  1. Saw Greenback in a couple of team camps. Looks like a step back. Not impressed with new coach.

Not a fair statement at all. Courtney only had the girls for 5 practices before camps started. The girls are adapting to a new style of play. Nice wins in camps against Dekalb,York, Lenoir City and Elizabethton.

  2. Personally I think McDaniels will be a great improvement for the basketball program, have watched her coach and must say she does a great job, tuff coach so the Lady Cherokee's better be ready to work hard.

Great improvement? maybe so but, replacing a coach with 500 wins vs. a rookie coach with zero high school wins is a stretch to say "great improvement". I hope Courtney is the next great high school girls coach in East Tn . We are ready to get behind her and support her. Courtney is not walking into a rebuilding situation cause Coach Ed has already done that.

  3. Just wanted to get the conversation started. Here is what I think about each team.

    1. Oliver Springs - time for them to step back up after a really frustrating season. O.S. is #1 but not by much.

    2. I'm stressed over this pick I'm saying Oneida but it could be Wartburg also. I think Oneida will be much better after a year with

some consistency. They will play much faster and be better on paper than Wartburg.

    3. I think they will be good and should be a good team. They lost 3 starters and will not replace them with the same type of players. Looks to me that they will need to change a ton of their way of playing to make up for it. I don't see them shooting 30 threes a game next year.

    4. Oakdale - if Thompson is healthy

    5. Coalfield - Hamby will be better able to carry the load after seeing how they need to play. but they still miss the region again.

    6. Jellico - this is the year they climb out of the basement and secure the very attractive 6 spot :)

    7. Sunbright - they will return to the bottom not much talent down there.

    Players to Watch

    1. Stephens at Oneida - really good post and could be player of the year next season

    2. Hamby at Coalfield - sound player and could be a college player if her team gets her noticed and they make a region.

    3. Hamby at Wartburg - good looking soph. if she has a great year Wartburg could be back

    4. Ball at Oliver Springs - Best PG in the district OS will go as far as she can take them

    5. Thompson at Oakdale - Will she return to Region 2 MVP form following injury.

  4. Your right on the schedule I seen them play a couple of times, but as a whole, 4a is more talented top to bottom. I do like the data you gathered, I guess the region tourney shall decide it for us to see. Both wins came at home, *remember region will be in district 4A this yr.*

    Food for thought hopi.

    Good thread tho.

Thrilla/Hopi... good post, and thanks for the research. I do stand corrected on Grace vs. O.S. games. 4a could be stronger as a whole due to the bottom of 3a is weak. But, my point is 1-4 (3a) is no pushover.Good point on region is in 4a this year.

  5. Yeah from what I understand Kilby just pounded them, Thompson is not BACK. Still gimpy, oneida sounds like they have hit a wall,so to speak. The Wartburg game came down to coaching and execution, could see district tourney battle with these two teams again, I watched the other district, maybe only tellico plains can compete with district 4A,.

First and foremost, i have enjoyed this thread over the season keeping up with Dist. 4a. Also, do not want to ruin this thread by making this a 3a vs.4a . But,Thrilla... "maybe only tellico can COMPETE with district 4a". Tellico has to be the favorite team as of now. I realize they lost to O.S. early but, they are much improved. Also, Grace has beaten O.S., Greenback has beaten Oakdale and Wartburg. Respectfully submitted.
