Been weeks since I've had time to be on the T, but Lucas Andrews (girls coach) and Lucas Honeycutt (boys coach) both from Hampton.  Len Dugger (coached boys and girls at Eliz) was also from Hampton.  And yes Andrews was coaching at Cland coaching before going to Eliz.

What did Harrison go to Elizabethton to do? I did hear Cland now has a boys head coach...Been involved for awhile...Good young man

Tyler Chambers is the new coach,he's been in the program for years, from the jr high to the high school, he's a very good guy.

They have had those signs up for years. My son was on one when he was in eighth grade and he will be a senior this coming year. I would call it advertising more than recruiting.

Maybe they didn't have the football coach holding the state championship trophy on them for me to notice,im not saying there's anything wrong with promoting your school, and I know kids in this day and time want to go where they feel they can win, just never seen a sign up in Valley Forge before.Call it what you want but it sure looks like recruiting to me,you know what they say you said tomatoe i said mater lol

  3. I've got something on a different note, why is there an Elizabethton city school billboard in Valley forge saying want to be a champion come on down in so many words or less, is this not recruiting tool, just wondering? You guys may have already discussed this I've been away for quite a while

  4. I got to say goodbye today to one of the best coaches, and mentors a teenage boy could have,he was the type of coach that you would have ran through a wall for,his coaching style was very old school, simply because that was how he was,he had many sayings, but one that always stuck with me was prepare for the worst and pray for the best.My thoughts and prayers go out to his family,he will be sorely missed.

I said "win" or lose.  We're going to be even better next year.

I really hope you are right, about next year, maybe I'm just being a pessimist but I don't like to count my chickens before they hatch.there could be a lot of things transpire in the next few months,I've seen it happen before, transfers, injuries, and like before personal issues,I know most of these girls and I really do hope they can win multiple championships through out Their high school seasons,I wish them nothing but GOOD LUCK Saturday

  6. Haven't got to see this team play yet, probably won't see them until they play Hampton, just have one concern I've looked at the roster and they have very little size,I know you can neutralize size with quickness.is that how they're beating the bigger teams? i know most of these girls, I know they're extremely tough and love the game and I wish them the best of luck this year

i think coach hazelwood is a good coach. But maybe not for this team he is used to having a go to girl right now he dont have that and its hard to change style of coaching

Yes he's a good coach, and I agree about about not having a go to player, really thought Brumit would be that player but she's still got time

  8. Poor lady Dogz, they are very down and will continue to be down for several more years, there just isn't a lot of help on the way,I think it's a combination of lack of talent, coaching, and interest.hopefully they will improve some  by the seasons end and surprise some teams.good luck to all the local teams

You cant talk about your facilities when your homeside is not centered at mid field. Everything else might be fine but something like that there is no excuse.

As far as I know you wouldn't be sitting on the lopsided home side so why care about it,and no we don't have a 3 million dollar stadium, and turf and all the hooplah that Etown has,but we still love our schools and programs sorry if our facilities are not up to your standards.

Lol! I don't see that happening but who knows! Rumor has it, his dad says they're excited to get stated here next season. Like always, we'll go with what we got...But he'd be a huge piece of the puzzle

Exactly, just play with what we got,if it's true they could at least wait till he's finished the basketball season lol

I'm with you on that...he's one that has plenty of growing to do and will put the needed work in I believe.

I guess he'll be at E town next according to the other message board lol

  12. It is true that Etown is loaded with county kids and county coaches(Whitehead is from Cloudland as a coach along with Harrison who if I remember correctly is from HV) SO WHAT,and alot of times we act like we know ever child's situation, which we don't know what is going on in the family life,Hughes dad lives in roan mtn but he went to Hampton in Jr high so we don't know what went on,all I know is he is at e town and is doing great,I would have to say every school in the state has at least one kid or coach from somewhere else. But when you start talking about the quality of education at different schools that's where I have to say if your child doesn't have the desire for a quality education it doesn't matter where the child goes,it all starts at Home.Etown 28 Springfield 14 good luck to both teams safe travels and an injury free game

Trivett is a baller; Can't wait to see him on the field come spring. That transition to HS changes some Jr High studs to HS duds....I Hope they all continue to grow and mature quickly cause we can use every single one of em next season

True it doesn't always work out from jr high to high school, but I believe Trivett will only continue to grow and improve

Yeah I'm sure you have a few of those teachers everywhere. Its just what's best for you and yours. It has worked out good for my brother and his kids but that's not always the case I know county kids that tried it and ended up coming back.

I agree it's what's best for you and your kids, I've known a few too

I just think weight room accountability at Elizabethton is higher. You could skip the weights at Cloudland and still start I don't think you could at Elizabethton. Same as academics if you want to learn at Cloudland you absolutely can but also if you are a athlete and want to slack and get by you can. I did.

You always have a few like yours who are willing to put in the work and do it right but that's not the case with the majority I don't think. You are closer to the program and know more of what it's like now than I do.

About the academics, you can get just as good of an education from the county schools but you have to be willing to work for it, Elizabethton may offer more but you still have those teachers that let the athletes slack off.
