That's what I thought.    So if a team has a great kicker, a guy who can drop it out the back of the end zone on a kickoff, but a really bad punter.... In that case if you had to punt on 4th down it might be better to try a 80 yard field goal, the purpose of course just to advance the ball way further down the field than the punter could.

If the receiving team let it go though, it would become a dead ball & go back to the original LOS...

Oh look it’s the old, act like the past doesn’t affect the present individual. That’s a ridiculous statement to make when talking about a winning streak, maybe if I was referencing a state championship from the 60’s you’d have a point.

You referenced the streak. I was saying it is irrelevant for 2019....

Butthurt lol about what? Being top 5 in the BEST (by far the best, exclude the recruiting private’s)  classification in Tennessee high school football? No, I’m just fine.

Lol. Just that every single time someone doesn't agree with you...... You get offended.

  4. A couple of years ago you could do that. The first year they implemented the pitch count you could finish the hitter and revert to the pitch count when the at bat began. The last 2 years a pitch is a pitch. If the pitcher throws pitch number 119 to start the batter and finishes on pitch 123 then he is over the limit and it is a violation. A pitch is a pitch now, it doesn't matter when the AB started.

Those two carried them to the state tournament last year two can get you there so who has multiple pitchers that are good?

Yeah, they did. I said pitching DEPTH wasn't a strength..... When those two are on the mound they have a chance any game seems like. Although, they did beat Watertown with a freshman starting last night so..... it's baseball.... any given day.

  6. Officiating is a "thankless" job. If you do a great job then you aren't noticed. If you make a bad call, you get jumped by "Little Johnny's" mom and grandma.....

There are less and less officials that are willing to do it because morons in the stands lose their mind every time a call isn't made in their favor.....

The officials that do work the games are mostly new to officiating b/c most sane adults get out of it because of (see above statement)

Without a doubt, fans have gotten worse.....so far as to actually make personal bodily harm threats against officials.....?? Are you friggin kidding me? Over a game? Over a child's game?

Let's be clear on something else. The pay is better than it used to be, but it is still not great. $60-$120 depending on the level you are officiating and if there is one or two games. This does not include the fact that officials have to drive usually well over 30 minutes to get to the game along with having to purchase all of their own apparel, gear, etc.

Parents/fans need to sit back and enjoy the kids getting to "PLAY A GAME"........I repeat......."PLAY..... A..... GAME"

Stop living vicariously through your children and let them chart their own path....... This is not life or death.....

Are the kids playing that need to be playing,,,....like the athletes - football boys etc??   Is interest down like it is in some places?    SC has always had athletes, but they seem down in all sports.......Is it just a cycle?

Down in all sports? I'd wait a calendar year before I declared a school down in "all" sports.

  8. Actually harder to transfer there than anywhere else in Rutherford County. 1) You have to have the grades and get accepted and 2) because the entire county is the zone, you can't just move in the zone and play. If you played at another high school, TSSAA rules you would have to sit out a year until you're eligible.

Alright, then you explain to me how the Norfleet kid is eligible when he played in the State Tournament last year for Riverdale? One calendar year would be the end of May.

  9. I hardly see SC as the favorite after losing those 5 productive seniors last year. MCM or DC are by far the favorites I believe. MCM didn't lose a soul and I bet the AD added a few pieces from nearby Ruth. Co. schools. ;) I also think Upperman could make a case. They didn't lose many.

    My prediction:

    1. Central Magnet

    2. Dekalb

    3. Upperman

    4. Smith

    5. Livingston

    6. Cannon

    7. York

  10. I have to stand up for MC just this once. Best 2 years of SC football, 88 with Dirkson and 2003, didn't MC beat them in '88 and twice 2003? I see that MC won the golf state in girls, second in guys. Played for title in bball. LA sent both boys and girls to state in bball. Cannon went to state in girls bball, Dekalb in baseball. SC putting all their eggs in one basket only to be one and done in football doesn't seem like its working out to well.

SC went to state in baseball in 2010 and 2012. Finished in Top 4 both times.

  11. I anticipate things to be different this year too. Dekalb is always tough, central magnet will be the team to beat I believe. Upperman will be better. LA and SC have some shoes to fill, but also some good young players. Cannon had a freshman pitcher last year that was tough. You never know. I guess that is why they don't crown the champ at the beginning of the season. Good luck to everyone.

  12. 2010 - Dekalb and Smith went to Final Four at State. Gibbs put out Dekalb, Spring Hill put out SC.

2011 - Dekalb went to State, won first game (Polk) , then lost next two (???). LA went to substate and Polk beat them.

2012 - Smith went to Final Four at State, Spring Hill beat them twice in Semi-Final round, then went and got beat by Goodpasture in Championship. LA went to substate and Red Bank beat them.
