  1. Does anyone know what the heck is going on with this job. I'm shocked that, given the circumstances and timing of this situation, one of Warner's assistants were not offered the job. From wht I witnessed, it seemed Warner had a great group of hardworking, knowledgeable assistants. I've also heard rumors of a good ole boy system at work at JCHS. Anyone with knowledge know whats going on?

  2. Like who? I can't believe how little is floating around about this opening. Nor can I believe how they haven't even talked to anyone and most school systems have already started. I heard there were some pretty good assistants at Jeff County with Warner. Are they in the running or did they leave the program also?

  3. I saw on twitter where coach Warner at Jefferson county resigned today to take a position at Gatlinburg Position. Am I missing something here. Anybody have anything to offer about what kind of coach gatlinburg is getting and how jeff fans feel about him leaving? I've already heard some rumblings of people unhappy with the hire at gp. What direction will Jeff county go with this hire?

  4. I've been told its a done deal for some reason they are getting the coach from Central

Just a few hours ago you were saying it was going to be the Jeff county coach and now you are saying its going to be the central coach. Sounds like you know about as much as everyone else on this board

  5. One has to remember that it is more than just who the "best on the field" candidate may be. The choice has to be able to meet the certification of available teaching positions and be in a position with his family to make the move, if he is coming from out of town. There are a whole lot more issues than just picking the "best" coach for the job.

That said, I have heard Rice's name mentioned through out the process. It wouldn't surprise me to see him named the Bearden coach because he fits the criteria that seems to be in place. As a Bearden baseball alum, I want to see the best hire made, but I am also realistic about whom they are going to be able to hire.

I to have heard from people that Rice has been offered the job at Bearden. That is weird considering Rice teaches English at Karns and the only opening Bearden has is P.E. I had heard that a decision would be announced today but im not sure now considering Bearden will be advancing to at least Monday.

  6. According to TN Teacher License look-up, Hochevar does not have a teaching license. That is if this is how you spell his name.

Will Knox County hire a none licensed teacher to teach?

I thought the teaching position concerning hochevar would be the problem with him. HIs profile on the Grace Christian website says he did have a Colorado teaching license. So he doesn't have a tn teaching license because he is at a private school but did have a colorado license before coming to TN. Im not sure whats going on. Bearden might be trying to figure out the same thing, thats why its taking longer than expected. I am confident in saying that they will not be hiring someone who is a non-licensed teacher.

  7. Does anyone know when the admin will make a decision? It was Friday, then Monday and still nothing.

Yeah they are really dragging this out. I thought they had the person in mind who they wanted when they said thursday but now i dont know. The longer it goes the more it seems they are struggling to come to a definitive answer as to who is the right candidate. Im not sure when the decision will be made.

  8. SANTA CLAUSE HIMSELF. iM JUST A KIDDIN WITH YA , JUST A LUCKY GUESS. WHAT DO I KNOW I STILL THINK THE COACH FROM ONEIDA IS THE GUY FOR THIS JOB

I was hoping you were kidding. I do know that Hochevar is interested but the question with him will come down to teaching position/certification. The other name you stated would be a complete joke of a hire. I do think they are still evaluating the decision but i dont think that there have been finalist named. I still think the coach from Jefferson County is the logical choice and would be surprised if its not him.

  9. From the rumor mill in my area, the coach that is being considered is a PE teacher. I know Bearden has that available, but his name has not been mentioned as of yet on this thread and I out of respect for him and his current program will keep it quiet. I am curious who else is being considered.

The coach that I keep hearing is a PE teacher also but his name has been mentioned on this thread so im not sure who you are talking about.

  10. Much of this is only speculation, but I am reasonably sure Warner will not be going to Bearden. I am not so sure that Warner will remain at Jefferson County.

What makes you sure that Warner will not be going to Bearden?

  11. I wonder if it will be annonuced while the potential coach's team is still playing?

Has anyone heard anything? I was told the decision was to be made yesterday. Either they are doing a really good job of keeping it quiet or they haven't made a decision yet.

  12. I wonder if it will be annonuced while the potential coach's team is still playing?

I would say they wouldn't make a formal announcement until that coach's season is over but it will be public knowledge much sooner than that.

  13. I agree that would be a shocker. It is Knox County, however, strange hires and "fires" happen all of the time especially if there are favors involved.

Your right. I guess we will all find out today because a decision is supposed to be made today.

  14. Hold your horses there buddy , ive heard its been confirmed that Fultons head coach has been offered this job. You might think Im drunker than a skunk or smokin on something but im tellin you how it is.

That would be a shocker too considering i was told it was Warner's job to take or walk away from. Also, he is also the only candidate that is certified to teach P.E. from what ive been told and that is the only opening Bearden has at this moment.

  15. Coach Warner has done a good job at Jefferson County the last two years. He has greatly improved the facilities and won several games. His team is 20-6 this year against much stiffer competition. However, it should be noted he has had the most talent the last two years that JC has seen in some time. If he has been offered the Bearden job, will Jefferson County do anything to try to keep him?

You hit it right on the head option. Im not sure there is much Jefferson County could do to keep him. It is what it is. If he is offered the job at Bearden there is no reason why he should stay at Jefferson County. Better pay, Better talent, Better chance of winning... its as simple as that.

  16. I agree completely. I know interviews were taking place Monday and Tuesday but has anyone heard a timeline or when a decision is expected to be made? Will they announce it during season or keep it hush-hush until after the season is completed?

From what I heard last night and this morning it looks like the coach from Jefferson County is going to be offered the job today. Can anyone else confirm this?

  17. Coach Pharr made the move to CAK for family reasons. He's not going to move across town just to coach a team that he beat year after year after year. The ONLY way he leaves CAK is to go back to Farragut. Just being realistic.

I agree completely. I know interviews were taking place Monday and Tuesday but has anyone heard a timeline or when a decision is expected to be made? Will they announce it during season or keep it hush-hush until after the season is completed?

  18. Im just telling you what ive heard around the ball park at bearden. Maybe tommy is tired of not having a winning team at cak and wants to move to bearden bc he knows he would win state titles once again there. He's got it made at CAK no doubt , but im just telling you what ive heard. Hopefully bearden will have enough sense not to let RICE take there program over, heck make it a nation wide search, bc I dont know if those two could cut it.

I tend to agree with you with regards to Rice but Warner would be a different story. He has turned the baseball complex at Jefferson County into one of the finest facilities in the state. It is truly amazing because I saw the field about 5 years ago and then saw it earlier this year and I was astonished. He also took his team last year to the sub-state game and probably has a good shot at challenging Farragut this year.

  19. Guarantee 100% that's not true. Would make less than zero sense.

I completely agree. Tommy Pharr to Bearden makes Zero sense. I have confirmed that the Jefferson County coach (Warner) and the Karns coach (Rice) are interviewing for the baseball position today at Bearden High School. Not sure who the other candidates chosen for interviews are at this moment. Will work on it.

  20. I think Warner at Jeff County would be an excellent choice. He has transformed the perennial underachieving Patriots to a well coached team that wins the games they should and more. They lost 8 or more seniors from last years squad and are playing really well. He is in a great position at the moment. He coaches in a huge school competing against schools that they should beat. Does he want to come to knoxville?

Another coach I did not see mentioned was Browning from South Doyle. He is an exceptional coach who can sqeeze more blood from a turnip than most. He always gets everything he can from his squad. He has also shown what he can do if he has some talent. Good man as well as a coach.

No denying the fact that Warner brought something different to the table at Jefferson County or his ability to coach, but the last two years at Jefferson County saw the most talented group of players in the past 20 years come through. It is also not as great a position as it seems. The talent pool is drying up and the conference is a lot better than what people think it is, so its tough on a year to year basis. With all that said, I think Warner would be a good choice compared to the other names being mentioned.

  21. I heard the coach from Oneida is in the picture

I haven't heard much about the coach at Oneida. It seems kind of odd but there must be some type of former connection at play with that one. I think one of the things that is surprising is they posted the job right in the middle of the stretch run of the season. Alot of coaches probably shyed away rom applying due to the fact that they didnt want to cause a distraction to their current team and have their name in the hat for another job during the most important stretch of the season,
