  1. Get over yourselves. This district was highly competitive, and the talent was very very close with each team besides Hillsboro. The way i see it, the district could have gone to any team (Ravenwood, Centennial, Indy exc.) who all played very good games against the so called power houses (Brentwood/Franklin) and against each other. Ravenwood had Brentwood beat 8-7 in the bottom of the 6th but gave it away. Centennial beat Indy 2-1 with indy leaving a guy on third to end the game. Ravenwood beat and lost to Centennial by 1 run (5/4, 9/10). Centennial lost to Brentwood 2-4. Franklin Beat brentwood 3-2. These games are all so incredibly close that you can say that one team was better, but in the end they are all pretty much the same. Only thing left to do is root for the teams remaining to make our district look good by bringing home a state title, we all had our shot to play on, but only two teams remain and arguing over a District 11 AAA forum isn't going to change anything.

i wouldnt count any team out or in. This district is so incredibly close on talent that you can't necessarily pick a team to win. We all have our favorites but if a team is on its A game the whole tournament they will win it.. Not necessarily about talent in this case, more about who has the determination and balls to play great and win.

  3. I'll take Indy vs. Brentwood in the final. The Eagles have been playing some good baseball the last week and look for it to carry over. Coach Moore will have his guys ready to go. Unlike Centennial, Indy will be prepared for the bunt against Franklin.

Dont forget ravenwood who were the obvious better team vs indy. Won 2 out of 3 but gave the 3rd game away with walks and errors, like they have done in many other games this year. They have won 8 out of last 9 and look for them to make a push in the district tournament, if they win the play in game.

  4. The board has been quiet. The Rebels have not come out of the gates as expected. Their hitting has been inconsistent/poor and the defense has made way too many errors. It's obvious that they were not prepared to play when the season started. The line up is still not set yet. Last night the bats looked good but they faced a freshman pitcher.

The good news for Franklin is that their pitching has been good and the bats should continue to improve throughout the season. It just may be too late for them to be in contention for the regular season district title. They won't stand a chance if the defense continues to make errors.

The battle right now is between Indy, Centennial, and Brentwood. Indy looked good the first week.

It wasn't the pitching that franklin beat, it was the defense. Ravenwood had a sloppy defensive series making about 20 errors over 3 games. The hits were about even for both teams throughout the series.

  5. Brentwood 2-0 (no scores, assuming they won both)

    Centennial 2-0

    Independence 1-1

    Franklin 1-1

    Ravenwood 0-2

    Hillsboro 0-2

    3-21-12

    Independence at Franklin

    Ravenwood at Centennial

    Ravenwood over Centennial 11-7.

  6. In the past I had agreed with many of IndyEagle09's posts but no longer. To seriously think that Indy would be the frontrunner if Summit didn't exist is crazy. They did not lose any juniors or seniors. They will miss DB but to think that a bunch of other Sophomores would lead the team to victory is not right.

Franklin has not had a winning season based on win/loss' under Glover is correct but both seasons have resulted with runner up status in the district tournament, last year advancing on to the next round. I don't think Glover cares about the overall record but how the team performs in district play. In another post IndyEagle09 has stated that the Franklin pitching rotation has not improved in the three years the coach has been at Franklin... this is his third year so it is a little early to make that comment.

The comment about the district falling in terms of talent may be accurate but it may be too early to tell too. There are a lot of quality players out there just not some of the big names.

Looking at the schedules, I would predict that Indy has a good chance at taking a game or two from the Rebels since the season is early and Franklin will not have played or scrimmaged as much as Indy, depending on weather it may be Franklin's first game too.

Look for Centenial to be the dark horse in the district and finish in the top 3. Indy will battle with Ravenwood for the 4th spot.

Ravenwood starting off strong. 4-2 so far. Beat good science hill and riverdale teams. Lost to siegel and shelby ville. Going to be a great district and the talent doesnt seem to be as weak as everbody thinks, so far.

I dont think anybody truly knows how it will pan out. I suggest that all the teams done by regionals support our team that is left, no matter who it is.

  8. Should be a fun series when Tullahoma and Columbia square off. Pretty strong district when arguably the 3rd best pitcher in the district is on Team USA!

My son played 14u travel ball against joe demers. Kid throws low 90's as a freshman. Also have seen keegan thompson pitch. The gatorade player of the year is a freaking beast.

  9. Oakland is better than people think they are and I wouldn't read too much into a scrimmage, especially the first scrimmage.

oakland isnt in this district. Ravenwood will beat brentwood in the district tournament to take it to sub state. Brentwood has way more talent then franklin but i just see either team doing well this year. Centennial could take home district if they beat ravenwood. But overall the ravenwood bunch is a solid team. Will be a very interesting year and im rooting for all teams! We just need a team come out of our district that can truly compete in the tournament. Whoever that is, is still the question here?

  10. They lost more than one player. Burdick will hurt the most, but some of their best JV players also are not at Summit. The losses I talked about was in regards to depth that has helped the Eagles the last 4 seasons. This season Coach Moore will not have that advantage.

Coach Moore is still the best coach in the district. What has Franklin done the last couple of years that makes them the favorite? When was the last time they had a winning season? Franklin like the rest of the district doesn't truly have an ace.

This district is up for grabs, because the talent is way down.

I completely agree. Franklin does not have experience with winning and won't know how to handle success. I would put the district between Ravenwood and Brentwood. I think Ravenwood takes 2 of 3.

  11. you can never count out any of the teams besides hillsburro. As with indy last year, they won the district, but a surprise came from franklin to win the district tournament. Ravenwood can compete with them, IF Ben Brock is back and healthy. Kid can throw the ball. Saw him sophmore year touching 90.

  12. I too heard about the Robertson situation. It was something about not making a mile under a certain time so the coach would not let him on the team. I am not saying this is true at all because I can't see a coach getting rid of a top of the rotation arm like Robertson, but this is what I have heard. Hopefully this is just a rumor; it would really shake up the district though, Brentwood could go toe to toe with Franklin if this is true.

I think the district will come down to ravenwood vs Brentwood. Especially if robertson is out. Franklin doesn't know how to consistently win.

  13. Franklin will win the district this year led by the pitching of Robertson, Bennorth, and Payne. If Franklin can find an Offensive solution to replace Little, they could make a run for state this year. They will have a lot of weapons this year and a lot working toward there advantage. They easily have the most depth in there rotation this year, and probaly the best hitter in the district with Sistrunk. They also have the young kid behind the plate, could be the best catcher in the district and only a sophmore.

I don't agree at all. Franklin will be a good team, but there rotation won't be as strong as you say. Bennorth got rocked most of last year, and Sistrunk will be good as long as his attitude is in check. Who else do they have? Unless some guys step up then i doubt what you say is true..

  14. Agreed. This district is going to take a big step back this year but it won't take long for the talent to come back around.

What do yall think about multiple freshman playing varsity on hillsburro? Seem kind of young?

  15. Look, here's how it is going to be. Brentwood and Franklin, sure they have okay talent, but who (besides Hillsboro obviously) doesen't? They lack what a team like Ravenwood has. Balls. Those guys are grinding everyday right now. The starters this year all have the experience. They know that winning is the standard of Ravenwood Baseball and will be able to overcome anything that stands in their way.

Yes but so are all of the other teams in the district. They will be a solid team. I agree.

  16. It’s good to get this discussion going again now that the season is almost here. Every year seniors graduate and it impacts the programs but Indy will really feel the loss this year. Add that to the departure of some younger players over to Summit and it looks like Indy’s reign at the top will finally end.

It is early to make predictions since all most of us have to go on is based on last year’s performance. Since last year, the returning players have all improved and have become stronger. There are also new players that will have an impact. With that being said, I expect the top teams to be Franklin and Brentwood with Centennial as a potential contender. These three teams each have a large group of returning players that have already proven themselves.

Franklin is deep in pitching with their key pitchers from last year returning. They lost their number one offensive producer from last year but if the returning players step-up offensively, they should be the team to beat.

Brentwood returns most of their potent offense from last year but the depth of their pitching staff may be their weakness. After their #1 I don’t know who else they have. If they have some effective new arms, they will be very tough to beat since they should remain strong offensively.

Centennial surprised teams last year and has most their team is back. They are not young anymore which should translate to improved performance and toughness. They don’t have any glaring weaknesses but they don’t have any superstars either.

Ravenwood and Indy will battle for the 4th and 5th spots. Each team has some good players but not the depth of quality players needed to contend for the title. This will be an exciting change to see some other teams battling it out for the district title this year.

I disagree. Centennial doesnt have what it takes to compete. Franklin will be the #2 for sure. Little lead them all year, without him they have nobody to step up and get the big hit. Sistrunk may be able too if he can get over his attitude problems. I wouldn't count out ravenwood either. They lost their good lefty pitcher along with the first and third baseman that led their offense, but lot of speed in their lineup and i wouldn't be surprised if a young guy stepped up and anchored their offense.

  17. I am interested in who y'all think the best teams will be from this district and who the impact players will be?

    My predictions are:

    1. Brentwood, with many seniors leading the offense, and Shelton leading the rotation, this will be a tough team to beat. The loss of Ashcraft won't hurt as bad as people think.

    2. Franklin, Don't know much about them but a scrappy team who will fight down to the last out, as they did with ravenwood and brentwood last year in the district tournament. The loss of Little will hurt but they will find a way to bounce back.

    3. Ravenwood, with the new coach coming in, going to be hard to predict how they will pan out. They have limited varsity experience but with Ben Brock leading the rotation they will put up a fight. Look for surprising young talent to be a key role in their success this year on the varsity level.

    4. Centenial, with a young class last year, they will have many guys coming up that have played varsity last year. Good young talent and will be especially good in years to come.

    5. Indy, with the losses of Miller, Tuscano, Burdick, and other talented players, they will be a much weaker team than this district has seen over the past couple of years. Look for surprising young talent to play a key role in their success.

    6. Hillsburro, Never a competitor in the district.

  18. As far as bbcor's go, there are defiantly some bats that are better than others. Demarini, Easton, and TPX are among the worst bats on the market. The Easton s1 is the only good one. Everybody i've talked to hates their Demarini Cf5, voodoo, exc. The Marucci, Rawlings, and Rip it is the way to go. Marucci has been proven by all the professionals that use their product. Rawlings 5150 and Marucci cat 5 are some of the most balanced bats on the market. The Marucci black and Rawlings 5150 Velo are just as good. Rip it feels great as well. This is all coming from a players point of view. My brother plays for a JuCo and they are sponsored by Demarini and they all HATE the bats. They get the CF5, Voodoo, and M2M. All of these feel terrible and the pop isn't comparable too the others. Many of my friends that have Demarini are selling them and getting Maruccis or the easton s1. Easton Xl series is very end loaded and the confident feeling at the plate with easton bats just isn't there. Again, coming from a players point of view and is based off my teammates and my opinions, but with all the hitting we've done with the BBcor's, we have a good guess on whats better than the others.
