  1. As I posted earlier CPA is very good, Blackwell is great & with Mr. Campbell at point & the remainder of the supporting cast, they will be difficult to handle. Take nothing away from the team but when you have the ability to get kids from other states to move to Tennessee to play for you there is almost no way to compete for a public school. The only other teams with the ability to compete with that are the privates.

Having said that, they knew they had been in a game last night as the boys from CW never quit & kept coming. I'm not sure CPA has seen that from a local public school at least this year. CW is a very good team and show very poorly last nigh (give credit to the physical defense of CPA for some of that). CW still has a chance to make some noise as long as they can get over this lose before heading to Pearl.

  2. I think the game was decided when Edmondson was not put on Blackwell to start the game. The 13 point run at the beginning when they had a mismatch killed them.

Agreed but even Edmondson couldn't check without fouling. Just a great player. But the run was the ballgame IMHO.

  3. CW had no answer for Blackwell. Campbell was also difficult. The big start by CPA was what CW didn't need but they never quit and kept coming CW has a good shot in sectional. Give CPA credit they are good of course they should be!

  4. Late to this Board but I was at the game Friday night as a high school football fan.  No affiliation with either school.  Thought the game turned on Waynce CO. early.  They had several opportunities and couldn't take advantage.  When NCS got the breaks they took advantage.  Speed on the corners was also a big difference because Wayne Co. was not able to establish the run.  Thought some of the 3rd down calls were curious for Wayne Co.

But if Wayne Co. can score on any of those early opportunites it's a different game, maybe not a different winner but a different game.  But again, NCS' defense was good and kept Wayne Co. off balance.

Do believe Givens and Bituli will have to have a little better composure once they get to the next level.

NCS vs. Columbia Academy could be a good one.

  5. Let me say thank you for putting this event on FREE OF CHARGE TO THE PLAYERS! My son played in this event and was happy to put on his school uni one last time! He was able to play with several kids he had played with and against over the years and had one last great time as a high school player!

I think this is a great event and I hope it grows even bigger.  This is a great opportunity for kids who have put in many years of hard work to get some acknowledgement for their efforts.  My son had a great coach but in my invovlement over the years I do know how difficult it is to get coaches to participate, after the sesason is over and you can only beg so much to get coaches to nominate their players.  I'm sure some good players were missed but all 4 teams were talented and there were 2 good games.  Everyone involved deserved to be there.

Thank you again and I will be in the stands every year that you put this on! Thank you again for giving my son one more high school opportunity as well!

  6. Never said 8AAA didn't have nominations.  Sheffield was invited but declined. Another was out of the country.  Just examples.  The kid you said was injured was already in to play.  Got hurt the day I posted the roster.  You had some nominated, some not I am sure, but the level of talent was very very good.  6 kids invited (4 that accepted and played) were drafted this year.  AAA is very hard.  Gonna get some right, gonna miss some as well.  You can't make it just perfect.  Plus, it gives people like you to talk negative about and pick to death here on this site.  Your district had a 1st round selection.  You also had a few I wished were selected, but when you are stacked up against kids from the Tennessee River to Cumberland County, it is hard.  You know, I don't owe you or anyone any explanation.  Why, because I organized this to do one thing.......celebrate the careers and seasons of a few when NOBODY else was nor has.  I will listen to any positive idea or suggestion you may have.  I am all ears.  I want it to grow.  It has more than doubled from two years ago.

The best part:  EVERY SINGLE PLAYER WAS RESPECTFUL AND APPRECIATIVE!  When you get an email from a parent thanking you and telling you that his son, "Had the most fun playing ball he has had in a long time." and that kid is playing DI or DII baseball next year speaks for itself.

As for Frasier, I named him the head coach for one reason.................The title is for show.  He worked with the others to successfully get every kid in the game and play as equal as possible.  That is a challenge in itself, plus he was THE FIRST AAA COACH TO VOLUNTEER TO DO IT!!!!  They got a shirt, lanyard, and a Baseball America magazine.  You people have ZERO clue what you have in your coaches.  I don't give a darn how many games or district titles they have won.  Brad has always stepped up to coach (volunteer) showcases and events when others run from it.

I am very appreciative to every coach that took the challenge to make this event work.  They are the minority.  You'd be shocked at how many run from it.

You don't like something, you blame me, not these coaches on these All-Star staffs.  THEY DID NOT SELECT NOR INVITE A SINGLE PLAYER.  They see the roster like everyone else.....the day I posted them on coacht.com

Thanks to all that came out.  It was a fun day.  Biggest crowd yet!!

  7. Congrats to Coach Parker! And Shelby Rye was at Dickson Co long before 1997 wasn't he?

Yes he was. That was Coach Rye's 2nd stint as Head Coach of the Cougars. Good luck to you Coach Parker.

  8.  Yep.   Lewis didn't get far enough away from 12AA it looks like.

You may be correct but losing to CPA and Spring Hill is not a bad feat.  Would not surprise me for both of those teams to make it to the 'Boro.  Spring Hill is playing well, they swing it and play solid defense.  May not have have as much pitching as they have in the past but a solid rotation.  Lamm does a good job.

As for CPA, Coach Nesbitt has them playing well.  They swing the bat and once they get on they put a lot of pressure on your defense with extrememly aggresive baserunning.

2 very good teams, as were Lewis County and Creek Wood.  Think any of those 4 good have made a run to State on the right nights.

  9. They used to all count in baseball. Only four teams made it to the state tournament and all the schools whined about that. So, they changed it to the current set up which is just like the region finals in baskeball and softball have always been.

There is not enough time for best of three series. The championship would end up in the middle of June. Then you hurt your kids from getting real exposure during summer tournaments. Only local colleges are ever at high school games. Big schools are at the exposure summer tourneys.Weather could also pose a problem.

Make every game count. If you are good, you are good everyday.

Doesn't have to be best 2 of 3.  Region could be 4 teams from Region in a double elimination series.  On Monday 1 vs. 2 from each district.  Tuesday, winners of 1st 2 game play and losers of 1st 2 games play.  Tuesday winner of winners game hosts sectional.  Wednesday Loser of winners game plays winner of losers game and winner of that game goes on road in sectional.  Still have sectional to determine state tourney participants.

Doesn't take any longer than current system and a team has to have more than 1 arm to get to State.

In AAA in current system you get to ride 1 arm into state tournament.  I'm only using Tullahoma as an example because they are a good team but they pitched Sheffield last night and beat a great Siegel team.  Siegel goes home and now Tullahoma rest him Wednesday and win or lose is no difference because they pitch him Friday to go to the State tourney.  I like my chances of getting to the 'Boro riding Sheffield whether I am on the road or at home.

  10. In regional order - Knox. Grace, North Greene, Boyd Buchanan, Goodpasture, Summertown, Community, McKenzie, Jackson Christian.

I pick Summertown & Goodpsture in the finals with Summertown to win it all.  They are stout for a single A team.  But Goodpsture is pretty dang good as well.  Haven't seen many single A public schools as loaded as Summertown ever.

  11. so 4 plays 5?  5 loses.

    4 plays 1.  4 loses.

    (1-1) 4 plays (0-1) 5 again but is throwing their #3 vs 5's #2?

then (2-1) 4 wins again and has to beat (1-0) 1 twice who has played 1 game while 4 is playing its fourth game?

so to get to finals 4 has to finish 4-1 while 1 can go 2-0 ?

Have to agree with ECU, worst bracket I have ever seen!  If you are going to do it this way & it plays out as davidlimbaught sets forth, which it will & did, why even have a district tournament? Why not just say regular season #1 hosts Region & #2 travels! Let's not waste the time & $ on this tourney because few teams in high school would have the pitching depth to win that kind of bracket unless you are the #1 or #2.  And let me say Spring Hill is pretty deep in the bullpen especially for a AA team.

  12. Creekwood 15

    E. Hickman 0

Not that it matters but actual score was 14-0 in that game.

Question for a Hickman County fan in the know.  I assume Logan Peeler is your best pitcher, why did he not throw against Montgomery Central yesterday?

Sounds like 2 good games in Hohenwald last night with the 2 favorites having to come from behind.  How much pitching did Waverly & Lewis expend? Not that it matters with the weekend to rest.

CW-Montgomery Central should be a a good one as should Waverly-Lewis County.  Camden could still make some noise in Hohenwald..

Doesn't seem to me to be the best format, allowing so much time between games. I think playing straight through would provide a better indicator of the best team in a tournament.

  13. The TSSAA just requires each district to provide two teams to the region designated as first and second place.  Up to each district how those two teams are identified.  Some districts, like 7AAA, give an automatic berth to the region to the regular season outright champion. Some districts do not do this.

Correct me if I am wrong davidlimbaugh but I do not believe you even have to have a district tournament?  As you said, you are only required to send two teams to the region.

  14. Anybody have a schedule for the tourney?

    I may be wrong but I think game times at both locations are 4:30 & 7 Thursday 5/1, 5/2, 5/6 & what if 5/5

    at Creek Wood 5/1

    7 pm 5/1 losers

    5/5

4:30 loser of 5/1 winners game vs winner losers bracket survivor

7 pm 5/1 winner vs winner of 4.30 game

    5/6

    What if game

    @ Lewis Co 5/1

  15. It looks like the district tournament is set for 11-AA.  Since they went to 2 divisions, North & South, they split the district tournment with the winner of each division hosting a double elimination tourney & then the 2 winners playing a single championship game.  Creek Wood will host as the winner of the North and Lewis Co. will host as the South winner.  Looks like this

    @ Creek Wood

N1 Creek Wood vs. S4 East Hickman

S2 Hickman Co. vs. N3 Montgomery Central

    @ Lewis Co.

    S1 Lewis Co. vs. N4 Camden-Stewart Co. play-in winner

    N2 Waverly vs. S3 Fairview

    The Road to Murfreesboro begins.

  16. What in the world could be said so bad that would make you take a swing at an umpire? I understand bad calls but taking a swing at Blue! As much as umpires have pissed me off over the years I cannot imagine taking a swing at one.  Coalfield may be lucky to play again this year and that young man's high school career should be over, unless the details are so extremely bad as to what an umpire might have said.

  17. Under your scenario "a ball in the dirt" blocked by the catcher this is definitely scored as a runner advancing base by wild pitch. No questions asked, any pitch in the dirt with an advance by a runner is a wild pitch.

  18. They are district games. However they are not division games, which are the ones that count.

I stand corrected they are games against teams in your district but they do not count on your district won-loss record.  Your district won-loss record will be your division record for purposes of seeding for the district tournament.  Semantics I guess, but all other teams in the district appear to be counting only the division games as "district" games as the standings posted by NavyChief in an earlier post are what all the teams in the district appear to be agreeing on.

  19. i need to fix an earlier post. fairview is now 1-3 in the district, the waverly was a loss. so 4-3 and 1-3 in district including tonight's loss to creekwood.

Except none of those games are considered district games.  The games you play against teams outside your division are not considered district games.  So to date Fairview has played no district games because Stewart Co., Central, Creek Wood and Waverly are not considered district games for Fairveiw
