son (not worth getting him sick)..... Congratulations to our Red Rebels on a fantastic year!!! And also to Hendersonville as they took care of business on their side of the state.............RatPack..................

Oh and I cannot forget my Auburn Tigers dominating win today along with the Spartans upsetting Oscar Meyer and the Buckeyes!!!!

  5. Will there be a stream of this game anywhere besides the TSSAA website? I heard a lot of people were having problems with it last night, and unfortunately it isn't televised for me.

That is the only spot I have seen and they charge you $9.95 for the day to watch the games.... TSSAA is going to get your money any way they can....... The radio broadcast will be streamed online at http://www.wyshradio.com/ click on the link under sports or one of the two on the lh column of either radio station..........RatPack........

  6. Riggs was blasted that night. I think he got like 67 yards total but the Rebel D made him pay for every yard and he was no help to his team. One of my son's told me he was soft and went down easy. I don't think he took a snap in the 4th quarter. He came out by himself after his team all pretty, strutting around to show out and it just fired them Rebel's up.

Kind like the Semi game when TN High was undefeated and ranked ahead of the rebels and major trash was printed in the Knoxville rag and in the Bristol Paper about how much better TN High was than MHS, bigger, faster and too much talent. The ole' smoking helmet entrance thing occurred and the rebels tore them up for like 42-Zip in the first half. There are a few teams who have come into the Skeeter over the years and got their butts handed to them.

Maryville over looks NO ONE but if a team comes in with anything looking like disrespect, it could be a mistake.

Yeah I remember that TN High game as it was extremely cold, place was packed, we sat on the visitor side because they didn't bring a band, and the Rebels handed them an old fashioned East Tn dawg whoopin' at the Skeeter!!!! However I think Riverdale showed the most disrespect setting up their pup tent with smoke, flags along the bleachers, and their crossed tomahawks thinking they were going to intimidate the Rebels on our turf.....whipped them too!!! Respect all, fear NONE!!!........RatPack...........

  7. I thought he was playing with an ankle sprain. You are right though, after he got hit a couple of times he acted like he wanted no more.

    GO REBELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I think he got tired of coachspanky wearing him out each time he got the ball.... Coach was yelling at him the entire game. Didn't the Rebels hold Riggs to less than 20 yards total? For some reason I remember it being around 11 yards rushing, or was it minus yards rushing. I know Riggs wasn't a factor against the Rebels that night.............RatPack...........

  8. Fellers eye haiv ben werkin' on tha yunger pipeline 1-2 yeer olds.......Thangs iz lookin' good...... :popcorneater:

Don't furget tha 4 yeer old kicker that can knock your jockstrap off......he was on the field after the game Friday night wearing out some 10 year olds with his tackling skills.... Punting the ball 10 yards in the air too........ Oh and he got a field goal from the endzone line too. Missed getting it on video.............RP.........................

  9. Hey RW87, thanks for getting us the tickets....didn't know they were going to sell them at the gate where we go in.....tell A thanks for running them down there to us!...............RP................

And yes lets bring all the gold back to East TN next week!!! Pulling for my friends son Xavier Hawkins and the rest of the Fulton Falcons!!!

Oh and to notredame66.....The best of each division is who those schools are and rightfullys so....oh and I heard that the State of TN Dept of Tourism is starting to give directions for people traveling towards Middle TN that they have to go through Maryville before they can make it to Cookeville and points beyond.......LOL!!!!  Besides, I would put Fulton, West, and Alcoa up against anything 7AAA has to offer and they would do what Maryville did last night..........end of story.......you have next year......

  10. I think Maryville's tough game tonight was the best thing that could have happened for them and the worst thing that could have happened for Hendersonville.Looking at Hendersonville's season, they had a lot of close games but Maryville had blown threw some really good teams and needed that tough game to stay hungrey .

That game last night was exactly what the Rebels needed and Hendersonville didn't! I haven't watched any games of H'ville, but for any team to beat those guys out of Memphis they must be pretty good no matter how bad the opponent was..... I have read/listened to all the talk on here and elsewhere regarding Maryville opponents this year as being "cotton candy" types, but look at who is in the Championship games next week from the Knoxville/Maryville area: West, Alcoa, and Webb....all of whom Maryville dominated this year with big wins. Alcoa and West's only losses are to Maryville, and Webb has only lost two games getting the big game this year. As long as the officiating crew this year keeps it honest, and knows the rules, I think the Rebels will roll though they will not overlook H'ville...........GO REBELS!!!................RatPack...............

  11. After Stars post above there is not much more to say...... It was a great game and Blackman was a good opponent as any, maybe the best MHS has seen all year. However what I saw last night is what I see every week with MHS football: DISCIPLINE! The Rebels had it, Blackman didn't, and they never got off the first play w/o two penalties from refs that were from Middle TN! It was that way all night. The Blackman fans showed more support from the first snap than our typical sit on your duff Maryville fans, that wuz until Stars and the rest of the Woo Crew decided to start hollering back which fired up the rest of the Rebel fans.....we start kinda slow then finish really loud! Got a road trip planned for Friday night to NC so I may not be makin' the show in Cookeville on Saturday night...... Go REBELS!!!!......................RatPack.............

    Oh and Moutain Troll....

If eye wuz Butch ... Eye wood bee livin' on GQ's frunt poorch.

you are correct!!! But in typical TN fb fashion they like to overlook our boys until others come a calling.....they lost out to Vandy and I love it!!!

  12. Let's just let our Boys do the Talking RatPack .... we been there , done that , not our first Rodeo , we can't beat em here on a Message board .

True, just wanted to put it out there that I think the Rebels will win and win big.........Going to set up my tent and heater after turkey dinner Thursday night so RW87 isnt cold sitting line for my tix...LOL!!!............RP.................

  13. I don't care what kind of numbers rushing they had last week against Oakland, they will not get half of that against the Rebels defense. They cannot depend on running the ball and only throwing it 5 times. I can only remember one game where the opponent ran the ball w/o throwing it against the Rebels and won: Alcoa in 2009. They never threw the ball, just ran a dive play almost every play and the Rebels couldn't stop it. That won't happen with this defense. Blackman's defense is good, but if Prevo plays he and Burgess will run roughshod all night with Cody Carrol snatching passes like a frog catching flies........ I am going to go out on a long skinny limb, and I is not a litle fella by any means, but sitting here watching Blackman's past games on the puter I think Blackman may stay in it for the first qtr, then the Rebels will put 40+ on them and win big.................RP.................

  14. Should we plan a meet and greet like at Big time concerts? We could even sign autographs and post for pictures!

Not a bad idea.....hey they could come sit with us and we would feed them everytime MHS scores a TD with some TD Cookies!!!.....They'd be eatin' good too as much as the Rebels score!!!...LOL!!!!....... Not really sure I would want to pose for a picture though.....I'm not as photogenic as Stars is..............RP..........

  15. RP ...momma allways ennercepts mine when'st hit comes two cookies..... :hungry:

Now I know better than that..........RP............

Just got a call from 2nd in charge at 825 Lawrence telling us no tickets until the gates open at 5:00 and sounded a little hateful....guess a lot a of people have been calling tying up the phone lines and the secretaries can't do other work...LOL!!!
