I heard that the administration was not going to make a decision this week, maybe next....SERIOUSLY!!! I know several of the coaches, and the indecisiveness leaves them in limbo. I have talked to them about situation and they have no idea what is going on. I feel for them and their families. I hope the administration realizes that this indecision affects the coaches families in a negative way. You have at least three(that I know of) who would have to move, which would probably involve selling a house. I know this is a big decision for admin to make, but since you started during district tourny, I think you have had plenty of time.

Has anything been announced? What will they do if their candidates get offered another job and accepts because they have drug their feet? I am sure whoever gets the job would want to get started.

 

 

One name not listed on this board so far is Coach at Seymour Scott Norman. PE Degree and always is at the top of everyones list. This may be the year he makes the move!

Norman will NEVER leave Seymour. He has got it made!!! He always has talent, and he has been there FOREVER therefore NO ONE questions him. On top of all that his kids have always gone to Seymour Schools. I would be VERY surprised if he leaves.

Strange comment to make that it is his way on the field or you don't play! It SHOULD be the coaches way on the field.

AGAIN, meant to be a compliment. My point was that I was not sure if the Bearden faithful would as sol put it "mesh well"

Having played SC for three years in a row... I thought he got the guys to play hard and was a winner!

That was my point, that he got everything out of his players that they had and they played very hard and never gave up. It was meant as a compliment.

This has got my interest now. Traywick did turn in his resignation. I have heard that he did apply or was talk to about the Bearden job. He is a PE teacher. He interviewed when the job was open before.

 

I was beginning to think I was the ONLY one who thought this was an interesting bit of information. You say "he did apply or was talk to" if that is true, why has no one mentioned his name? VERY STRANGE!!!

 

He helped turn the Sevier Co program around, no doubt! He had a real good talented class go thru that graduated in 2010 that helped tremendously! This opened the doors for others to want to go to SC where they previously went to other schools in the county to play baseball. You build it (or win) and they will come! He works very hard at his job and puts in the time needed to succeed! It would be interesting to see how the Bearden players and parents mesh with Coach T. He is VERY competitive and is one of those coaches that you either like him or hate him! I personally appreciated him and his work at SC and I wish Him the BEST if he does go this route!

 

I agree totally with all you said...he is a hard worker, and a huge competitor. If Bearden wants to win and win big, he can definitely do it, but parents would have to buy in to Traywick's way. I have watched two or three of SC games per year over the past 5-6 years and his kids definitely know how to play and most of the time played above their God given talent. From what I witnessed, he is hard nosed, and on the field it is his way or no play and I am not sure the Bearden kids can handle that kind of coach.

When it comes to high school athletics, schools SHOULD focus on character and integrity in the hiring process. However, this is not always the case, which is sad.

I heard last night that Traywick from Sevier County resigned, has he applied for the job?

I have been told by several people that Rice from Karns has been offered and has accepted the job. I wonder if that's right? Not sure why that would be Bearden's direction...just what I heard.

I heard it was a TTU assistants with no head coaching experience. He will be thrown to the wolves, i.e., booster club. Good luck to whomever they choose, just hope they choose soon!

I have Jeff Hopkins from Coliierville getting it. Put it on the board. Winner gets a Litton's burger, right?

I had heard someone from Collierville was interviewing, but did not realize that it was their head man. Nothing against Bearden, but WHY would he leave Collierville who is #1 in the state right now to come to Bearden. He would be out of his mind, so on that along could not see the great minds at Bearden choosing an unstable coach (JK).

In all seriousness, was it the head man or an assistant who interviewed? I really cannot see the head man wanting to leave Collierville.

Not only does the admin have impeccable timing (tourny time), they are drawing the process out leaving the coaches in limbo. So, has the top prospects changed, or are they still the same? Does anyone on here really have a clue, or are we all just speculators?

To me, the slowing of the process now means that they are turning to Hochevar. They must be trying to work out what he will teach and who he can use as assistants.

According to TN Teacher License look-up, Hochevar does not have a teaching license. That is if this is how you spell his name.

Will Knox County hire a none licensed teacher to teach?

The Two Finalist for the bearden job are Brian Lovett from knox central and Hochevar from Grace. Should be interesting to see who gets it. I personally think the AD should have went out and seen all of these coaches coach first hand and see what kinda coach they really are. Now im not trying to bash the coaches above at all, there good coaches , but im not sure Bearden is getting the best guy for this position. If im the AD im going out and seeing each coach that applied for this job and makin sure im getting the best coach possible for my program.

The coach that I keep hearing is a PE teacher also but his name has been mentioned on this thread so im not sure who you are talking about.

The coach I am referring to, is not Jeff Co. coach. He is the only one on the thread that is PE certified. I am certain that another PE Certified coach is in consideration, but I will not be the one who mentions his name. I do believe that he has went about this the correct way keeping his name out of talk, so not to hurt or disrupt his current team during the season. It seems that he tries to put his players first, and job interviews on the back burner.

I could be wrong, and Jeff Co. coach could be the man. The Knox County coaches have another that they believe it is, so I have heard. I wonder if any of these coaches got a call on Friday?

I wonder if they are making sure that a teaching position will be available in the coach's subject area? I heard that was an issue the last time a change was made at Bearden.

From the rumor mill in my area, the coach that is being considered is a PE teacher. I know Bearden has that available, but his name has not been mentioned as of yet on this thread and I out of respect for him and his current program will keep it quiet. I am curious who else is being considered.

I heard the decision has been pushed back to today? I wonder what the hold up is?

Does anyone know for sure who is being considered? I had heard the decision was made last Thursday, just waiting for it to be made public, but you know how rumors are. This did come from a VERY reliable source.

Does anyone else on here think this was very bad timing by the administration at Bearden High School to post this job now? I spoke with Tate and he said they were supposed to wait till the end of the season. How disrespectful of a man who has been there for many years. Also why would they not just wait till everyone is finished playing? It makes no sense to me. And really I think it is very poor timing by Bearden admin. They should have thought that one threw a little more. Even if they hire someone now it will be summer before he start with the team and can only cause problems for others wherever they are currently coaching. My opinion Dyer the assistant who is already there gets it.

Horrible timing!! Bad for Bearden, and all teams whose coaches are mentioned in this post. I think the reason it is so hush hush is that THE coach doesn't want to affect his team during the season, which in my opinion is smart. Does anyone know who all applied and who was interviewed?

Has anyone heard anything? I was told the decision was to be made yesterday. Either they are doing a really good job of keeping it quiet or they haven't made a decision yet.

I heard they did make a decision and did offer the job, but it is very hush hush.
