  1. Maybe the coach has reasons for leaving, like moving into an administrator's position and something to do with his wife's job, but there are competing considerations like loyalty to the program, finishing what you start, commitment to players, keeping your word to those who hired you and to your assistant coaches, etc. I'm not trying to knock him. It's just that I can understand why some people, even Powell people, are questioning this.

I can see your point, but in the education system today, you have to look out for number 1. If it came down to it, would you choose your loyalties(all of the things you mentioned) over what is best for your family? I know I wouldn't.
  2. No offense to Karns, but why on God's green earth would you leave Powell to go to Karns? Something fishy is really going on at Powell and it doesn't sound good. I have heard the admin there has even tried to run off Coach Ogan of the basketball team there? Unreal.

Too many theories on here, and none of them are even close to true, SS. Powell has had three AD'S in three years, so it's hard to say that each one of them has had time to wanna run Ogan off. They've all had very legit reasons for leaving, just as Powell's coaches have. So, there's nothing fishy going on, especially with the Kilgore situation. He also has a very legit reason for leaving.
  3. That's true, pp. Well, I guess the Middleton to Fulton rumor can be put to rest lol

Lol. First time I've watched him play bball. He could end up being quite the beast if he can control the attitude
  4. What you say is true.

It is also true that every year, including this one, the rhetoric is that we have a weak schedule. So be it.

I copied and pasted (can't type).

I know what you mean. Regardless of schedule strength, you guys made it to where you are for a reason. Just as Powell and Henry Co. did in 2011. Those two teams were clearly the best in 5a, so schedule strength doesn't mean jack to me(in most cases).
  5. An actual post from this week 2 years ago:

Listen here buudy, East Tn football is on a whole different level than anywhere else in TN. Im not a powell fan but if you think mobley is gunna get rocked by your defense than you got another thing coming for you. Knox West was suppose to have a great defense and well , everybody saw what powell did to them. But you can keep talkin all you want ,bc come friday youll see what east tn football is all about. Get ready to play with the BIG BOYS

This is one post, but I know there were more. Also, I remember a lot of HC fans saying Powell shouldn't even show up. I shouldn't have to go find one and type it, cause I'm sure you remember. So, I'd say it went both ways.
  6. Guys, Henry County and Powell didn't play tough schedules in 2011, but I can assure you they were the best teams in 5a. SOS out the window, both teams made it to the title game for a reason. I expect it to be much of the same this year. Do not sleep on Henry County if they make it. They are VERY well coached.

  7. The Price boys are really trying to turn CC around. They are 16-16 after 3 years which is amazing. Of course, some feathers will get ruffled at other schools. You have schools like Central, Powell, OR, Karns and Halls. These teams have always beat CC and now the worm MIGHT BE turning so they get upset when they lose to CC. They feel CC celebrates too much and so forth. Notice, jeopardyperil, I didn't say AC. LOL. Every SEC school and coach loved Derek Dooley, wonder why. They were beating his brains out. In a couple of years they will hate Butch Jones. Your first post was a dig at the Prices and CC. After a few more 1-9 seasons at Halls you'll want them as your coaches.

Nobody is upset. I personally find it amusing (especially since you brag about it) due to the fact Powell played with its third string qb, played kids at receiver that hadn't played varsity all year, and CC still barely pulled it out. No excuses, but those are the facts. Say what you guys want, but that's not a victory I would brag about too much. I'm truly glad CC had a great year(well deserved btw), and I think the twins are doing a great job, but don't let it go to your head, there's still a lot of work for CC to do.
  8. I think Style of play is huge, has been a big factor in why this district has been all over the place this year. If you look at the matchup and style of play I feel AC matches up much better tah CC did. As a matter of fact I would say that AC and Oak Ridge are the only 2 teams in our district that play the style of ball to compete with this west team. It is still a tall order, but AC matches up much better than I think people are giving them credit for

Powell def plays the style to compete and beat West, as they've done it the last two seasons. I know Powell was a little down this year, but for the most part the same style.
  9. Another masterful performance, M4L. Bravo! I like all your points and believe we could engineer the upset. That is unlikely IMO but it is possible. Query though, do you think we would have upset Clinton with Hazelhurst and Powell with Mobley?

My opinion....no and no. There's no way to really know, though. As far as West, I've learned to never rule you guys out.
  10. So CC got 9 teams on their bad week, Idiot. You will have your hats handed to you this week.

Some of the better teams did have quite the injury bug when CC played them, but that's part of the game. Either way, CC did find a way to win when those games when they were tight. Good season for CC, although they weren't a strong 9-1 team. Just my honest feeling. Now to AC/West.....can't wait for this one! I think West takes it because they really are tough this year! Hope AC can do it, but it will be a tall task.
